Having recently woken up from his century-long slumber, Link heads to eastern Lanayru to help the zora with their Divine Beast Vah Ruta troubles. When he reaches Zora's Domain, Link catches the eyes of two young zora women named Neolani and Mira. Later the two approach Link and reveal that they know Link very well—he's their father.

- Murdoch has amazing fighting prowess and has never lost a duel.
- Murdoch inherited his skills from Link. Link is the only person who can beat him.
- Alliterative Family: Played straight with Mipha, Mira, and Murdoch, but averted with Link and Neolani (however it is played straight with her nickname "Lani").
- Alternate Universe Fic: The fic takes place in an universe where Link and Mipha were married prior to the Calamity.
- Always Identical Twins: Averted. Neolani and Mira have the same skin tone but their heights are different, their tailfins are different lengths, and their eyes are different colours.
- Big Eater: Neolani eats twice as much as Mira. Mira mentions that even after eating two fish she's usually still hungry. Neolani'll even eat fish off the ground.
- Big Little Brother: Murdoch is the third triplet and he is also the tallest by a good sum, dwarfing both his older sisters and father.
- Bittersweet Ending: Mipha's spirit moves on, but soon Link is going to return to Zora's Domain after defeating Calamity Ganon.

- Since he was a child Murdoch has always has a drive to fight and hunt.
- Murdoch inherited his fighting spirit from his father Link.
- Chick Magnet: Murdoch has a lot of fangirls.
- Childhood Friend Romance: Link and Mipha were this, though due to how Zora age Mipha was more like Link's mother growing up.
- Delayed Reaction: Due to her blindness, sometimes Lani reacts to things later than others.
- Extreme Omnivore: It's mentioned that Link once ate a meal of Moblin guts because he ran out of wolf meat and apples.
- For Want Of A Nail: What If? Mipha had proposed earlier and Link had accepted?
- Gender Equals Breed: Discussed; according to Link's daughters, Zora and Rito can both interbreed with Hylians, but the race of the mother determines the race of the offspring, in part because Zora and Rito lay eggs whereas Hylians give live birth.
- Half-Human Hybrid: Neolani, Mira, and Murdoch are half-Hylian and half-Zora. They are physically Zora through and through, though their short heights might be due to their mixed blood.
- Heroic Suicide: Subverted. Murdoch seems to think his revenge-driven Suicide Mission is a righteous one, but his family recognizes that he isn't in his right mind.
- In-Series Nickname: Neolani is oftentimes referred to as "Lani".
- Maternity Crisis: Mipha gets the urge to lay her eggs while she was headed to Hyrule Castle with Link. As a result, their children were hatched far from the Domain.
- Mayfly–December Romance: Link has a normal human lifespan but his wife and kids are very long-lived. Mipha died prematurely, but at least Link's children are still around despite his century-long stasis.
- My Secret Pregnancy: Link and Mipha hid their children away from the other Champions. The others didn't learn about the triplets until they went down to the Domain themselves, just before the Calamity happened.
- Parental Abandonment: Link was put in a coma for a century and Mipha died. As a result, their children were left in the care of Muzu.
- Parental Title Characterization: Mira and Neolani call Link an affectionate "Dad". Their brother Murdoch, who is resentful of Link's absence, calls him "Father". He uses it as formality more than anything. Even as a child, he used the more grown-up "Dad" (in contrast to his sister's "Daddy").
- Patchwork Kids: Neolani is a downplayed example. She looks a lot like her mother, except she has pinkish skin and her father's blue eyes. Neolani also inherited Mipha's healing abilities.
- Pronouncing My Name for You: Link's daughter Mira clarifies how her name is pronounced to her amnesiac father. It is pronounced either as "Mee-rah" or "My-rah", and she's okay with either.
- Reflectionless Useless Eyes: Neolani was hatched blind. She has clouded blue eyes.
- Self-Made Orphan: Murdoch comes dangerously close to killing Link in his rage.
- Screaming Birth: Averted and discussed. Link mentions that Mipha should be reacting this way, but her laying the eggs is a rather peaceful and quiet affair.
- Sleep Cute: Mira holds Neolani's tailfin when she sleeps. Link even mentions that it's cute.
- Strong Family Resemblance:
- Neolani looks a lot like her mother Mipha.
- Murdoch takes after his uncle Sidon.
- Supernaturally Young Parent: Thanks to Link being in stasis for a century, he's physically around the same age as his daughters.
- Teen Pregnancy: Link mentions that he's in his late teens. Mipha was presumably around the same age.
- Time Dissonance: Zora age much slower than Hylians. They talk about years and decades like humans would talk about months.
- You Killed My Father: Murdoch is dead set on avenging Mipha, even if it costs him his life.
