Semblance
is an AU of RWBY, in which the world that Team RWBY exists in is actually a future Earth, changed by a series of periodical explosions with no known cause that caused first the Faunus, Aura, Dust, the broken moon and the Grimm, and within the story itself, Semblances.
- Adaptational Wimp: None of the RWBY characters initially have a Semblance, only getting them within the story itself.
- After the End: The explosions and their consequences completely reshape Earth, and after a few generations it more resembles canon Remnant. For example, the former Cuba became Vytal, the United States and Canada Atlas, etc.
- Arc Number: 4. Besides the canon examples of there being four members to each team, four Kingdoms (not counting Menagerie), and four Huntsmen Academies, etc., the explosions that caused the world to change each time occur in years that are multiples of four.
- Big Brother Is Watching: Atlas apparently has near-constant surveillance of the civilian population.
- How Do I Shot Web?: Since Semblances only appear after the story itself starts, the characters have some trouble figuring things out to begin with.
- Mass Super-Empowering Event: Besides the older explosions that transformed some humans into Faunus, made Aura a thing, etc., Semblances only appear several chapters into the story as the result of one.
