"Petals Fallen
" is a Sonicthe Hedgehog fanfic written by Winter W0nderland.
What if Eggman saw potential in Amy after Metal kidnapped her? What if she was raised by Eggman? What if she joined his Empire? What if Sonic never saved her?
Amy Rose is Dead, Petal Robotnik took her place.
This fanfic provides examples of:
- Adaptational Villainy: Due to Amy joining the Eggman Empire as a young child, she is far more ruthless than she canonically was, wanting Sonic dead by her hands, and at the end of Chapter 18, she brutally murders Big the Cat.
- This applies to Eggman as well though to a far lesser extent, in the games Eggman was no doubt an egotistical selfish bastard, but his evil deeds are doubled here by emotionally manipulating, brainwashing, torturing and performing various unethical experiments on Amy all while she's literally a child.
- Butterfly of Doom: Sonic arrived too late to save Amy from being kidnapped by Eggman and Metal in Sonic CD, thus while Eggman was mulling annoyance to his nemesis being late, he noticed Amy giving Metal Tarot readings and tried to take her cards from her. When she resisted, she exhibited her insane strength to the doctor, making him interested in molding her into a weapon.
- Downer Beginning: The first few chapters deal with Eggman slowly breaking Amy down until she would become an obedient servant, Petal. He also concocted a lie to Sonic so he would believe that she was murdered by his hands.
- Dies Differently in Adaptation: Gamma sacrifices himself to force the Chaos Emerald out of Froggy, who was currently inside Chaos.
- My Greatest Failure: After he learned of Amy's "death", Sonic held great remorse for how dismissive he was towards her, and resolved to never treat fans like that ever again.
- My God, What Have I Done?: When Sonic eventually learns of both Amy's survival and the experimentation she had gone through, he ran away to Amy's "grave" as he grieved that he had left Amy in the hands of Doctor Eggman for several years.
- Only Friend: Petal and Metal are this to each other due to being under Eggman's thumb for all their lives.
- Villain Takes an Interest: The whole plot was kicked off because Eggman was able to witness Amy's strength before she and Sonic could become friends with each other.
