Killer King is an online story written by UPMan, inspired by the Stephen King story collection Night Shift. It can be read here.

The story centers on Bobby Willis, a disturbed teenager who decides to become a serial killer, choosing to target 20 people who wronged him in some way. As inspiration for his murders, he turns to Night Shift, his favorite Stephen King book, and plans murders based on each story. Additionally, the readers were allowed to suggest victims for Bobby to kill; names, motives, and murder locations.

Currently has an ongoing sequel that can be here.

This story provides examples of

  • Audience Participation: The victims are all suggested by the readers in between chapters.
  • Author Avatar: Melissa Hendricks, Bobby's fourth victim, is based on a YouTuber named Melissa H. The Sylbreon. Justified as the person who requested her to be added as a victim hated her for disrespecting Espeons.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: Bobby's victims all suffer pretty gruesome demises.
  • Domestic Abuse: The Willis family lives in fear of Charles, who is a living nightmare for his family, and Bobby's too. Nobody will be mourning his death anytime soon, and his murder at the hands of his nephew is definitely deserved.
  • Every Car Is a Pinto: The truck Melissa is in explodes while she's in it.
  • Rape and Revenge: One of Bobby's victims is a serial rapist who assaulted his sister Lucy, which got him run over by Bobby's stolen truck as revenge.
  • Serial Killer: Bobby is this. Ash Clarke, one of Bobby's victims, is also one.
  • Shout-Out: Several Stephen King references are scattered throughout the book, aside from Night Shift being used as the basis for the murders.
    • One of the victims is named Carrie White, just like in Stephen King's first published novel, Carrie. The big difference between the two is that Stephen King's Carrie was made to be sympathetic, but this one isn't.
    • Another victim is named Billie Summers, which sounds identical to that of Billy Summers. Ironically, she was the only victim to disrespect Bobby's love for Stephen King.
    • Bobby's school is called Castle Rock high, sharing the name with the fictional town in Maine where many of King's stories take place.
