Papaoutai
is a Miraculous Ladybug comedy fic by ms bricolage. It is followed by the sequel Elle me dit.
After years of fighting Hawkmoth's minions, Adrien and Marinette finally manage to track him down. What they find is not the cackling supervillain they expected. Hawkmoth is a pathetic, lonely middle-aged man whose crimes come less from malice than his inability to cope with being a single dad. He's not, Ladybug realizes, someone the superheroes need to fight.
They invite him for coffee instead.
So begins a friendship that will change the fate of Paris.
This fic includes the following tropes:
- Token Evil Teammate: The plot centers around Hawkmoth becoming this trope. He still feels the urge to brainwash business rivals sometimes, but Ladybug and Chat Noir's friendship makes him a much happier, stabler person and loving grandfather.
- Vitriolic Best Buds: Over the Time Skip, Chloe and Marinette became this. The latter mentions that she could be "persuaded" to help with a baby shower "if [Marinette] doesn't balloon too awfully". The former refers to Chloe as "Satan's lover".
- Worthy Opponent: One reason that Gabriel approves of his son marrying Marinette.
