Resident Evil: A Brother's Promise
is a Resident Evil Fan Fic written by XAgent-Venom666X.
The fic is a novelization of the Resident Evil 2 remake, with the addition of OC William "B.J." Birkin, Sherry's older brother. Recently discharged from the Marine Corps, B.J. returns home to Raccoon City in the midst of the outbreak, where he teams up with Claire Redfield to survive and find his sister.
The fic contains examples of the following tropes:
- Affectionate Nickname: Sherry calls B.J. "Billy."
- After Action Patch Up: Chapter 10 has B.J. and Claire doing this to one another after their first confrontation with Mr. X.
- Artificial Limbs: B.J.'s right leg is revealed to be a prosthetic in chapter 7, after a zombie dog bites it.
- Big Brother Instinct: B.J. is fiercely protective of Sherry. When Chief Irons shows up and tries to kidnap her, he makes sure he doesn't succeed.
- Brains Evil, Brawn Good: Of a sort. William and Annette Birkin are Mad Scientists working for Umbrella who created the G-virus, and expected B.J. to follow in their footsteps. Instead, B.J. elected to join the Marines.
- Demoted to Extra: Thus far, Leon has only physically appeared once; his role is largely taken by B.J.
- Practically Different Generations: B.J. is ten years older than Sherry, and also her main parental figure considering their parents' obsession with their work at Umbrella.
