Bakugo: Dear Deku,
My therapist told me I should write letters to you. It's part of some healing bullshit, but... well, I dunno. Maybe you're bored, wherever you ended up.
...Fuck, this is so cheesy.

In most worlds, Izuku Midoriya became one of the greatest heroes the world has ever seen. In this one, the constant bullying from Bakugo and All Might claiming he couldn't become a hero led Izuku to take his life. The event traumatizes Bakugo, rendering him mute. At the advice of his therapist, he begins writing letters to Izuku detailing what he's doing.

#14 is a My Hero Academia fanfic by MissEvilOverlord.

#14 contains examples of the following tropes:

  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: Bakugou suffers a serious one, being left traumatized after Izuku's suicide.
  • Adaptational Villainy:
    • The manga's Mitsuki Bakugou is a strict parent who uses discipline to keep her son in line. The fic's Mitsuki is an outright abusive parent who does not feed Katsuki, ignores him, and kicks him out of the house after the Sports Festival, leaving him homeless.
    • Hiashi Midoriya is an average businessman working overseas in canon. #14's Hiashi is All For One.
  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul: In canon, Bakugou respects All Might and sees him as the greatest Hero in the world. In the fic, Bakugou despises All Might enough to want to kill him when they first meet and avoids him as much as possible. This is due to Bakugou seeing All Might's rejection of Izuku's dream as part of the reason the latter committed suicide.
  • Death by Adaptation:
    • Izuku dies of suicide before the fic begins.
    • Tensei Iida is killed by Hero Killer Stain whereas he survived his attack in the manga.
  • Disabled in the Adaptation: Bakugou is left mute following Izuku's suicide, and ends up learning JSL to compensate.
  • Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Bakugou notes that All For One truly seems to care about Inko.
  • Fond Memories That Could Have Been: Bakugou mentions a dream where Izuku never jumped, went to U.A., and the two of them became rivals.
  • Goodbye, Cruel World!: Izuku is implied to have written a suicide note where he tells his mother he thinks his death will make things better for her and asks her not to blame Bakugou.
  • Happily Adopted: Shinso, Bakugou, and Todoroki are all adopted by Aizawa and Yamada.
  • Internal Reveal: Iida, Todoroki, Uraraka, and Kirishima learn about Katsuki's role in Izuku's suicide when he goes berserk and starts screaming at Stain.
  • Last Request: Izuku's was for Inko not to press charges against Bakugou.
  • Official Couple:
    • Aizawa and Yamada are married in this fic, with Shinso as their adopted son.
    • Bakugo and Kirishima eventually get together and marry one another near the fic's ending. Ochaco is also heavily implied to have married to Iida, having taken his last name.
  • Outliving One's Offspring: Izuku’s mother is still alive after her son’s suicide.
  • Plot-Triggering Death: Izuku's suicide is what kicks off the plot.
  • Self-Harm: Bakugo starts cutting his wrists out of fear that Hisashi will make him forget Izuku. Hagakure recognizes the aftermath and offers to talk to him whenever he needs help.
  • Spotting the Thread: Bakugo eventually remembers that Hisashi's Quirk is supposed to be fire breathing, not brainwashing.
  • Stepford Smiler: What Inko and Bakugou become under All For One's influence.
  • There Are No Therapists: Averted - Bakugou ends up seeing a therapist after Izuku takes his life.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Aizawa and Nezu berate All Might for telling a Quirkless kid he could not be a Hero with the implication that they see him as ableist.
