Fanfic / Sibling Revelry

Go To

Sibling Revelry is a Star Wars fanfic by frodogenic in which a DNA test run by a bored Imperial intelligence agent reveals that Luke has a sister. Unfortunately, that sister happens to be Leia Organa, whom previous intelligence suggests is also a romantic interest of his. While most Imperials just take this as an example of depraved behavior by rebels, Darth Vader, who recently learned that Luke is his son, is not just going to stand by and wait to have inbred grandchildren. Hilarity Ensues.

The fic can be read here.

Sibling Revelry includes the following tropes:

  • And There Was Much Rejoicing: Based on the lack of alcohol available in Mos Eisley, this is heavily implied to be the reaction to Jabba's death.
  • Asshole Victim: Most of the people who die in the series are in the Imperial Navy or at Jabba's Palace, so generally aren't great.
  • Attack Hello: Luke thinks that he didn't expect his reunion with Han to be the smuggler, drunk on whiskey, charging into view, tackling him to the floor, and pounding the daylights out of him for stealing Leia. Luckily, Leia breaks it up by kissing Han into silence.
  • Brother–Sister Incest: While the actual fic averts this, Luke and Leia invoke it to screw with the Empire by announcing to everyone that they're actually happier to have found out that they're siblings, as it means that by being married they'll be closer than ever.
  • Dies Differently in Adaptation: Jabba is offed by Vader after mistaking him for a fake.
  • Faint in Shock: The comically stoic Darth Vader faints once he hears reports that Leia might be pregnant.
  • Fake Relationship: Luke and Leia start pretending to be in a relationship once they realize that Fred Antilles is really against it, in order to prank him.
  • Foreign Cuss Word: A great many cuss words from languages in the Star Wars universe show up untranslated.
  • In Spite of a Nail: Several of the events from Return of the Jedi still happen despite the massive changes to canon.
  • I Need a Freaking Drink:
    • This is Han's reaction when he gets back to what he believes is Luke and Leia's engagement party. Thankfully they set him straight, but not after he gets sloshed and has attacked Luke.
    • Fred Antilles (a.k.a. Imperial spy Karlino van Hermahutt) downs a whole bottle of champagne when he hears that Luke and Leia's relationship will be closer now that they know they are siblings.
  • Internal Reveal:
    • Vader learns that Luke and Leia are siblings earlier than in-canon, a fact that the audience already knows. He's incredibly horrified.
    • Luke and Leia later learn as well and take the news in stride, seeing as they're just friends anyway.
  • Karma Houdini: Fred/Karlino escapes before he can be revealed as a spy.
  • Laugh Themselves Sick: After Fred Antilles staggers out of the room after Luke and Leia announce that their relationship will be even closer as both siblings and spouses, the whole room collapses into laughter, with Han being almost paralyzed with mirth.
  • Liquid Courage: Newly de-carbonized Han has just returned to the Rebel base and is despondent upon hearing the news that Luke and Leia are together. "Fred Antilles", seeing an opportunity, goads him into getting his girl back, whereupon Han downs another cup of whiskey and tackles Luke out of nowhere.
  • Mistaken for Pregnant: Leia becomes quite ill with Dymian flu later in the fic and is routinely at the med center as a result. "Fred Antilles" concludes that she's actually pregnant and suffering from morning sickness.
  • Mistaken for Romance:
    • Luke and Leia. While most rebels don't really seem to think so (as most are betting on Han and Leia being a thing), the Empire somehow has intel that they're romantically linked.
    • One-sided version, but the entire reason Luke, Leia, and their friends decide to mess with "Fred Antilles" is because they think he's a Stalker with a Crush towards Leia.
  • The Mole: "Fred Antilles", who is actually an Imperial spy by the name of Karlino van Hermahutt. Thankfully, he appears to be both a terrible spy and is stuck with the mission of breaking up Luke and Leia.
  • Noodle Incident: Apparently previous pranks by the Rogue Squadron involved snakes and thongs. These are not elaborated on.
  • Platonic Life-Partners: Luke and Leia have naturally evolved into having a relationship like this.
  • Poor Communication Kills: Vader had the sense to use a backdoor channel the Rebels use to talk with their families to try and get in contact with Luke and Leia and explain them why they shouldn't be in a romantic relationship, but makes the dire error of sending a message to both of them, prompting them to dismiss it as a prank in poor taste.
  • Refuge in Audacity: Vader showing up at Jabba's palace and demanding Han is mistaken for this by almost everyone in the room, as they think someone had the balls to dress up as Vader to try and intimidate Jabba. Everyone but Lando, who recognizes him as the real deal on the spot and runs before the place is leveled from orbit.
  • Relationship Sabotage: Attempted, but since the "couple" in question were never actually romantically involved, the clumsy attempts at sabotage only encourage them to further mess with Leia's apparent stalker.
  • Relative Error: Unusual in that the relatives in question, Luke and Leia, do not know they're siblings when being mistaken for a couple by the Empire.
  • Screw This, I'm Out of Here!:
    • A lot of Imperial personnel leave as Vader's tantrums grow more and more erratic.
    • Lando books it from Jabba's palace once he realizes that Vader has shown up for Han. Thankfully, he's still nearby to help Han in the aftermath.
    • After Luke and Leia announce that they're both siblings and are going to get married, Fred Antilles leaves both the Alliance and the Empire, the former because he's thoroughly squicked out and the latter because he's seemingly failed his mission.
  • Shipper on Deck: Hilariously, both "Fred Antilles" and Vader are this for Leia and Han, though more out of desperation to keep Luke and Leia separate than for actual interest in the two of them. Vader breaks his console at the cognitive dissonance.
Vader's internal monologue (which sounds like Obi-Wan): You do realize what this means. You're going to have to liberate a known Rebel—Then let him run away free as a bantha cub so he can paw his grimy hands all over your daughter!
  • Squick: In-universe, Vader is horrified/disgusted at the idea that his son and daughter might be an item, and attempts to intervene for the sake of his potential grandchildren.
  • Sustained Misunderstanding: Nothing Fred/Karlino or Vader witness in Luke and Leia's interactions (Luke giving Leia a promise ring, Leia spending more time than usual in the 'fresher) dissuade them from their conclusion that they're a couple. Especially not after they and Rogue Squadron notice Fred's reactions and decide to start pranking him.
  • Your Costume Needs Work: Jabba isn't impressed by the schlub waltzing onto his vessel wearing a Darth Vader costume and trying to intimidate him... until the red lightsaber comes out.
