Go To

Reaching Zenith is a sequel to Persona 3, Persona 4, and Persona 5, taking place in Tokyo, with several strong elements of all three games.

Rin Arisato is expelled from Gekkoukan High, forcing her to move all the way to Tokyo to live with the Oshiro family so she can attend Shujin Academy, the only school willing to take her. Rin just wanted to survive school, not be dragged into fighting Shadows and leading a phantom thief team. Even before she had moved to Tokyo, there had been an unsolved case where people have been showing up dead, with no signs of cause of death. Rin find herself stumbling into the Shadow nest called Mnemosyne and ends up awakening to her Persona, Jeanne d'Arc.

Other second generation include Sora Narukami, the son of Yu and Rise, Rin's cousins Rui Shirogane and Hotaru Sanada, Iruka Hanamura, Yosuke and Chie's son, Akemi Amagi, the daughter of Yukiko, Ryo Iori, Junpei and Chidori's son, Toshi Aragaki, the son of Shinjiro and Fuuka, and Akio Oshiro, the son of Kaito and Anne Oshiro.

The author is currently in the process of rewriting the story as Papillion Hearts.

Examples

  • Badass Family: The Arisato-Shirogane family, as it's the only family in the story that can boast of three Wild Cards. All of the members possess some kind of Persona, as well.
  • Beach Episode: It happens on Yakushima.
  • Beauty, Brains, and Brawn: Out of the three first girls, there's Akemi as the Beauty, Rui as the Brains, and Rin as the Brawn.
  • Belligerent Sexual Tension: Akio is flirtatious and Rin is a Tsundere Type A. You do the math.
  • Blind Without 'Em: It turns out that Akio is blind as a bat without his glasses, but he hates how they look so most of the time he just wears contacts.
  • Break Them by Talking: The Shadows throw their hosts' darker side in their faces, in an attempt to get them to deny the Shadow.
  • Call-Back: Shujin is the only school willing to take in Rin for her reputation, much like with Ren.
    • Sora's agency is the same as Rise's.
  • Color-Coded Characters: All of the main crew. Rin's blue, Sora is red, Iruka is green, Akemi is black, Rui is purple, Toshi is teal, Ryo is gold, Hotaru is pink, and Michiko is white.
  • Contrasting Sequel Main Character: Compare Rin to the previous female Wild Card, her aunt Minako. Minako is bubbly and cheerful, with a mischievous streak. Rin is a Type A tsundere and a full out rebel.
  • Custom Uniform: Most of the team add their own flair to the school uniform. Only Rui adheres to the school uniform completely.
  • Dead Guy Junior: Yukari named her only son after Minato.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Rin is pretty snarky, an inheritance from her father.
  • Doomed Hometown: Shit is happening in Tokyo again.
  • Dude Magnet: It's the Wild Card curse.
    • Sora also takes after Yu in this department, but worse since he's a celebrity.
    • Akio is also this, with a mix of All Girls Want Bad Boys and his exotic looks inherited from Anne.
  • Enemy Scan: Hotaru's Persona's specialty.
  • Everyone Can See It: Several of the ships, much to Rin's annoyance.
  • Family Business: Tatsumi Textiles.
    • The Shirogane detectives also fit.
  • Fire, Ice, Lightning: Rin, Sora, and Rui fall under this.
  • First Love: Both of the P4 kids' ships are this.
  • Generation Xerox: To an extent, regarding the Arcanas.
    • Rin is the Fool, like her father and aunt, Iruka is a Chariot like his mother Chie, and Ryo is a Magician like Junpei.
    • And pretty much everyone picks up a weapon that one of their parents used.
  • Girly Bruiser: Akemi and Michiko are more traditionally feminine, but they're most definitely Action Girls.
  • Guys Smash, Girls Shoot: Rui wields guns while Sora has swords.
    • However, Iruka also has knives, Michiko uses rapiers, Kane has axes, Ryou has two handed swords, and Hotaru uses clawed gloves.
  • Happily Married: All of the parents.
  • Henpecked Husband: Both Akemi and Rui have their significant others whipped.
    • But especially Iruka.
    • Don't forget Kanji and Naoto.
  • High-School Sweethearts: Pretty much all of the parents, though in Minato and Yukari's case, they get married in high school, just a month before Minato dies.
    • The main subversions are Ryuji/Futaba, who don't fall in love until after university, and Ken/Makoto, who meet sometime after they graduate from high school.
  • Mama Bear: Can we just say... all of the mothers?
  • My Sister Is Off-Limits: Quite a few male characters suffer from this.
    • Among the parents, Minato is very protective of both Minako and Naoto, as shown in the PQ arc. And well... Yu's title isn't exactly false.
    • Among the second gen, there's MJ, who's quite protective of his sisters. Doesn't help that Miyako's husband is three years her senior and well... Akio is a delinquent. Speaking of Akio, he is rather protective of his sister Suzu.
  • Named By The Adaption: For obvious reasons, the previous protagonists have been named. This story uses Minato Arisato, Minako Arisato, Yu Narukami, and Ren Amamiya.
  • Official Couple: Akio/Rin, Sora/Rui, Iruka/Akemi, and Ryo/Toshi.
  • Pink Means Feminine: Averted. Hotaru's signature color is pink, and she's a total tomboy.
  • Pretty Boy: Sora has been called a pretty boy multiple times by various characters.
  • Shared Family Quirks: Akemi inherited Yukiko's laughing fits.
  • Sibling Team: MJ and Miyako (Minato and Yukari's twin children). They work in tandem during the Arena arc.
  • Sibling Yin-Yang: Sora takes after his mother, while his older sister, Yuina, takes after their father, being rather refined and elegant.
    • Not to mention that Miyako takes after Minato, while her twin brother and younger sister are more... energetic.
  • Someone to Remember Him By: Minato and Yukari slept together some time in December, resulting in their twin children's conception. Rin also counts to a lesser degree, although she was born over a decade after Minato's death.
  • Stepford Smiler: Akemi is this, acting bubbly and cheerful, despite feeling suicidal.
  • Supernatural Gold Eyes: Like in Persona 4, the Shadow selves have this.
  • Taking the Bullet: Like in the games, the other team members will take a death blow for Rin once their Social Links have progressed enough.
  • Tarot Motifs: An obvious, with the Persona series.
    • Rin is the Fool, Akio is Emperor, Sora is the Magician, Iruka is the Chariot, Akemi is the Priestess, Rui is Empress, Toshi is Fortune, Michiko is the Priestess, Hotaru is Lovers, and Ryou is Justice.
