Go To

Liquid's Resident Evil is a series of Resident Evil Fan Fics that novelize different parts of the games, adding different twists and turns.

The series consists of the following:

    List of fics
  • Resident Evil 0: Operation Arklay: In the spring of 1998, the Arklay Mountains outside of Raccoon City were plagued by a string of killings known as The Cannibal Murders. This is the story of the first investigation into these horrific crimes, and of the ill-fated Task Force Arklay who tried to stop it.
  • Resident Evil 1: Deadly Silence: After a mission to save Raccoon City from the Cannibal Murders goes bad, the surviving members of STARS are forced to take refuge inside a seemingly abandoned mansion. There they will discover the true meaning of terror, as they are hunted by monsters from beyond imagination... but are the worst enemies among them?
  • Resident Evil 2: Downfall: When Leon Kennedy, a rookie cop, and Claire Redfield, a college student searching for her brother arrive in Raccoon City, what they find is a nightmare beyond belief. Now, trapped inside the police station, and hunted by blood-thirsty monsters, they must try to stay alive long enough to find a way out.
  • Resident Evil 3: Exodus: In this sequel to Operation Arklay, Detective Tobias Liquid wakes up from his coma to find Raccoon City in the middle of the T-Virus Outbreak. Now with the help of young college student Elza Walker and a few other survivors, they must find a way to escape the doomed city before it's too late.
  • Resident Evil 4: Nemesis: Raccoon City has fallen, and now former STARS member Jill Valentine has one last chance to escape with her life. Joining with a group of Umbrella Mercenaries, she must traverse the infected city, all while fleeing from a terrifying and intelligent monster that cannot be killed... and that is hunting her specifically.
  • Resident Evil 5: Code Veronica: Three months after surviving Raccoon City, Claire Redfield is captured by Umbrella, and imprisoned on Rockfort Island, a place ruled by the sadistic Alfred Ashford. Provided an opportunity to escape when unknown forces attack, Claire and her fellow prisoners must flee for their lives while a familiar outbreak scenario unfolds... but there are worse things out there than zombies.
  • Resident Evil 6: Gaiden: In the year 2001, Umbrella is on its last legs, and risks transporting BOW research materials by hiding them onboard the cruise ship Starlight. US Agent Leon Kennedy is sent in to investigate these rumors, but he is not prepared for the nightmare that awaits... and he isn't the only one investigating the ship.
  • Resident Evil 7: Las Plagas: When the President's daughter is kidnapped by a dangerous religious cult, US Agent Leon Kennedy is sent to a remote village in Spain to rescue her. However, an ancient evil has been awakened in this place, and Leon will quickly learn that none of his past trials have prepared him for the nightmares that he must now face alone.
  • Resident Evil 8: Revelations: In 2007, a year after the city of Terragrigia was destroyed by the bio-terror organization known as Veltro, that same group of terrorists seems to have come back from the dead with a vengeance. To stop them, Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine must infiltrate a long abandoned cruise liner in order to discover the secrets of Veltro and their new virus... but nothing is what it seems.
  • Resident Evil 9: Uroboros: A decade after the events that destroyed Raccoon City, BSAA Agent Chris Redfield is sent to Africa to investigate reports of a new, more dangerous outbreak. Now with his assigned partner, Sheva Alomar, Chris must fight to discover who is really behind this threat... and to discover the dark secrets of a weapon known only as Uroboros.
  • Resident Evil 10: Phobos: After being attacked by unknown forces during a party at Terra Save headquarters, Claire Redfield wakes up on a strange island where a new nightmare awaits. Now along with Moira Burton, she must survive long enough to find a way out... but there is no escape from the plans of the unseen Overseer.
  • Resident Evil 11: Pandemic: When the American city of Tall Oaks is attacked, Leon Kennedy fights for his life during the outbreak that follows, but this is just the beginning. In China, Chris Redfield attempts to rescue hostages from the UN, leading him to face a demon from his past, and in Edonia, Sherry Birkin attempts to track down the one person that can save the world from the horrors of the new C-Virus.
  • Resident Evil 12: Biohazard: While searching for his missing wife, Ethan Winters is taken captive by the reclusive Baker Family, a group of sadistic killers who have been rendered seemingly immortal. Now Ethan must find a way to save both his wife and himself from ending up like their previous victims, while also unearthing the family's dark secrets.
  • Resident Evil 13: Village: Three years after surviving a nightmare, Ethan Winters is thrust right into another one when Chris Redfield kills his wife and then kidnaps newborn daughter Rose. Following the trail only leads to more questions as Ethan enters a hidden village full of monsters, but who is the mysterious Mother Miranda, and what does she want with his daughter?

