Mary Phillips Story

The story starts with Eric giving The Misfits drugs. Pizzazz takes to it easily and Stormer only needs a little nudging to use some too, but Roxy avoids the stuff. Soon, Stormer is using drugs frequently as a crutch. This soon spirals into an addiction to cocaine. She is sent to rehab and recovers. Wen she comes out of rehab, it turns out that not all is right.
It's a rare Jem story in that it presents a darker side to Stormer than most others. She's not villainous, but she's not as squeaky-clean as other fics depict her. It's also rare in that Jem and Jerrica are individual characters.
This fanfic provides examples of:
- Adaptation Dye-Job:
- In the cartoon, it's implied that everyone has technicolor hair. This doesn't apply to this fic, where most of the characters have dyed hair. For example, Stormer naturally has black hair and Pizzazz naturally has blonde hair.
- Riot is described as grey eyed, not green like in canon.
- Adaptation Name Change: Kimber's name is short for "Kimberly". In canon, it's just "Kimber".
- Alternate Universe Fic: Jem is not an alter identity for Jerrica. She's her twin sister.
- Dark Fic: The story uses the 1980s setting to feature mature themes like drug addiction.
- Dead Fic: The writer quit the fanfic fifteen chapters in after growing dissatisfied with it.
- Decomposite Character: Jerrica and Jem are presented as two separate characters. They're twins.
- Functional Addict: Pizzazz and Jetta frequently use drugs but they're more in-control over their usage than Stormer.
- Named by the Adaptation: Downplayed in that Kimber is given a middle name: "Ann".
- Parental Neglect: Roxy's drug-addicted mother neglected her growing up. As a result, Roxy resents her mother and hates drugs.
- Promotion to Parent: Roxy has full custody of her 5 year old half-brother due to her mother being too neglectful to keep him. Since taking custody of him, she's become more responsible.
- Sex, Drugs, and Rock & Roll: Pizzazz, Stormer, and Jetta are musicians who all use drugs given to them by Eric. Roxy is the exception as she detests drugs.
