Fanfic / The Legend of Miraculous

Go To

The Legend of Miraculous is a Fusion Fic Crossover between The Legend of Zelda and Miraculous Ladybug, written by Chapelseed and LegendofHearts. The story depicts Link Jäger-Hayashi and Zelda Callaghan as high school students by day, superhero Miraculous holders by night (and often also by day), with a supporting cast taken from several different Zelda games.

The story can be found on Archive of Our Own (though several later chapters have not been posted here yet), Fanfiction.net and DeviantArt.

This fanfic provides examples of:

  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul:
  • Alpha Bitch: Cia Ihejirika is the stand-in for Chloé Bourgeois, causing a lot of Gufuu attacks via her bullying.
  • Amazingly Embarrassing Parents: Yuki and Boris have their moments, especially after Link and Zelda start dating.
  • Antagonist Title: As with Miraculous, every chapter containing an antagonist aside from the Origins Episode is named after the Villain of the Week.
  • Beta Bitch: Lana, a clear stand-in for Sabrina.
  • Beta Couple: Ravio and Hilda, who get together at the end of chapter 8.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Link/Sheikan Wolf is especially vicious when it comes to calling out Cia for her actions, to the surprise of the other heroes. He attributes this to "wolf frenzy".
  • Big Bad: Boarova is the villain causing the Gufuu attacks, no doubt based on Ganon's Pig Man form. Indeed, Ganondorf Dragmire appears in Chapter 16 and is quickly confirmed to be Boarova.
  • Black Comedy Animal Cruelty: Most of Mister Cucco's cuccos are slaughtered in the battle by one of Athena's Firelight Arrows, much to her horror and Sheik's delight. They end up revived by her World-Healing Wave.
  • Breather Episode:
    • Chapter 7, "Relaxation", focusing on Zelda and Link hanging out with their respective friend groups, before later meeting up as Athena and Skeikhan Wolf.
    • Chapter 14, "Respite", in which Link and Zelda have their first official date, with Ravio and Hilda. Again, this is later followed up by the four meeting up in costume, where they run in to Tingle.
  • Bruce Wayne Held Hostage: Link is trapped in his house by Ice Maiden and separated from Bleddyn, who has to go to Impa for help.
  • Date Peepers: In Chapter 12, Ravio follows Link and Zelda outside in hopes of seeing Link confess his feelings to her. Hilda refuses to join him, claiming to be above snooping, but she offers Ravio her phone so he can record it for her in HD.
  • Elective Mute: Link has been unable to talk around Zelda for as long as he's known her, to the point that she believes he's completely mute and had learned sign language because of it, only finding out the truth after she starts school with him. He has no such problem talking to Athena, or when he meets Zelda as Sheikhan Wolf.
  • Entitled to Have You: Cia genuinely seems to value the childhood friendship she had with Link, but she has no interest in sharing him with his other friends and she's naturally pissed when he gets together with Zelda.
  • Evil Is Hammy: Most of the Gufuus, which even Boarova starts to tire of eventually:
Boarova: (rubbing his temples) I did it again, didn't I? I picked an absolute ham of a person...I should grab some painkillers while he runs around trying to find the heroes.
  • Evil Knockoff: Kafei becomes Shadow Wolf, as part of a plan to ruin Sheikan Wolf's reputation.
  • Fastball Special: Celhan tells Sheik and Tiamat to throw him at Ghirahim. "Can't exactly use a sword to fix the problem of a whole person bein' thrown at'cha. And he won't see me coming since he's chasing Athy." It knocks Ghirahim down, but he just teleports out from under him.
  • Full-Name Ultimatum:
Impa: Zelda Moira Callaghan, get back here! You are not to attend public school and that is final!
  • Glamour: Used to explain why the heroes can't recognise each other.
  • Heel Realization: Following the Ishtar attack, when Sheikan Wolf apologizes to Cia for his outburst, she acknowledges that he was right: no one likes her, and she pushed away her only friend Lana due to her own ego. She goes on to apologize for this and several previous Gufuu attacks, and later apologizes to Link for how she's treated him for years.
  • Hidden Depths: Cia shocks Lana by revealing she has a lot of knowledge of anime, manga, light novels, dating sims and visual novels, though she admits that she's only immersed herself in any of this because half of Link's heritage is wrapped up in it.
  • High School AU: The Legend of Zelda characters in a high school setting inspired by Miraculous Ladybug. There are some hints that this takes place in the distant future of one of the canon Zelda timelines, in particular an appearance by a ruined Hyrule Castle, though the story also references numerous real world locations.
  • I Need to Go Iron My Dog: During the Crimson Helm attack, Zelda has to run out on a White Day date with Link, giving the excuse (suggested by Brawynn) that, "My blood moon's risen again!" Link's reaction makes it pretty clear this is a euphemism for her period.
  • Intrepid Reporter: Nabooru starts a blog about the heroes, filling Alya's role from the series.
  • Jerk Jock: Groose is the story's stand-in for Kim, a former bully to Link who is still willing to do some of Cia's dirty work out of misguided loyalty, which he eventually grows out of.
  • Lame Pun Reaction: Athena has a few of these to Sheikhan Wolf's jokes.
  • Let Us Never Speak of This Again: Athena's reaction after the heroes' run-in with Tingle.
  • Love Makes You Evil: Cia (while pretty evil beforehand) becomes Ishtar in part as a result of jealousy over Link and Zelda's relationship. When she prioritizes this over getting the Miraculous, Boarova comments, "Note to self, no more romance-centred Gufuus."