This series contains examples of the following tropes:

  • Adaptational Backstory Change: Unlike in the games, Downfall states that Claire was born and raised in Raccoon City. Robert Kendo and Chief Irons both recognize her on sight and vice versa.
  • Adaptation Relationship Overhaul:
    • In canon, Ethan and Zoe were merely friends, working together to survive the Dulvey Incident. Here, they end up a couple by the end of Biohazard. By the time that Village begins, the two are married, with Zoe having given birth to Rosemary (Mia's daughter in canon).
    • In canon, Ingrid and Daniella have no known relationship. Here, they're lovers.
  • Ascended Extra: In the source material Alexia Ashford was ultimately just another Monster of the Week in the long run. In this series, not only is she Spared by the Adaptation, but she also becomes a major recurring character.
  • Bound and Gagged: Claire ends up in this situation twice during the events of Downfall, first by Chief Irons, and then by HUNK and his men.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Chris saves Ethan from being absorbed by Moreau.
  • Canon Character All Along: Combined with Composite Character. Tobias Liquid plays the role of The Merchant in Los Plagas.
  • Composite Character:
  • Dead Person Impersonation:
    • Mother Miranda takes Tundra's form shortly after she is killed and pretends to be the real Tundra while helping Ethan at the reservoir and Heisenberg's factory.
      • It is later revealed that she pretended to be Bela after the real Bela was killed trying to save Ethan.
  • Death by Adaptation:
    • Mia doesn't survive the events of Biohazard, unlike in canon.
    • All members of the Hound-Wolf Squad are implied to have survived the events of Village in canon. Not every member makes it out alive here, however, with Umber Eyes being killed by Tobias, Tundra dying at the reservoir and Canine being implied to have also been killed by Tobias.
  • Defeat by Modesty: Not quite defeat, but Lady Alcina is forced to delay her pursuit of Ethan, due to wearing only a towel at the time.
  • Dies Differently in Adaptation:
    • Daniella is killed by Umber Eyes/Tobias instead of Ethan.
    • Instead of being killed by Ethan's guns, Salvatore Moreau is killed after eating Tobias and being poisoned by his blood.
  • The Dividual: Being a puppet and a puppeteer, Donna and Angie are effectively one character. Donna uses Angie as her proxy, due to being surprisingly shy.
  • Driven to Suicide: Alcina acknowledges that, if Miranda didn't help her when she did, she'd have killed herself after Anton's death.
  • Evil Puppeteer: For a given value of "evil". Instead of relying on brute strength and/or sheer size like the other three Lords, Donna Beneviento controls an army of puppets to do her bidding in conjunction with her psychological manipulations.
  • Expy Coexistence: Elza Walker was created for Resident Evil 1.5., the prototype of Resident Evil 2, and redesigned into Claire. In this series, Elza is a full-fledged character, with her and Claire even meeting and working together during the events of Code Veronica.
  • Flirtatious Smack on the Ass: Heisenberg slaps Donna on the ass and makes her miss her pool shot.
  • For Want Of A Nail:
    • Instead of a gas station, Leon's first encounter with zombies happens at the bottom of a hill, encountering a recently zombified woman.
    • Instead of said gas station, Leon and Claire's first meeting is at a café.
    • Leon and Claire's visit to the gas station is taken by Reggie Davis.
    • Instead of Bela, Cassandra is the first killed by Ethan.
    • Daniella is killed by Umber Eyes instead of Ethan.
