The Babysitter
is a Gravity Falls fanfiction by Plastic Strawberry 5. It is a prequel story about Soos Ramirez and Wendy Corduroy and their own adventures while growing up in the strange town.
This story has examples of:
- Action Girl: Despite being five years old in the story, Wendy gets into most of the action.
- Black Comedy: Most noticeably used by Robbie's mother who like in the show has a dark sense of humour despite being a very cheery person.
- Call-Back: The story gives some of the origins and explanations for various things in the show like Stan's bizarre crimes and the real reason Mr. Poolcheck lost his hand.
- City of Adventure: Gravity Falls, where every day brings a new paranormal creature or event to your door.
- Cool Old Guy: Stan saves the day multiple times.
- Damsel in Distress: Wendy when she gets stuck in the pool.
- Dude in Distress: Soos in the last chapter.
- Foreshadowing:
- It is implied that the Society of the Blind Eye will eventually find Soos, Wendy and Tambry and erase the paranoramal events from their minds so that they wouldn't remember them in the show.
- The final monster of the series is foreshadowed in the chapters leading up to its appearance.
- Improvised Weapon: Wendy uses a fence post to defend herself against the final monster.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Stan helping Manly Dan out through a rough time.
- Monster of the Week: Pretty much every paranormal thing the characters encounter.
