5 years has it been since Shu had fallen from his throne and lost his crown. But now, just as he is about to accept his crushing defeat and live with the bitter taste of loss, he makes the sudden realization that only death can end a king's reign. He may be a fallen one, but a king he still is nonetheless. He will reclaim his throne and reunite with his queen or die trying.

Reclaiming the Throne is an epic story written by GuiltyKingOumaShu based on the Guilty Crown series. The story takes place 5 years after the anime events. Shu Ouma, the boy who saves the world from GHQ and Da'ath, tries to have a normal life. However, once he starts making contact with people who have died to the effects of the Apocalypse Virus through mysterious visions, he starts to doubt that his normal life would start soon. Realizing that his friends and love are stuck in a never ending war with his crazy sister, he thus decides to venture into the mysterious void realm to bring an end to the conflict and save the people dear to him. Unaware that by doing so, he would start an even bigger conflict as a whole...he would soon learn that his sister is actually the least of his troubles.

Around August 2014, the story returned from a year-long hiatus to begin the second arc. It has been confirmed that this fanfic will have four arcs which will be aimed to give the impression of being books.

The main arcs:

  • Reclaiming the Throne (Ch. 1 - 9)
  • Reclaiming the Kingdom (Ch. 10 - 31)
  • Reclaiming the Queen (Ch. 32 - ??)
  • Reclaiming the World

Other Stories

  • Reclaiming the Knowledge: An almanac written by a Da'ath member to give some background information about their general goals and terminology.
  • Yours forever: An M-rated chapter which is part of the original story. It is the uncensored version of its 24th chapter. It contains a lemon scene.
  • Hare's little secret: Another M-rated one-shot which features Hare's imagination of joining Shu and Inori's love making back in 'Yours forever'.
  • Reclaiming the deleted scenes: In a world in which Mana didn't go bonkers,Da'ath left everyone alone and nobody freaking died to anything, a world was formed in which everything was just right. Follow the Ouma family through their everyday lives where their only problem for Inori is to get along with her sister-in-law, for Hanae to learn how to be a proper princess and for Shu to keep his pinkettes happy and fed.
  • Survivor's Guilt: Princess Hanae Ouma always knew deep down that she would be queen one day. What she didn't know, though, was what it would mean for her. When humanity suddenly starts a genocide against the Genesis of the world, a tragedy that was meant to only happen in the far future is suddenly pushed forward in time, and Hanae is forced to show the world that she can grow thorns as well.

The story provide examples of:

  • Adaptational Badass: Shu Ouma becomes one at the start of this fanfic. Inori takes a proactive role.
  • Adaptational Villainy: Nanba, one of the bullies from episodes 13-18, seems to be one in chapter 5. Even his cohorts are one as well.
  • Alternate Continuity: Despite being a sequel to the anime, looking back at the story serves more like an AU sequel with canon contradictions. One example is back in canon showed a rebuilt Loop 7 by the epilogue of the anime, while this story ignores that in showing that Loop 7 is still in construction (and where the main conflicts of the story occur in that area). Another contradiction is that this story mentioned Shu cleansing the world in the anime's final episode occurred in the 13th of December, but in actually, the canon anime's final episode happened around the 25th of December (and Gai did mention the warning in beginning of the canon Episode 20). Another alteration is Nanba's Void since while in canon is simply a knuckle-duster, this story changes it to have him using Wolverine claws. There are instances where Yuu's appearance is referred as a young man, yet in canon states that Yuu is an ageless boy and implies in not truly be human. The main alteration is that because Reclaiming the Throne was written before general fans' thoughts of Inori's spirit inside Shu's mind become prominent over the years, the story ignores that close-to-canon theory while focusing on the AU concept of Inori residing in the Void Realm as queen before being saved by Shu.
  • Anti-Villain: Mana and even Gai returning plays this part.
    • Argo plays this role later on.
  • Apocalypse Maiden: Inori/Mana as usual.
  • Ascended Extra: Minor characters such as Argo, Jun (Yahiro's brother), and Nanba's pack have given more screen time.
  • The Atoner: Keido is this when he meets Shu in the void world.
  • Ax-Crazy: An apparition of Mana remains the same Yandere she was in the past.
  • Big Bad
    • Reclaiming the Throne has Mana and Gai.
    • Reclaiming the Kingdom once again has Mana/Gai in the first half. The second half reveals Argo as one.
  • BFS: The Singer's Sword as Inori's void makes its return. Alongside Mana's copy which can be refer as the 'Dancer's Sword' from a reader's perspective.
  • Darker and Edgier: It is a much darker and unforgiving sequel to the anime relating to the world's harshness, with a lot of grey areas to all factions, and giving Dark Reprise callbacks of the anime for Shu and Inori's developments.
  • Greater-Scope Villain: Yuu/Da'ath are the main antagonists overall.
  • Grey-and-Gray Morality: This is one of the big themes of this story. Most of the characters have reasons to accomplish their goals, alongside the descriptions of how humans are selfish to challenge the world.
  • Our Ghosts Are Different: The people who died in the anime make their reappearances in the void world.
  • Rule of Symbolism: Like the anime, there are symbolism of 'Adam & Eve', life and death, and the fact that the main character seeks to reclaim his own kingdom.
  • Scenery Porn: The descriptions of the void realm is astounding.
  • Shout-Out: In Chapter 2, Code Geass is mentioned, seeing how this show inspires Guilty Crown alongside the same writers. The anime was release in 2006 while this story takes place in 2044, Code Geass is dated by this time, but it holds up for current generations such as Tsugumi and Shu to watch it.
    • In general, the story has lots of references to Game of Thrones due to the author being a huge fan of the series. It characterizes Shu's role as being the king, alongside warring factions in a civil war against each other.
    • The concepts of the void realm have references of PlanetSide.
    • Tarone, an OC is based on Tyreese from The Walking Dead and Gabriel Tosh from StarCraft.
    • In Chapter 30, Jun's void has the ability to hack machinery.
    • The end of Chapter 31, after Shu kills Argo, he reorganize the Undertakers to be more like Emperor Lelouch's kingdom.
  • The Starscream: Gai and Mana have intentions to overthrow Da'ath and ruling their own kingdom.
    • At the same time, Nanba has similar motivations.
  • Tempting Fate: There is a lot of choices that the 'king' makes as a young adult.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: Argo Tsukishima reveals to be one, believing that killing Inori is the only way for the world's safety and Shu's loyalty to the Undertakers.
