Midnight Savior
by Nutzkie is a Kim Possible fanfic where Kim has been taken by the Lorwardians to their homeworld, where she's living her worst nightmare.
This fanfic provides examples of:
- All Just a Dream: Fortunately this was it turns out to be. But doesn't make it any less traumatizing.
- Ambiguous Situation: As she's being led to the gallows, Kim wonders what happened to Ron, if he died trying to save Kim. Or if Earth has been completely destroyed or enslaved by the Lorwardians.
- Call-Back: Kim calls Ron after having the nightmare, similar to the beginning of Season 4 when Ron did the same calling Kim after his nightmare.
- Catapult Nightmare: Kim wakes up when the blade falls towards her neck.
- Come to Gawk: The Lorwardians have come from across the empire for the pleasure of witnessing her execution, satisfying their bloodlust.
- Dark Fic: In a way, since Kim's nightmare of what could have been was very traumatic for her.
- Death World: Lowardia is a desert planet with twin suns, and has brutish creatures, which explains how the Lorwardians evolved into a war-like species.
- Defiant to the End: Subverted. After being strapped to the guillotine, Kim struggles to free herself from her restraints. Still too weak, all she could do is just lie there crying.
- Face Death with Dignity: Knowing she's done for, Kim just lies there, silently praying for a quick and painless death as she waits for the blade to drop, and whispers Ron's name.
- Go Out with a Smile: Subverted. Realizing she's moments from death, Kim can only think of being reunited with Ron for eternity, which briefly made her smile until the reality of her situation sets back in.
- Humiliation Conga: Kim gets dragged to the gallows in her tattered graduation gown that barely covered her nude body, through a taunting crowd cursing at her in their language, while in chains.
- In the Dreaming Stage of Grief: As she's being dragged to the gallows, Kim keeps telling herself over and over that the horror she's experiencing is all one elaborate nightmare that she'll wake up from at any moment. Only to realize it's really happening, to her great despair. Though she turns out to be right, but was so convincingly real.
- Kick the Dog: Seeing her soon-to-be trophy in turmoil, Warmonga gives Kim a malicious smile and whispers coarsely into Kim's ear, "You may be fond of the belief that you are 'all that', but I can assure you most certainly that you are not."
- The blood-thirsty Lorwardians shout for Kim's death.
- The blade of the guillotine was symmetrical and curved, likely intended to smash the victim's neck painfully and messy. The Lowardians had Kim lie on her back as they strap her in, so she would see the blade coming down.
- Loud Gulp: Kim swallowed hard when she saw the smug faces of Warhok and Warmonga standing besides the guillotine. Later, she swallows hard again as she waits for the blade to drop.
- Make an Example of Them: The executions are a statement to anyone who dares challenge the superior rule of the Lorwardian Empire.
- Off with Her Head!: Kim was strapped to a guillotine and the blade falls towards her neck. Fortunately, it was a dream.
- Public Execution: Kim is sentenced to death by beheading via guillotine in a huge public square.
- Say My Name: Right before the blade drops, Kim whispers Ron's name.
- Skyward Scream: Kim screams as the blade was released, falling towards her neck.
- This Cannot Be!: Kim's reaction as she's being led to her death.
- Would Hit a Girl: Before she was beheaded, the Lowardians have beaten and tortured her for weeks.
- Would Hurt a Child: Kim is about 18 since she was graduating, nearly into adulthood. But still too young to endure this horrible fate. The Lorwardians are fully aware this and want to see her lose her head.
