Go To

The Loud Awakening is a The Loud House fanfiction by Neet92.

Kicking Lincoln out of the house has led the 10 female Loud siblings to fall into the clutches of Lord Tetherby's greedy ambitions, subjecting them to cruel experimentation.

The end result?

A brand new Super Family Team.

The Loud Awakening provides examples of:

  • Actually Pretty Funny: Shortly after the girls are kidnapped (and Lincoln is re-kidnapped), Luan gives Lord Tetherby an insult that is so good it has all of her siblings laughing.
Lord Tetherby: You... unrefined... undisciplined... miscreant maggot of a child! Do you even know who you're dealing with?
Luan: A fat man in dire need of a gym membership?
  • Adaptational Villainy: Lord Tetherby. In the show he was a smug and egocentric man, with no respect towards the poor, but that's it. Here he is a full blown villain who has the Loud children kidnapped as guinea pigs for his experiment, and his reasoning can be summed up as, in his own words, because he doesn't like them and thinks they could contribute so much more to the world as guinea pigs than whatever they would otherwise do.
  • Artifact of Power: 10 mysterious Orbs that can each merge with a compatible host, grant them powers, and permanently altering their physiology.
  • A Birthday, Not a Break: The Louds escape and wreck chaos in Tetherby Industries, on Tetherby's birthday.
  • Cat Folk: Lola's monster form is based off some form of cat.
  • Cold-Blooded Torture: Seeing as the Loud kids are being held captive by two people who Would Harm a Child, this is everywhere.
  • Corrupt Corporate Executive: Lord Tetherby owns and runs Tetherby Industries, one of the leading scientific and engineering companies in America. The main product of its more lucrative subsidiary, Tetherby Weapons and Defense Department, involves organic and tech-based weapons that are morally questionable in nature at best, and Tetherby has no qualms over who gets hurt in the process.
  • Cute Monster Girl: The Loud sisters (sans Lisa) are transformed by the Orbs into hybrid forms of cryptids and mythical beasts attuned to their powers. This also inspired their codenames.
  • Cyborg: Lisa's Orb turned her into one with her enhancements residing inside her body when not use, leaving her the same in appearance save for her glowing eyes and metallic hair.
  • Darker and Edgier: The show in canon is a light-hearted Slice of Life series about a preteen boy living with his ten sisters. This fic is about him being kidnapped after being thrown out of the house, used as bait so his sisters will be kidnapped, too, and all eleven of them being exposed to magical orbs that irreversibly change their bodies so scientists ca experiment on them. Oh, also? A lot of swearing, a lot of blood, and the kids kill people during their escape. A Dark Fic, indeed.
  • Darkest Hour: For the Louds, the start of chapter 13, when they have been held captive for a year, in which they never got to see each other or even know if their siblings are still alive. Even Lincoln is giving in to despair. Then comes help from Zed Carmine and Faye Li.
  • Dead Fic: the last update was on Jun 30, 2019, and the author has been inactive since.
  • Dehumanization: In two forms. First, the Loud siblings being exposed to/fused with the Orbs turned each of them into something more than human (with some of them having new appearances as a result). Second, the scientists (led by Singed) don't treat the Loud siblings as humans even before the experiments began, and treat them even worse after.
  • Draconic Humanoid: Lori's monster form gives her draconic horns, wings, claws, and a thick tail.
  • Elemental Powers: The Loud siblings gain these from their respective orbs:
  • Even Evil Has Standards:
  • Evil Genius: Dr. Darrell Singed, the head scientist of Tetherby Industries, is the one responsible for many of the cruel experiments and the overseer of the Loud siblings' misery.
  • Foregone Conclusion: Due to the first chapter being set after the events of the story, we already know that Lincoln, Lori, Luna, Luan, Lynn, Lucy, and Lisa will survive the origin story.
  • Feather Fingers: Luan in her new monster form has wings for arms.
  • For Science!: Dr. Singed is purely interested in testing the orbs, and has zero regards for morals or setting limits. It is for this reason Tetherby selected him as the head scientist.
  • Harping on About Harpies: Luan's monster form is based on a harpy, as well as mixed with a roc.
  • How We Got Here: The first chapter has the Louds already in the swing of their superhero careers. The story then rewinds to one and a half years earlier to show how they came to be this way.
