Heather: Move along. You're done with me.

Resisting the Incubus is a romantic drama Total Drama fanfiction by SideshowJazz1. It focuses on an AU in which vampires exist, and Total Drama never existed. In it, Alejandro is a nocturnal vampire who seduces random women before feeding on them each night, and comes across Heather, who reacts with more immunity to his charm than any girl has before, prompting him to take an interest in her. he comes back to feed on her over and over, often visiting her without the intentions of feeding on her, and plans to eventually turn her into a vampire too.

Resisting the Incubus contains examples of:

  • Aborted Arc: José returning to make Alejandro's life difficult. He is eventually Put on a Bus since there wasn't much left to do with him, and it was replaced by Courtney's arc.
  • Alpha Bitch: Heather herself. She's the most popular, beautiful girl in school, leads a group of popular girls, and is often mean to those around her.
  • Annoying Younger Sibling: Heather mentions that her little brother always messes up her stuff.
  • Beauty Is Bad:
    • Mainly Alejandro, but Heather qualifies as well.
    • Also Courtney, who's suggested to be beautiful with big dark eyes, but is jealous of Heather's popularity and doesn't hide her feelings.
  • Belligerent Sexual Tension: Heather's relationship with Alejandro starts off this way, and carries on throughout.
  • Berserk Button: Insulting Heather within Alejandro's earshot is not a good idea, as Courtney discovers.
  • Big Brother Bully: Alejandro had one when he was human, who was better than him at everything. It later turns out that he is also a vampire — turned by the same vampire that transformed Alejandro, as is later discovered — and visits frequently while he's staying in town.
  • Breaking and Bloodsucking: Alejandro's approach to getting into a potential victim's house.
  • The Casanova: Alejandro routinely has sex with the girls he feeds on. He claims that giving girls pleasure is 'payment' for taking their blood, but his true motives are selfish: he enjoys it, and it eliminates the problem of them waking up while he's in the process of feeding.
  • Cool Kid-and-Loser Friendship: Lindsay's best friend is a dorky girl called Beth. Despite being mentioned as being allowed to hang around with the populars, she is never actually seen with them.
  • Cursed with Awesome: Heather's initial reaction to becoming a vampire. She eventually admits that there are benefits.
  • Daywalking Vampire: The sun doesn't affect vampires at all. When Heather becomes a vampire, she chooses not to be nocturnal like most vampires.
  • Dirty Mind-Reading: Something Heather experiences when she finally finds out that she can get into Alejandro's mind, and sees some of the dreams he's had about her.
  • Dream Walker: A subversion. Alejandro can't enter Heather's dreams, but their bond means that if one is asleep and the other is awake, they can communicate through each other's dreams.
  • Dreaming the Truth: Heather says she's not interested in Alejandro. If that's true, why does she keep having both romantic and erotic dreams about him? It is stated outright that none of them even come close to nightmares.
  • Dumb Blonde: Lindsay, to the point where Heather and Dakota can openly talk about vampire lore, relate it back to Heather and she still doesn't realize that they're talking about real life.
  • Eternal Love: The way Alejandro views his relationship with Heather. Unfortunately, Heather still feels she needs time to come to terms with her immortality after finishing school and disappears for a few years, but her feelings eventually come full circle and they're back together by the end.
  • Even Evil Has Standards:
    • Alejandro has no qualms about the way he feeds, but he never feeds any more than he has to in order to survive, and while he won't give up on making Heather a vampire, he looks after her when his repeated feedings on her make her ill.
    • Heather is generally mean and cruel to everyone she meets, but she draws the line at hurting her best friend and when she finds out Courtney has left school due to being pregnant, she tells Dakota and Lindsay, but tells them to keep it secret.
  • The Ghost: Gwen is repeatedly mentioned by various characters, but never actually appears.
  • Give Geeks a Chance: Dakota, one of the prettiest and most popular girls in school, confides in Heather that she has a crush on gamer geek Sam.
  • Gratuitous Spanish: Alejandro states that Spanish is his first language, although he is fluent in English, to the point that he barely has any accent. However, he likes to slip Spanish words into his speech. At one point, he tells Heather he does it "because most women love it".
  • Hair of Gold, Heart of Gold:
    • Dakota may be a shallow fame-seeker, but she is a good friend to Heather throughout the story.
    • Lindsay never returns Heather's meanness in kind and remains unwaveringly supportive.
    • Bridgette immediately helps Courtney when asked, despite their friendship ending years before.
  • I Love You, Vampire Son: The romantic version of this trope, since Alejandro chooses to turn Heather because he believes they can only be together if they're both vampires.
  • I Love You Because I Can't Control You: Alejandro's attraction to Heather begins this way. He does attempt to change things and make her compliant, but when it works, he discovers that Victory Is Boring and tells Heather of his intentions to conquer her in order to make her turn back to the girl he fell for.
  • Kiss of the Vampire: Alejandro appears to think his seduction of the girls he feeds on are this trope, as all of them seem to enjoy the pleasure leading up to it.
  • Love Makes You Evil: Alejandro won't stop feeding from Heather, no matter how angry she gets. He does it because he wants them to be together, but is convinced it can't happen unless they're both vampires.
  • Mindlink Mates: Alejandro tries to invoke this trope by marking Heather, which causes them to have some telepathy and be able to read each other's minds at certain times. Heather only learns the effects after a while, and only later learns how to use the link.
  • Our Vampires Are Different: Vampires are not affected in any way by the sun, they only have to feed once a week, and repeated feeding has strange effects on a victim, due to the effects slowing down the regeneration of blood cells.
  • Really 700 Years Old: Alejandro is 80 years old at the start, but he appears to be seventeen.
  • Romantic Vampire Boy: Alejandro may only be out for himself, but he has the manner of a gentleman.
  • Vampire Bites Suck: Subverted as the vampire actually has no control over how the bite affects their victim. Their symptoms worsen the more times they are fed on within a certain amount of time. The progression shows with Heather feeling weaker than usual the first three times, unable to concentrate the fourth, showing flu-like symptoms the fifth and sixth, having raised emotional triggers the seventh, significantly slower reflexes the eighth and one day or paralysis the ninth, while the tenth feeding finishes their transformation into vampire.
  • Vampire Hickey: Everyone bitten by a vampire has these. They usually fade within a week. Heather's original bite mark has the most attention, but Courtney mentions having those marks and not knowing where they came from, and Dakota mentions in passing that Katie had bite marks at one point.
  • Vampires Are Sex Gods: Somewhat subverted in that Alejandro, while clearly having taken the virginity of half the girls in the high school, could probably have had the same effect when he was human.
  • Vampires Hate Garlic: Brought up when Dakota jokingly asks if being at a sleepover with a vampire requires garlic. Heather replies that it isn't dangerous to vampires, but just the thought of it is repugnant.
  • You Are What You Hate: Heather hates it when Alejandro manipulates her or uses compulsion on her. It is stated later on that she is just as much of a master manipulator.
