Rekindle the Stars
is a Pretty Cure fanfic, involving all season up to Star★Twinkle Pretty Cure.
Set in a fantasy world where The Bad Guys Win and the Pretty Cure were defeated, the end of the world is as close as ever. But hope still hasn't died.
Scattered around the various kingdoms, the Pretty Cure have to unite against all the enemies they faced.
A sequel has been made to this story called The Grief that Swallows the Sun.
This fanfic contains example of:
- Adaptational Heroism:
- Sasorina, Kumojacky and Cobraja decided that turning the world into a desert simply wasn't worth it after Dune's death and decided to build a city for the Desert Apostles. Even more, they actually request the Pretty Cure to help them expel the agents of Nightmare from said city and rescue the Baron Salamander.
- Of more or less the same route, Wolfrun, Akaoni and Majorina aren't willing to battle (even if at first Akaoni looked like he did) and are trying to give independence to the citiziens from the Bad End Kingdom.
- Big Bad Ensemble: Nightmare and Eternal have joined forces and merged together. Same with the Dusk Zone and Dark Fall, though fight for the power are still open. The others are mainly independent to the others.
- Demoted to Extra:
- The Go Princess, Hugtto, and Star Twinkle team are not as relevant as the others. Heck, the Go Princess and the Star Twinkle lived thousands of years before the events of the fic. Copies of them are however summoned by Queen Mirage to defeat whoever opposes her.
- Most Pretty Cure also get this. For example, Megumi, Mirai and Ichika are nowhere near as relevant as they are in canon.
- Disappointed by the Motive: Setsuna basically go into an Heroic BSoD once she finds out that the reason for Moebius's cruel reign was because he was simply a faulty program.
- Downer Beginning: The whole premise of the fic is that The Bad Guys Win, the Pretty Cure were defeated and the world is ending. Lovely.
- Face–Heel Turn: Some Pretty Cures are stated to have defected to have their life saved, among them Rosetta and Aqua, though it's later revealed that they were playing double agent.
- Killed By The Adaptation:
- The Go Princess and Star Twinkle team are Posthumous Characters in this.
- Instead of being purified, Queen Mirage is killed towards the very end of the fic.
- Taking You with Me: Klein tries to kill the Pretty Cure with an invisible black hole, not caring one bit that he will die along with them.
