Go To

The Ghost Child and the Ghostbusters is a Danny Phantom/The Real Ghostbusters crossover fanfic by Agent-G.

The Mayor of Amity Park can’t stand those ghostly menaces running around.

Who’s he is gonna call?

Ghostbusters!

But when Vlad Plasmius, the arrogant fruit loop that he is, desires to once again toy with forces he doesn’t understand, it might take more than the Ghostbusters to save Amity Park from a new peril.

’’The Ghost Child and the Ghostbusters’’ contains the following examples:

  • Aren't You Going to Ravish Me?: A non-sexual example features when Morbius is draining ghosts of their power; when he dismisses the Box Ghost as "not worth his time", Boxy is offended and demands to have his power drained, though he quickly comes to his senses and flees.
  • Detrimental Determination: Danny is flabbergasted that Skulker keeps trying to fight him despite losing countless times.
  • Deus ex Machina: After Danny and Vlad's powers are stolen by Morbius, during the final battle, Danny initially appears to have sacrificed himself to set off a 'ghost bomb' to disrupt Morbius's ectoplasmic energy, but subsequently appears with his powers restored after Morbius reconstitutes himself using the ghost energy that couldn't return to its source as the ghosts were already trapped. Others speculate that Danny just got lucky enough to regain his powers before the blast could kill him, but Clockwork confirms that he took steps to save Danny's life without anyone knowing.
  • Guile Hero: Seeing Skulker put up a surprisingly good fight, Danny can win his fight with Skulker by manipulating him with taunts about his competence.
  • I Shall Taunt You: Danny distracts Skulker with some well-placed taunts, allowing him to sneak up behind Skulker and suck him into the Fenton Thermos.
  • Magic A Is Magic A: The anti-ghost technology of the Ghostbusters and the Fentons is equally useful, but they recognise that the other has their own strengths and specialities, such as the Fentons being able to keep ghosts out of particular areas with the Ghost Shield while the Ghostbusters' Ghost Trap technology wouldn't be capable of keeping ghosts out in the same manner without putting the humans inside at risk.
  • Oblivious to Love: Janine somewhat bitterly notes Egon’s seeming ignorance of her affections, but annoying notes he is too nice and kind to move on from.
  • Sealed Evil in a Can: Morbius is left trapped in a Fenton Thermos once the fight concludes. Since Morbius's nature means that putting him back in the Ghost Zone or in the Ghostbusters' containment unit would risk him starting his campaign all over again, Clockwork volunteers to take custody of the thermos himself, as he can slow down time so that it will remain locked.
  • Skewed Priorities: Despite being in danger while fighting Skulker, Danny is worried whether the destroyed car had coverage.
  • Year Inside, Hour Outside: At one point the Ghostbusters and the Fentons find themselves needing to assemble a wide range of equipment to face Morbius, after he has absorbed the power of several ghosts and turned them into essentially his brainwashed army. Recognising that they need aid, Clockwork visits them in Fenton Works and essentially freezes time outside the base so that the Fentons and the Ghostbusters will have time to complete their work before facing Morbius again.
