Still on My String
by Kainora shipper words-with-dragons is a Legend of Korra AU, in which the Equalist Movement takes place sometime after Harmonic Convergence. When a teenage Jinora is captured by the Equalists, the Lieutenant assigns Kai, who is a member of their group in this fic, to keep watch on her. As time passes, in spite of being on opposing sides, the two start to get friendly with each other, their relationship possibly even blossoming into something more.
The story is currently ongoing.

- Adaptational Villainy: Arguably, since Kai is part of a terrorist group here. Despite this he's still shown as being one of the more moral members of the Equalists.
- Alternate Universe Fic: Set some time after Harmonic Convergence where the Equalists haven't taken over Republic City as they did in canon.
- For Want Of A Nail / In Spite of a Nail: The nail being that Amon did not accelerate his plans upon Korra's arrival in Republic City like he did in canon. While some things are definitely different (Kai became an Equalist and an airbender much later than canon while Korra still can't access her airbending, possibly because she never faced Amon to save Mako's bending), Harmonic Convergence still ended with Korra leaving the Spirit portals open and the airbenders began to return.
- Jerkass: Yonra, The Ace of the young Equalist recruits who threatens Jinora with Prison Rape before Kai steps in.
- Lima Syndrome: Kai finds himself empathizing with Jinora, which grows strong enough to the point he helps her escape captivity.
- Love Triangle: Jinora has a boyfriend, an Air Aocylyte whom she is having difficulties with.
- Sleep Cute: When her cell gets cold, Kai brings in blankets to help warm her up. When that isn't enough, the two share it together to warm each other up.
- Starcrossed Lovers: Technically not lovers per say though its obvious the two have feelings for each other despite being on opposite sides.
- You Are What You Hate: Kai the Equalist, a member of a group that persecutes benders. Ironically becomes one like in canon.
