The End of Team Rocket[1] is an adventure/humorous pokemon fanfiction written by Recresta[2] on Fanfiction.net. This story follows Ash Ketchum, now champion of the Indigo League, trying to take on a new goal-to take down Team Rocket once and for all with the help of his pokemon and Gary Oak.

Story synopsis on Fanfiction.net: After his journey in the Kalos Region, Ash Ketchum is back in Kanto with a new goal: to stop a certain international crime syndicate that has been annoying him for, how long, now? With an overpowered Pikachu and a terrible sense of direction at his side, the Pokemon Trainer is on his way to a load of inconvenience...and Team Rocket trouble.

This fic provides examples of:

  • Achilles' Heel: Strangely enough, Ash's hands are this. When he gets injured, he has to bandage his hands and control his aura so his hands aren't overwhelmed by the aura. This results in him making aura wings to redirect his aura to that instead of his hands.
  • Action Girl: Pidgeot makes a return early on in this fic, and proves that she is just as strong as her other teammates. She also has a strong sense of feminism and gets annoyed anytime a person refers to everyone as "guys" when being general; despite the fact that she or another female was in the room.
  • Adaptational Intelligence: This trope applies to Ash. The pokemon trainer figures out the corruption in Kanto in the very first chapter and tries to do something to stop it. He also develops strategies throughout the entire fic when shown training with his pokemon.
  • Blatant Lies: Ash tells Vivi that he is comfortable with his aura powers, when he is anyhing but.
  • Friendly Rival: Ash and Gary have been rivals, though now Gary is working to become a professor, that rivalry has settled down. That doesn't stop them from engaging in a bit of fun every now and then.
  • Interspecies Friendship: Ash and Pikachu. Though, imagine Ash's surprise when he finds out about the amount of sass Pikachu has.
  • The Quiet One: Boldore shows up briefly for quite a few chapters-saying nothing much.
Ash: Boldore doesn't speak much, does he?
Pikachu: Nah, he's mostly a quiet guy.
  • Elemental Rivalry: Sceptile and Charizard are both of the grass and fire element respectively. The two of them are known to have a dislike for one another by everyone else. Since fire has an advantage over grass in the pokemon world, Sceptile and Charizard can be considered this trope.
  • Stealth Insult: Pikachu is most often seen doing this. It is actually pointed out by Ash very early on in the story.
Ash: You do that thing where you act all enthusiastic but actually say something like 'screw you!'
Pikachu Oh, yeah. I tend to do that a lot, huh. How do you think I made it past Unova?
  • No Sense of Direction: This is Ash in a nutshell. When Ash goes into a forest on his own, all his pokemon are wondering how Ash is going to find his way back to them.
  • Recruited from the Gutter: Vivi and Gallade. Both were rescued from Team Rocket when Ash stormed a Team Rocket base with his pokemon. After both of which decided to join Ash's team.
  • Childhood Friends: Ash and Gary both grew up in Pallet Town together.
