Misato always wished that there was some way she could fight the Angels herself, instead of through the children. She had no idea that the power would practically fall into her lap, or that it would come in the form of a little green ring.
Superwomen of Eva 2: Emerald Courage
by Mike313 is a Superwomen of Eva story in which a dying Abin Sur, Green Lantern of Sector 2184, bestows his power ring to one Misato Katsuragi while she's on her way home following the defeat of Sandalphon the Tenth Angel.

- Amazonian Beauty: Oddly enough, done explicitly, as Misato uses the ring's powers to buff up her muscles, in addition to adding a mask and changing her hair color to maintain her Secret Identity.
- Back-to-Back Badasses: Misato and Wonder Girl against Legion.
- Battle in the Center of the Mind: Wonder Girl has one with Legion.
- Big Bad Wannabe: Amon Sur causes his father Abin Sur's death, and goes to Earth to finish the job...only to then run into Power Girl, who kills him when he tries to cow her through fear. The only thing he actually accomplishes is bringing his power ring to Earth, where it finds Gendo.
- Big Damn Heroes: During the Final Battle, Shinji brings Misato's power battery and distracts Gendo, giving her a chance to recharge her power ring.
- Broad Strokes: Something from the Sinestro Corps War happened, what with the very existence of the Sinestro Corps before Abin Sur's death.
- City of Adventure: Tokyo-3 already has an active population of superwomen by the time Misato gets her Green Lantern ring, including Power Girl and Wonder Girl.
- Cult: Misato's first outing as Green Lantern involves stopping one of these from performing a Human Sacrifice, though they don't appear to be organized enough to be a proper Religion of Evil.
- Determinator: Misato gets chosen by the ring because of her determination to fight the angels despite everything she's seen.
- Fight Off the Kryptonite: During the Final Battle, it turns out that the yellow impurity can be overcome by fighting your enemy despite your fears, like Misato does with the yellow ring construct of Adam.
- Hero of Another Story: Asuka, as Power Girl, undergoes an arc similar to that of her own story mostly off-screen, while Rei as Wonder Girl makes a major appearance helping Misato during the battle against Legion and a smaller one in the ''End of Evangelion'' sequence when she tries to face off against Gendo alone in Terminal Dogma, and gets The Worf Effect courtesy of his Yellow Lantern ring, with any other possible adventures happening off-screen as well.
- Hoist by His Own Petard:
- Green Lantern defeats her first Angel in Matarael, by redirecting its own acid back toward it.
- Amon Sur gets killed when he tries to terrify Power Girl into submission with her worst fear, not realizing that Asuka is the type to lash out when she's afraid.
- Ironic Echo Cut: When NERV loses power, we get the following lines:Misato: "Guess I'm stuck here until Ritsuko manages to fix whatever it is she broke." *end scene*Ritsuko: *next scene* "Hey, it's not my fault."
- Know When to Fold 'Em: Kaji does, when given the odds when Sahaquiel shows up. Too bad his Genre Blindness meant he didn't realize they all had Plot Armor.
- Man of Kryptonite: Legion, before being taken over by our much-hated Lilliputian Invader, was a suit of Powered Armor made in secret by NERV with the objective to kill the superwomen. Bearing in mind, the only Kryptonite Factor it really has is being painted yellow and loading yellow ammunition (given the time frame with respect to its Broad Strokes treatment of the events of Superwomen of Eva 2: Lone Heir of Krypton, it's unlikely it has actual kryptonite, though there's no confirmation either way). Against Wonder Girl, all it has is lots and lots of big friggin' guns. Which it uses with gusto.
- Mugging the Monster: Misato and Shinji's mini-golfing trip is interrupted by armed robbers.
- Mundane Utility: When Kaji attempts to catch the elevator Misato is on, she uses her power ring to slam the doors in his face.
- Pragmatic Adaptation: The backstory of Legion has been completely rewritten to fit the setting from its canon counterpart from the Origins Episode Emerald Dawn. It's still a hive mind in a powerful yellow robot body, though.
- Ring of Power: Misato's Green Lantern ring, naturally.
- Secret Identity: Misato realizes she needs one, as Gendo would brook no outside interference in the war against the Angels. So she uses her ring to alter her appearance as Green Lantern, making her more muscular and turning her hair black, among a few other things.
- Sequel Hook: The final scene has Misato receiving a message from the Guardians of the Universe (via her battery) for the first time, with her informing them of Abin Sur's death before they order her to report to Oa immediately...and a To Be Continued message indicating that the Sinestro Corps War is about to begin.
- Small Role, Big Impact: Amon Sur shows up looking for his father, gets in a fight with Power Girl, and is promptly killed. This lets his ring go to Gendo, and gives Misato some extra time before fighting him because Amon forgot to charge the ring and Gendo couldn't find the battery for a while.
- Spot the Thread: Misato does this in the fight against Leliel, when the angel uses illusions to make it seem like Misato's already destroyed the core. Misato almost falls for it, but her ring chooses just the right moment to pipe in with an interjection that her ring's power is at dangerously low levels and falling fast. The accelerated power usage was because Misato needed to use extra to survive within Leliel, so the notification makes Misato realize the core she destroyed was an illusion, and she's able to break free and locate the real one.
- Stripperiffic: Less Misato's Green Lantern outfit and more what she chooses to wear when mini-golfing with Shinji.
- Superman Stays Out of Gotham: More like "Power Girl is (in)conveniently in Berlin."
- Thou Shalt Not Kill: Downplayed. Green Lantern doesn't kill humans, but she has no problem killing Angels, which are the main threats of the story.
- Villainous Breakdown: Gendo is going through one during the final battle, when Rei bucks the Scenario, Misato interferes and destroys Rei's Clone Army, and finally Shinji shows up and taunts him about Yui not loving him. It's downplayed, but it's also Gendo showing emotions.
- Weak, but Skilled: A variant in the Final Battle. Despite the disadvantage of wielding a power ring that cannot affect anything yellow against a yellow power ring, Gendo hasn't been able to use his ring up until the final battle, while Misato has been using hers against Angels for a while. Even before she learns how to Fight Off the Kryptonite, she's able to hold her own because of her greater experience.
- Weaksauce Weakness: The color yellow, as is Green Lantern standard. It's because the color yellow represents fear, which counteracts the determination that Green Lanterns draw power from. However, it can be overcome by throwing non-yellow paint on the yellow object (as Misato does with Legion), or by acting despite feeling fear, as she does when faced by a construct of Adam the First Angel.
- Wolverine Publicity: Power Girl makes a sudden appearance out of left field and battles, then ultimately kills, Amon Sur of the Sinestro Corps while Misato's at the park, without her ring and completely unaware of what's going on. She also appears in a few other small scenes completely disconnected from the main plot in reference to events in her own story, and in the Final Battle outs herself and tears the MP-EV As apart.
