There, burning brightly, the most amazing and beautiful thing he had ever seen shone with a light like no other.

Kirito: Okay, this should be simple enough. There is no way I can screw this up, so let's see…Illuminate the Room!
Suguha: …Onii-chan…is that in your hand…a sun?
Kirito: Ehm…no. I-if we're being technical, this is just a Supercompressed White Dwarf.
Suguha: …oh. (falls down, unconscious)
Kirito: Fuck! What do I do with this thing?! I have to help Sugu! But…I don't know how to unsummon it…Go away! Vanish! Goodbye star! GAH! I should have read the whole manual!
Chapter 1: How to be a God…for Dummies

Requiem Universus, is a Sword Art Online fanfiction by SaintInfernalNeos.

The might to create stars. The energy to burn planets. The ability to warp reality to his very Will. All of this Power...was NOT meant for Kirigaya Kazuto. He was just a boy who had been trapped inside a Death Game. Now, free and confused, he has to deal with having the powers of some sort of Space God. Also, the True Owner of said powers is pissed, and really wants them back...

The fanfic can be found here. After a long hiatus to focus on his other works, SaintInfernalNeos recently declared it a Dead Fic and is opening it for adoption.

Requiem Universus provides examples of:

  • Accidental Hero: Yhmos' attempt to possess Kirito ended up backfiring, caused SAO to end early (Before the 74th Floor Boss Fight to be exact), and killed Sugou, ensuring many were saved from death and experimentation.
  • Animate Inanimate Object: Elucidator the phone-bot and Fuu-chan the plushie.
  • Cat Fight: Between Asuna and Suguha in Chapter 5. note
  • Clothing Damage: At the end of Asuna and Suguha's Cat Fight in chapter 5, their clothes were wrecked with Asuna's skirt and Suguha's shirt and jacket nearly destroyed entirely. Again with Sinon when she first fused with Hecate and whenever she summoned it afterwards.
  • Death by Adaptation: Sugou was killed in the Prologue. Not that anyone cares.
  • Didn't Think This Through: At the end of Chapter 4 note , Yhmos and the MHCPs lure Kirito into VR to try and take his powers back...only to realize that they have NO WAY of actually taking them back or forcing Kirito to hand them over. Kirito's reaction sells it.
  • Doorstopper: In-Universe, Kirito describes the manual that came with his Cosmic Powers as one to justify why he hasn't read through the whole thing and gained full control of his powers yet.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: The Star Hunters, including Moria, who are willing at this point to destroy the Earth to kill Kirito and Yhmos, are disgusted by Project Alicization, seeing it as ultimate proof that Humans Are Bastards deserving to be wiped out.
  • Exotic Eye Designs: When Kirito or his Anchors use Cosmic Power their eyes turn to 12-pointed blue-white stars.
  • Functional Magic: Mystery weaving/crafting. Is of the Force Magic variety.
  • Fusion Dance: Asada Shino and Hecate ultimately merge in the Mixed Form Shapeshifter variety.
  • General Ripper: Moria of the Star Hunters who is all out unpleasant, and the most willing to take drastic measures culminating with him deciding to destroy the Earth and its inhabitants just to kill Kirito and Yhmos.
  • Glamour: Upon being gaining his powers, Kirito notices that his body is perfectly healthy with some muscle. However, everyone else still sees him as thin and skinny as someone who was in a 2-year coma would expect to be. Same happens with Asuna, Lizbeth, and Silica when they become Anchors.
  • How Do I Shot Web?: Upon discovering his powers, Kirito makes a few mistakes trying to figure them out resulting in strange and unpredictable consequences such as the situation in the quote on top of the page and turning his phone and Sugu's plush toy sentient. It has more or less become a running gag where he messes up and someone else tells him to read the manual.
  • Infodump: This is the main purpose of the Omakes: The first set is on the background info of SaintInfernalNeos's Omniverse and Yhmos's Homeworld. The second set covers The Star Hunters. The third set is a holy book heavily implied to have been written by Argo after the events of the story that summarizes future events that will take place in the story.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: When discussing how to handle the Star Hunters, Yhmos advocates eliminating them outright. When Kirito protests and advocates a more diplomatic approach to resolve things peacefully, Yhmos claims he's too soft and that the Star Hunter's would be so Hellbent on killing him that they wouldn't listen and have zero qualms to use any means necessary to do so regardless of collateral damage or uninvolved bystanders getting caught in the crossfire. Considering that the Star Hunters decide to lure him out by causing a huge blackout across 4 entire Prefectures (on New Year's Eve), Elysium outright refused to listen to or believe Kirito's explanations and actually killed him (temporarily) and that Moria has proven completely capable and willing to harm uninvolved civilians and wipe out the Earth just to kill him he turns out to be right.
  • Murder Is the Best Solution: Yhmos advocated this when the Star Hunters arrive. Kirito naturally refuses and wants to try and settle things peacefully.
  • Original Character: Yhmos and the other alien characters were created for this story. .
  • Parental Substitute: By complete and total accident, Yhmos became this for Yui (and the other MHCPs) rather than Kirito and Asuna.
  • Power Tattoo: The characters who become Kirito's Anchor's all gain the symbol of a blue 12 pointed star on their bodies. Suguha has it above her cleavage, Asuna and Liz on the back of their right and left hands respectively, Silica on her lower back and Yuuki and Aiko on their respective left and right inner thighs. note
  • Psychic Link: Between Kirito and his Anchors. Backfires somewhat when he and Suguha have sex and the others find out through it, resulting in an...awkward sleep and awakening for the other girls.
  • Read the Freaking Manual: Kazuto has so many How Do I Shot Web? incidents that it becomes a running gag for someone to tell him to completely read the manual for his powers.
  • Reality Warper: Comes with the powers Kirito got from Yhmos. Of course, it's not the most reliable way to use them. It's better to craft a Mystery.
  • Shapeshifter Baggage: In Chapter 12 note , Hecate somehow compresses all the extra metal they acquired earlier. Shino states that “That…makes no sense.” Even compressed she should still be weighing a ton. Hecate says not to try to apply earth-logic to it. She's just that high-tech.
  • She's All Grown Up: Yui gets a more mature and adult looking avatar later on.
  • Shout-Out:
  • Super-Empowering: Kirito's Anchors all gain special powers from their bonds. These included the above psychic link, superhuman physical abilities, Spontaneous Weapon Creation, a Healing Factor that allowed them to recover from the atrophy of being stuck in SAO or AIDS in Yuuki and Ran's case and some of their own unique manifestations:
  • Talking Weapon: Hecate talks to Sinon after being given life.
  • Time Master: Kirito's go to for fixing damaged property. Also used to evade cameras in Chapter 7. note
  • Weapon Wields You: Hecate decides that it knows how best to use its abilities and so directs Shino in its own use. This is before they end up in a Fusion Dance.