  • Get a Hold of Yourself, Man!: In Downfall, Claire finds herself dealing with a hysterical, panicking Sherry after saving her from a Licker. Fearing she may draw attention from the monsters and unable to think of any other way to get her to be quiet, Claire is forced to slap her in the face; it works.
  • Humans Are the Real Monsters: Irons is just as, if not more, monstrous than the mutated Birkin. Unlike Birkin, he's not a virus created monster, he's just a sociopathic rapist and murderer. If anything, Irons is the one ultimately responsible for the fall of Raccoon City, as he slandered the STARS survivors so no one took their claims seriously and sabotaged the police's efforts to save the town. Were it not for him, the RPD could have had a fighting chance to contain the outbreak.
  • Kill and Replace: Tobias kills the real Umber Eyes in the bathroom, and takes his suit in order to spy on Chris for the BSAA. It is heavily implied that he later does the same to Canine.
  • Lonely Doll Girl: Donna's very reclusive and has several dolls scattered both inside and outside her house.
  • Momma's Boy: Like canon, Moreau is obsessed with killing Ethan for Mother Miranda.
  • Original Character:
    • Series-wide: Tobias Liquid, Gillette Liquid, Reynaldo.
    • Operation Arklay: Francis McGee, Adrian Lopez, Avan Chambers, Kendra Ashwood, Murphy Proske, Janet Carver, Lillian Liquid, Isaac Liquid, Katrina Winters-Yvonne, Sheriff Thompson, Jesse Gumb, Charles Lynch, Johnny Dennis, Doc Perkins, Harland.
    • Exodus: Linda Lo, Steven Hartwell.
    • Downfall: Reggie Davis.
    • Gaiden: Amanda Pricely.
    • Biohazard: Travis.
    • Village: Anton.
  • Parents Walk In at the Worst Time: Alcina walks in on Bela's attempt to seduce Ethan, right as they're about to have sex.
  • Projectile Kiss: Bela blows a kiss towards Ethan, after torturing him.
  • Properly Paranoid: Claire was concerned when Chris stopped calling her for a month. She was right to worry.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Angie is very loud, has a tendency to cackle and screech, and does most of the talking for Donna, who is a Shrinking Violet.
  • Royal Inbreeding: Like Real Life royalty, the Four Lords use the fact they aren't blood related to enter relationships with each other. Such as Donna dating Heisenberg and Moreau crushing on his niece Cassandra.
  • Shrinking Violet: A rare villainous version. Notes left behind by Donna's gardener explains that, after the death of her parents, combined with her insecurity about the facial scar she has, she chose to completely withdrew herself from the world until she met Mother Miranda. Heisenburg notes that just getting her to play pool is a huge chore.
  • Slept Through the Apocalypse: Tobias Liquid is critically injured and winds up in a coma by the end of Operation Arklay. He wakes up six months later in Exodus, right when Raccoon City is in the midst of the T-virus outbreak.
  • To Serve Man: Of the Dimitrescu sisters, Bela is the most interested in consuming Ethan.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: Alexia Ashford fakes their death, instead of dying at Chris's hands like in the source material, and plays a large role in succeeding stories in the series.
  • "Take That!" Kiss: When her daughters first bring Ethan to her, Alcina has them restrain him and slash open his left hand palm. She grabs hold of it and kisses the wound, taking a moment to suck up the blood and taste it. She dismissively says it is starting to go stale.
  • Villains Out Shopping:
    • Ethan witnesses Donna and Heisenburg flirting and playing pool.
    • Ethan encounters Dimitrescu's daughters while they're having a fight over expensive alcohol. They're shown to like watching old movies like The Thing and Dawn of the Dead.
  • Villains Want Mercy: Daniella begs Umber Eyes to spare her when he has her at his mercy. He refuses, stating it's justice for killing Ingrid.
