Magical Troubleshooting Crossover Fighting Federation Ultra, or MTCFFUltra, or simply "Ultra" for short, was a Crossover Fanfic written in Round Robin style and administrated by Stefan "Twoflower" Gagne.
Ultra began with Twoflower's earlier fanfic, Magical Troubleshooting Crossover Fighting Tournament Beta, a Tournament Arc fanfic where the winner of each bracket would be determined by fan vote. The final winner of the tournament, one Kasumi Tendo, was awarded the post of God. Wait, WHAT?
Yes, the Almighty decided to retire and contrary to all seeming sense and reason, decided to choose His successor via a fighting tournament. Upon Her victory, Kasumi decided to start a fighting league, ostensibly as entertainment, but there are hints of a higher purpose...
In Universe, the federation had 3 divisions:The Gamma Division, which had basic one-on-one matches, with a few gimmick matches for flavor. The winner had to win by knockout in the ring.
The Lambda Division, which was the Tag Team division and held to the same basic rules as Gamma.
And the Omega division, Ultra's division, where fights were held in various alternate dimensions and destroying the world or universe you're fighting in is a technical foul.
Ultra took characters from all over anime and various fighting games and the various writers used and abused pretty much the entire Professional Wrestling trope list, with backstage plots ranging from mere personal power grabs and Mind Control to Third Impact and wresting Godhood from Kasumi Tendo Herself.
The main rule to prevent Fan Boy conflict was basically, "Under the right circumstances, anyone can beat anyone else in a fight." The writers were encouraged to make the fights as entertaining as possible, so Rule of Cool and Rule of Funny were constantly followed.
The story went through 9 "seasons" with 10 chapters each, with each season ending with a grand "Pay per View" called Ultrarage to wrap up or begin important storylines. In season 5, a midseason pay-per-view called Ultra Reboot was added.
The 9th season was to be the final chapter with a final tournament with the story's major heroes and villains battling for the fate of all existence, but stopped short two chapters before ending. As the last chapter was written back in 2002, it's safe to say they won't be finished anytime soon.

Magical Troubleshooting Crossover Fighting Federation Ultra contains examples of:
- Ascended Extra: Hiroshi and Daisuke go from being Those Two Guys to the announce team.
- B Show / Spinoff: The amazing in-universe popularity of Ultra inspired a second show, Neofighters with all Original Characters. After the fic (and in-universe,the show) was abandoned, two of the most popular characters transitioned to Ultra.
- Bad Boss: When Controversial Jack takes over Ultra in season 3, his extravagances and utterly chaotic style of management drives the show into bankruptcy by the end of season 4.
- Nabiki Tendo buys the show in season 5 and becomes a Vince McMahon style tyrant.
- Big Bad: Several, across the course of the story different arcs:
- Season 2 has Original Character Controversial Jack working to wrest the power of the Godhead from Kasumi.
- Season 3 has the Orochi scheming to bring about The End of the World as We Know It.
- Season 4 and 5's big bad appears to be Cloud as Satan, but its obviously Xelloss pulling the strings, picking up where the Orochi left off.
- Seasons 6 & 7 have M. Bison terrorizing Ultra, seeking to add it to his criminal empire.
- Averted for season 8, but season 9 has Xelloss return for the Grand Finale.
- Brainwashed and Crazy: This happens to a number of competitors:
- Ifurita and Athena are brainwashed by M. Bison, as is Rei.
- Sakura becomes the puppet of the Orochi.
- Asuka gets a demonic makeover, courtesy of Cloud and Xelloss.

Breakup Breakout: Subverted when Pikachu's overwhelming popularity spurs him to leave Ash to start a career in showbiz, only for his star to quickly fade. - Butt-Monkey: Dan Hibiki. Even when he takes several levels in badass, Dan seems to be very much this.
- Combat Commentator: Hiroshi and Daisuke are considered the "official" commentator team of Ultra, to the point that when a Cosmic Entity holds a final tournament to decide the fate of the universe, Hiroshi and Daisuke persuade it to allow them to sit ringside and provide commentary, even though the entire world will be present to watch.
- When one of them were unavailable, fired, or dead (they would get better), Sana or Pantyhose Tarou would often guest announce.
- Cover Innocent Eyesand Ears: At one point, succubus Morrigan strips herself naked in an attempt to distract Wolverine during a match. Combat Commentator Hiroshi covers guest commentator Sana's eyes, which she protests, since she has the same basic anatomy as Morrigan.
- The Chessmaster: Of all people, Kasumi. Events that she instigates in the first two seasons of the show continue to play out long after she steps down from the post of God.
- Distracted by the Sexy: The usual tactics of Morrigan and Lilith. Being succubi, this comes naturally to them.
- Used brilliantly in a match between Shampoo and Mousse and Team Hentai (Happosai and Ataru). Shampoo entered the ring in a poncho, then took it off to reveal an outfit that left almost nothing to the imagination. Team Hentai then began chasing her around the ring, fighting each other to get to her and completely oblivious to the fact that they were being counted out.
- Face–Heel Turn: Several examples, but the most prominent are:
- Ranma, after losing the title and seeing it won by Dan Hibiki, who lost the belt and then got a title match before Ranma did. He underwent a fair amount of Sanity Slippage before reverting back.
- Ash Ketchum after a lengthy losing streak and Team Rocket's HeelFace Turn, Ash became convinced that his opponents were cheating and joined the Team Rocket organization, who gave him a Badass Biker outfit complete with chains and steel Pokemon. Ash's heel turn was the most lengthy in the story, lasting several seasons before having a massive Heel Realization.
- Cloud Strife has a major one when Kasumi resurrects Aeris as an angel and she tells him she can no longer be with him as a result. Instead of getting her intended message to move on and pursue a relationship with Tifa, he spirals headlong into a deep depression, leaving him open to Xelloss remaking him into Satan.
- False Friend: Xelloss acts as Kasumi's ally for the 2nd and 3rd season, then literally stabs her In the Back at Ultrarage Gamma to give the Orochi the power of God.
- I Surrender, Suckers: Tiring of what he saw as inferior competitors, Sephiroth would often "job" to his opponents, then proceed to mutilate them after the match.
- Love Triangle: In the later seasons, Hiroshi is torn between Lilith Aensland and Rei Anayami. He ultimately chooses Rei.
- May Contain Evil: One of Xelloss' side businesses is a toy company called Himitsu Toys and Games which has slogans like "Our motto: The reason why your child bursts into flame within five minutes of playing with our toys is a secret."
- No Indoor Voice: HAOHMARU SPEAKS IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS AT ALL TIMES.
- Hiroshi can be like this too, when hopped up on caffeine and sugar.
