Pride of Time
is an AU Harry Potter fanfic by Anubis Ankh. It has a companion story, Divide of Time, by the same author, which is AU to the fic itself.
Hermione literally falls back in time to the Marauders' time. She tries to find a way back in between befriending James, Sirius and Remus and trying to stop Severus joining the Death Eaters. Then things get complicated.
Contains examples of:
- Drill Sergeant Nasty: Hermione gets one as a DADA teacher in her seventh year.
- Foregone Conclusion: Hermione starts the story thinking it's inevitable that James and Lily will die, Sirius will go to Azkaban and Severus will become a Death Eater and then a spy. They are inevitable, but her presence means things don't turn out quite the way she expects.
- For Want Of A Nail: The first significant change is when Hermione saves Snape in the Shrieking Shack rather than James.
- In the Past, Everyone Will Be Famous: Hermione finds herself going to school with both future famous people (James, Lily, Frank and Alice) and future infamous people (Barty Crouch Jr., Bellatrix Black).
- I Owe You My Life: Hermione saves Sanguini from Rowle, and he promises to find some way to repay her.
- Jerkass / Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Severus. He starts out the former but becomes the latter after befriending Hermione.
- No Periods, Period: Subverted. Hermione goes through her period in chapter 10.
- Morality Pet: Lily and Hermione for Severus.
- She Cleans Up Nicely: Hermione at the Valentine's Day Party.
- Time-Travel Tense Trouble: Hermione runs into it when she thinks of Severus as her "former and future Potions teacher".
- Training from Hell: Moody and Shacklebolt (to a lesser extent) put Hermione through it in the summer between fifth and sixth year.
- Wizarding School: Hogwarts. Unlike canon, and most fanfics, Hermione remaining fifth year and her sixth year are unremarkable, lacking the drama and plots that defined her education and mostly focused on her relationship with the Marauders and Snape.
- You Already Changed the Past: Hermione going back in time is part of the original timeline and she can't do anything to change events from how she remembers them.
