Tales from the Hypnoverse (previously known as The Tales of Milikan) by Angel the Wizard is a spin-off of Ginny Weasley: Double Life, a collection of one-shots or two to three-parters looking at the titular character of Milikan, a talking hypnotic snake, and similar snakes, meeting and hypnotising various characters to offer them love and comfort. One storyline is a crossover with the Spider-Verse trilogy, featuring a version of Ginny Weasley with spider-powers.

Some of the fics in this series can also be found on the author's Deviantart profile here.

The main fic has been deleted from FF.Net, but the author is contemplating revising and re-uploading the fics with a new over-arching storyline.

The Tales of Milikan contains examples of:

  • Ascended Extra: A few one-shots feature the snake that Harry saved from the zoo before he even went to Hogwarts, now named Juno and another example of a hypnotic, talking snake, Juno either returning for Harry or entrancing his family as ‘thanks’ for saving him.
  • Boldly Coming: In "Starstruck", Ginny's snake lover, Zellarom, is an alien.
  • Composite Character: The Spider-Verse arc features a version of Ginny Weasley who possesses spider-powers, while Dean Thomas has become a version of the Lizard with hypnotic powers.
  • T He Dreaded: In the Spider-Verse arc, the Hypno Lizard is Fire-Spider's most feared adversary, as she's terrified of the loss of control she experiences under his power.
  • Drunk on the Dark Side: In '"Songs of an Egyptian Goddess", flashbacks show how Femi was initially corrupted by her hypnotic powers, but after spending centuries in isolation she has become a kinder version of herself.
  • Fantastic Honorifics: In "Starstruck" (a crossover with Independence Day), Ginny’s alien master Zellarom refers to her as his ezan corbaiz, which essentially translates to ‘treasured possession’, although Ginny’s telepathic-induced language download gives her insight to recognise that the term means more than just a valued personal object. There is a reciprocal term in Zellarom’s language, but since Ginny can’t pronounce some of the syllables in that word, she simply calls him ‘master’ in turn.
  • Happiness in Mind Control: Particularly relevant in “Ginny’s Wish Come True” where Ginny encounters a real Kaa after becoming obsessed with the character in a variation of The Jungle Book (1967) and explicitly asks him to hypnotise her (fortunately, this Kaa is a good character who prefers to love and treasure humans rather than eat them).
  • Heroic Sacrifice: The Spider-Verse arc reveals that Fire-Spider's version of Luna was taken hostage by Kraven the Hunter to lure Ginny into a trap, and subsequently sacrificed herself so that Ginny could escape a collapsing tower rather than stay and almost certainly die trying to save them both.
  • Hypnotic Eyes: A trademark of the hypnotic snakes depicted in these one-shots.
  • I Let Gwen Stacy Die: In the Spider-Verse arc, Luna is the equivalent of this for Ginny, although unlike the original she chose to sacrifice herself so that Ginny could live.
  • In Spite of a Nail: During the Spider-Verse arc, the presence of Ginny and the Hypno Lizard doesn't have much of an impact on the overall plot, beyond the Prowler surviving.
  • Interspecies Romance: Snake/human relationships abound throughout this series.
  • Let's You and Him Fight: The titular conflict in “The Fight for Ginny” consists of four snakes fighting each other for the right to make Ginny their slave or servant.
  • Lighter and Softer: In "Ginny's Wish Come True", she becomes obsessed with Kaa after watching a version of The Jungle Book (1967) that featured a kinder Kaa who was trying to actively take care of Mowgli rather than eat him.
  • Oblivious Adoption: "Treasured Servants" features a form of this with Maddie; to ensure that the girl won't unwittingly "interfere" with Harry and Ginny's relationship, Milikan adds an extra layer of hypnotic commands so that the three believe that Maddie is Harry's long-lost sister.
  • Metaphorical Marriage: "Treasured Servants" in particular has Harry and Ginny marry Milikan in a symbolic ceremony performed by Maddie;
Maddie: And so, by the power vested in me by… us, I guess… I now pronounce you man, wife, and Mistress.
  • Mind-Control Eyes: In cases where the snake has hypnotic eyes, their partners develop these after succumbing to their influence.
  • Parental Substitute: In “Entranced Boy-Who-Lived”, while Harry and Milikan have a sexual relationship, there is a maternal element to Milikan’s affection for Harry, as her hypnosis inspires vague memories of how his parents cared for him before their deaths.
  • Screw This, I'm Out of Here!:
    • “Treasured Servants” sees Harry and Ginny accept Milikan’s offer to become her servants primarily so that they can get away from the wizarding world after so many people have basically rejected Harry for trying to tell the truth about Voldemort.
    • “Ginny’s Wish Come True” sees an eight-year-old Ginny, teased and rejected by others for her obsession with Kaa, begging Kaa to make her his servant so that she can get away from the people who don’t understand her interests.
  • Semi-Divine: In '"Songs of an Egyptian Goddess", Ginny's mistress is Femi, a mortal who was transformed into a goddess to save her from dying of a fatal disease.
  • Snakes Are Sexy: Applies to all such relationships.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: In the Spider-Verse arc, the presence of Fire-Spider results in the Prowler surviving and joining the Spiders in fighting the Kingpin's forces.
  • Subordinate Excuse: Most of the time, characters are hypnotised to remember making a ‘choice’ to become servants to the accompanying snake, and are always depicted as happy with their decision.
