Leaving Town is a Girls und Panzer fic by dontaskimdisappointed.

Not long after Oarai's victory in the tankery tournament, Riko "Erwin" Matsumoto ends up having to move to Canada, as a result of her mother remarrying after Riko's father's death. While at her new school, Riko starts doing tankery again, in a newly coed tankery program.

The fic can be found here. Since it has not been updated since May 2014, the author has most likely stopped working on it.

The fic contains examples of:

  • Aborted Arc: The fic seems to set up Erwin's resentment toward her mother for remarrying as an important plotline in Chapter 1, Erwin mostly forgives her mother after a heart-to-heart talk in Chapter 2.
  • Adaptation Personality Change: Erwin's somewhat moodier and has a tense relationship with her parents that wasn't even hinted at in canon.
  • Alcoholic Parent: Mitchell's mother struggled with a drinking problem in the past.
  • Battle Discretion Shot: The first round of the tournament cuts off shortly before the end, leaving the narration to recount how Port Ryan had won.
  • Book Dumb: Despite being an expert on World War II and other historical battles, Erwin doesn't do all that well in school.
  • Dead Fic: The fic has not been updated since May 21, 2014. The author has written a few other fanfics since then, and has most likely moved on from this fic.
  • Education Mama: Erwin's father is a male example, apparently only caring about his daughter's grades.
  • Hair-Trigger Temper: Mitchell has recurring anger issues.
  • It's All About Me: Mitchell ends up coming off as self-centered when he meets with Mr. Thompson, not fully aware of how his actions might pose problems for integrating boys into tankery. He also initially seems more worried about whether he will continue to be able to play lacrosse than about the two boys he injured.
  • Parent with New Paramour: Riko's mother marries a man named Frank not long after her husband's death.
  • Ungrateful Bastard: Mitchell is in such a bad mood after the lacrosse game that he doesn't even thank the police officer who gives him a ride home. The officer calls him out on it.
"Hey, kid. I know you're upset but I'm serious when I say you should be bloody grateful that you got off as lightly as you did. You could have killed that boy out there. And when someone gives you a drive, you say thank you."