  • Humanoid Abomination: The best way to describe Lucy's monster form. Physically she doesn't appear to have changed much compared to her sisters, but according to her, her heart doesn't beat anymore, her blood is black, and when torn to pieces by a monster, her body parts and organs sprouts limbs and tentacles to pull back together together. Word of God states she's essentially a shapeshifting chimera.
  • Invasion of the Baby Snatchers: 10 of your 11 children end up getting kidnapped and used as test subjects by an evil scientist. Lincoln had been missing for two weeks already when his sisters got captured, and as of chapter 13, they too have been gone for over a year. The fic is, at the moment, already a parent's worst nightmare for Rita and Lynn Sr., and one can only imagine their reactions when they see what their children have become due to the experiments.
  • Kidnapped for Experimentation: Tetherby's ultimate plans for the Loud siblings.
  • Knight in Shining Armor: Lincoln's powers manifest as a suit of armor with sword and shield through which he channels his light powers.
  • Know When to Fold Them: At the end of chapter 14, Dr. Singed decides to cut his ties with Tetherby since the Louds have escaped and are out for Tetherby's blood.
  • Lizard Folk: Lynn's new monster form is based off a Salamander, a lizard folk with Playing with Fire powers.
  • Loss of Identity: This almost happens to the Louds, who've not only been kept from each other for a year while facing painful experimentation, but whose bodies have been irreversibly changed to the point that some of them barely look human anymore. Luckily, though, they each maintain enough sense of self to prevent this trope (which makes sense, given how each of them have big personalities).
  • Lured into a Trap: After being left in the woods for half an hour, Lincoln wonders why the mercenaries who were hired by Tetherby to capture the Louds left him there. After hearing his Sisters voices, he realizes he was put there as bait to capture his sisters.
  • Non-Elemental: Dr. Singed describes Lori as having received "pure magic" from the Arcane Orb
  • Our Mermaids Are Different: Leni's new monster form is based off a mermaid, specifically a nereid/sahuagin mix.
  • Our Werewolves Are Different: Lana's monster form is based on a werewolf.
  • Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right!: Zed Carmine and Faye Li, two other scientists working for Tetherby Industries who help the Loud kids escape once they find out about the experiments, since even though they know how dangerous the Louds are now with their new powers, they still are horrified by what Tetherby Industries is doing.
  • Slipping a Mickey: In order to gain access to the control room to free the Louds, Zed and Faye give the guards spiked cupcakes that knock them out.
  • Statuesque Stunner: The older Loud sisters got a height boost with their monster transformations to varying degrees. Lori got the most extreme one, with the narration describing her figure as growing to a 7ft Amazon.
  • Super Hero Origin: The story is one for the Louds.
  • Super-Toughness:
    • Lori's dragon scales are stated to be tougher than steel, titanium, tungsten, and inconel combined. Even her "normal" skin is described as tough enough she could take a point-blank shotgun blast and come out with a minor scrape.
    • While not as extreme, all of the Loud children inherited superhuman increase in durability, to the point Lincoln and Lucy while suppressing their powers could survive being hit by a shockwave from a mech that would have killed a normal human.
  • Super-Speed: Luna has all the speed that being able to turn into a lightning bolt can give you. Luan, while not "as" fast, is still able to fly at speeds that would put some of the fastest modern aircraft to shame.
  • Time Skip: Two weeks in chapter 3, a month in chapter 9, and a year in chapter 13.
  • Troubled Fetal Position: In chapter 3, after Lincoln has been gone for two weeks, the Loud Parents sometimes find Lynn in his room, curled up into a ball and clutching Bun-Bun.
  • Wicked Weasel: Luna's monster form is based off a Kamaitachi, a Japanese youkai, albeit trading out the wind powers for lightning ones.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Lord Tetherby and Dr. Darrell Singed.
  • Wreathed in Flames: Lynn's new fire powers allow her to do this. When Lincoln first sees her after her tranformation, she is completely engulfed in flames without being burned or hurt by it.
  • Ye Olde Butcherede Englishe: Lincoln's speech has been permanently changed to this due after merging with the Light Orb. Even Lincoln is weirded out when he first hears himself speak, and he can't really control it. His thoughts however, are still in modern English. His siblings lampshade that it's rather fitting.