  • Love Revelation Epiphany: Happens to Zelda after Link confesses to her.
  • Motor Mouth: Link's love confession in Chapter 12, because he feels the need to milk his sudden ability to talk to Zelda in case he loses it again.
  • My Hovercraft Is Full of Eels: When Zelda tries howling (while playing Truth or Dare), Bleddyn translates it as something about rabbits in trees and hunting berries. When Sheik howls back, Impa later tells him that he unwittingly said "Come and ravage me, my love".
  • Mythology Gag: The story has references to characters, bosses and dialogue from most if not all of the Zelda games. Amusingly, the school is named Harkinian Academy after King Harkinian from the CD-i Games, while Boarova references that version of Ganon at one point, saying "You dare breathe false light into MY domain?! YOU MUST DIE!"
  • Named by the Adaptation: In addition to most of the Zelda characters being given full names, Link's classmate Stalworth is clearly based on Skull Kid.
  • Not His Sled: A few Gufuus are based on Zelda bosses that were created from corrupted heroic characters, but not always the same ones in this fic. For example, in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Fyrus was once a Goron named Darbus who was corrupted by a Fused Shadow, but here it's Darunia who gets corrupted (despite Darbus appearing in the same chapter). Similarly, when Blizzeta appears, she's not Yeta (who doesn't appear at all), but Ashei, another character from Twilight Princess.
  • Odd Friendship: Hilda Driscoll, one of the richest heiresses in the country, and Agitha Lepidout, a bug-obsessed Cloudcuckoolander.
  • Oh, My Gods!: Farore, Din and Nayru are all used this way.
  • Pet the Dog: Played for laughs when Cia decides against stealing the cookies Link made Zelda for White Day, on the grounds that "It's not worth keeping cookies in my locker all day!" Given that this takes place some time after her Heel Realisation, it's open to interpretation whether this was the real reason.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Following the Wizzro attack, Cia expects the heroes to be grateful for helping them find where the Gufuu was hidden. Not so much:
Athena: You are a fool if you think that you're off the hook for your behavior today because you knew where the Gufuu was.
Tiamat: We each had to take a hit because you kept forcing yourself into a battle when you had no means of protecting yourself!
Celhan Rabbit: Just because our Miraculous keep us safe doesn't mean we don't feel the pain from that kinda thing! Some of us are still trying to get into the groove of battle, thank you very much! And my mask isn't ugly! (The others stare at him for that remark and he shrugs sheepishly)
Sheikan Wolf: Anyway… (turns back to Cia) You need to get off your high horse, eat the whole humble pie and actually think and learn that everybody has their own lives and feelings! We weren't born to serve your every whim and act like it's what's expected of us! You're no pure-hearted, fairy tale princess, you're the evil witch of a queen who opposes healthy growth and ruins everything for everyone, making us bow down or throwing us into the nearest dungeon the moment we stop! GET A GRIP OR GO HOME AND NEVER COME BACK!
    Athena: Wolfie…
Sheikan Wolf: (takes a step back to calm himself down) You get my point. Stop causing so many issues, or we won't be so heroic the next time you do this. Am I clear?
    Cia: C-Crystal.
  • Relationship Upgrade: Ravio and Hilda in Chapter 8, Link and Zelda in Chapter 12.
  • Secret-Keeper: Impa, as Link's trainer and Zelda's bodyguard, and Brawynn's former holder, is aware of both heroes' identities. Rauru re-enters the story in Chapter 11 in the role of the Guardian.
  • Seen It All: Zelda's mother Hylia takes it in stride when Sheikhan Wolf explains he's come through a time travel gate in the Korok Woods.
  • Sheltered Aristocrat: Zelda, like Adrien, defies her fathers wishes because she wants to attend public school. Overlaps with Rebellious Princess, though there's little indication the Hyrule royal family exists in this world.
  • Sixth Ranger: Once Rauru enters the picture, more Miraculouses start being handed out, and unlike in canon, the heroes are apparently not forced to return them.
    • In Chapter 11, Athena recruits Hilda as Tiamat, giving her the Miraculous of Fire and Reason.
    • In Chapter 12, Sheikhan recruits Ravio as Celhan Rabbit.
  • Slave Mooks: When Stalworth is turned into Majora, he turns four of his classmates into Odolwa, Goht, Gyorg and Twinmold.
  • Suddenly Speaking: Link starts to overcome his selective mutism around Zelda in Chapter 12.
  • Thinks of Something Smart, Says Something Stupid: In the aftermath of the Majora attack:
Link: Hey, Zelda? There's...s-something I wanna tell you.
    Zelda: Yes, Link?
Link: (Don't overdo it, just thank her for the dance. It's pretty obvious she likes my alter ego in a more romantic sense than me me.) I love you. (WAIT, WHAT.)
  • Two-Person Love Triangle: As with Miraculous, Link is in love with Zelda, while Athena develops a crush on Sheikhan Wolf. However, while Link has yet to see Athena as more than a friend and a partner, Zelda does realise she's in love with Link after his own confession.
  • Wham Episode:
    • Chapter 12, "Majora": Link tells Zelda he's in love with her, with his voice. She realises she feels the same.
    • Chapter 18, Polymnia: Ravio finds out Hilda is Tiamat.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Athena to Sheikhan Wolf after his reaction to what happens to the cucco tornado.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Link hates cuccos as a result of a childhood trauma, which naturally comes up when he's forced to fight Mister Cucco.
