- The Cameo: Whenever Elsa has nightmares, Pitch Black from Rise of the Guardians taunts Elsa with her fears before she wakes up.
- A Girl And Her X: Elsa becomes the first person to train a Snow Wraith.
- Hates Being Touched: Elsa has an immense fear of being touched, worried that she could accidentally go off without warning and hurt someone with her magic. She slowly opens up to Astrid and Hiccup, but even still won't take off her gloves.
- Living Emotional Crutch: Astrid becomes this to Elsa. Astrid is the only one who can keep the princess calm, acting as a surrogate mother to her, and when Astrid is sent away on a diplomatic mission, it ends up causing Elsa's powers to go off and engulf Berk.
- Never Found the Body: Elsa is presumed dead by Arendelle's royal family, the last person from their to see her being her nanny who tried and failed to save her from the sinking ship.
- Parental Substitute: Hiccup and Astrid (although particularly Astrid) become this for Elsa.
- The Power of Love: Elsa gets control of her powers through the inspiration of Hiccup and Astrid's paternal affection for her rather than Anna's sisterly love.
- Scare the Dog: Dragons are naturally very jumpy around Elsa, and this was before her big secret was revealed to the island.
- Shout-Out: It is mentioned that Elsa was to be sent to DunBroch to learn to control her powers.
- Suddenly Bilingual: Good thing that Hiccup, Astrid and their parents know Elsa's language (here referred to as "Trader's tongue").
