Into Unknown Waters is a crossover fic between Code Geass and Subnautica, written by MoonlightWright on FanFiction.Net.

When Ryley Robinson dies before hitting the waters of Planet 4546B, it accidentally triggers a Thought Elevator's activation right as Zero is touching it, unleashing volatile energy and briefly opening a hole through space-time...

When the rift closes, three teenagers are stranded in the ocean without any idea of how it happened, and no idea about how to come home — especially without murdering each other.

This work contains examples of:

  • Adaptational Early Appearance: The Sea Dragon Leviathans can only be encountered very late in the game, as they are only found in the deepest parts of the map, which require a fully upgraded Cyclops or PRAWN suit to traverse rapidly. Here, one shows up in Chapter 12, only a little while after the Aurora explodes.
  • Air-Vent Passageway: Suzaku and Lelouch use these as they explore a wreck. Lelouch doesn't enjoy the experience very much since it's too cramped for his cybernetic implants.
  • Animals Hate Him: Apparently, fishes are the only exception to the rule for Suzaku — every single living creature beyond them cannot stand the Japanese teen, with Lelouch holding the bullfrog incident as the perfect example.
  • Body Horror: Lelouch's cape extensions are not sown to his wetsuit, they are embedded in his back. Suzaku and Kallen are extremely disturbed to learn this, and Lelouch himself is thoroughly disgusted by what happened to him.
  • Close-Range Combatant: Kallen's wetsuit is equipped with a set of blades on each arm.
  • Color-Coded Characters: Every teen has a personalised wetsuit — Kallen's is red, Suzaku's is green and Lelouch's is black and purple.
  • Cursed with Awesome: Lelouch is very much freaked to learn his cape extensions are embedded in his back without his consent, but it turns him into the fastest swimmer of the trio and Lelouch quickly starts to use them as another pair of hands.
  • Death by Adaptation: Ryley Robinson is killed when a metal plate from his lifepod is rattled loose and breaks his head open.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Britannia was on board with the universal ban on chemical weapons, apparently.
  • Everything Trying to Kill You: What Kallen thinks of Planet 4546B after their first meeting with a Stalker. Later events don't exactly invalidate her opinion.
  • Fighter, Mage, Thief: When dealing with the hostile predators, Kallen is the Fighter as she's the most agressive and equipped with a set of blades, Suzaku is the Mage who can use a barrier field and detects enemies, and Lelouch is the Thief who does his best to stay unnoticed and will flee if found.
  • Foreshadowing: Lelouch mentions having a bit of a clogged throat and shivers, hinting he's already falling sick from being infected with Kharra.
  • For Want Of A Nail: Due to Ryley Robinson's untimely demise, the Sea Emperor Leviathan gets rather desperate and activates the Thought Elevator in order to find anyone that would finally help her. She picks Lelouch — with Suzaku and Kallen dragged along for the ride.
  • Fragile Speedster: Lelouch easily swims faster than his companions due to his cape extensions, but has no stamina whatsoever.
  • Freak Out: Kallen and Suzaku's reaction when they stumble upon a Stalker out for blood in the kelp forest, right after the predator has managed to assault Lelouch.
  • Geek Physique: Suzaku almost laughs himself sick when the datapad praises Lelouch for exceeding his weekly exercise quota by 5000 percent. Lelouch is not amused.
  • Handicapped Badass: Even with a crippled hand, Kallen drives the Seamoth as a virtuoso.
  • I Am a Monster: Lelouch is pretty upset by the cybernetics embedded in his back, almost calling himself a "deformed freak" when Suzaku comments on the cape extensions.
  • Innocent Innuendo: Kallen almost chokes when Lelouch mentions they need lubricant — for building vehicles, of course.
  • Innocently Insensitive: As Kallen despairs over the possibility she will be left with a paralyzed hand, she calls herself worthless — and Lelouch snaps at her for complaining when she's not blind or unable to walk, clearly thinking of his crippled sister Nunnally.
  • Kidnapped by the Call: It's strongly hinted that the Sea Emperor Leaviathan was responsible for triggering the Thought Elevator and stealing Lelouch away to Planet 4546B, as he managed to hear her voice and she was a mite desperate for someone to finally help her.
  • Locked into Strangeness: After his Geass went berserk as the Thought Elevator was activated, Lelouch now has heterochromia — one eye purple and the other blood red.
  • Mad Scientist: Lelouch gushes over Alterra's technology and scans everything he can see in the ocean out of sheer curiosity. The "mad" part becomes apparent when he decides he wants to dissect an egg, or wait for the egg to hatch in order to dissect the resultant creature to Suzaku's disgust.
  • Monster Is a Mommy: Suzaku is first angry at a crashfish for almost blowing him up, but when he stumbles on the fish's nest and understands it was protecting its egg, he muses he feels bad for orphaning the baby.
  • Noodle Incident:
    • Suzaku apparently suffered a mishap with a bullfrog before Japan was invaded. He's quite embarrassed over it and prevents Lelouch from retelling it.
    • Whatever happened on Obraxis Prime that caused a measly knife to be the only weapon available for survival.
  • Only Sane Man: Lelouch is the only member of the trio on Planet 4546B who is willing to put his personal issues with his companions aside to focus on surviving.
  • Please, Don't Leave Me: Said by Lelouch when he's having a breakdown over Suzaku and Kallen potentially dying from injuries inflicted by the fauna.
  • Reduced to Ratburgers: The stranded teenagers need to hunt for food in order to avoid starvation, and they comment on the local fishes being rather weird to eat — Suzaku calls a peeper "spongy".
  • Refusal of the Call: Lelouch is rather freaked when an alien presence telepathically contacts him and asks for his help, trying to run away from the Thought Elevator — only for Suzaku to make both of them fall inside as they're fighting.
  • Roadside Surgery: The teenagers have to use the medkit when they get jumped by predators, something that highly stresses them. Lelouch outright refuses Suzaku cutting his unwanted cybernetic implants because it's too dangerous a surgery with their lack of qualification and adequate tools.
  • Soft Water: Averted. When Lelouch hits the water right after his abduction, it hurts a lot and he marvels at the fact that his bones are unbroken. Kallen outright gets stunned by the impact and needs a few seconds to awaken.
  • Spider-Sense: Suzaku develops this after being stranded, to his companions' bafflement.
  • Stone Wall: Suzaku's wetsuit comes with barrier fields on his chest, arms and legs.
  • Trapped in Another World: The teenagers panic when they look at the sky and realize this is not Earth's moon right there.
  • We ARE Struggling Together: Suzaku is pissed off because he's stuck with two terrorists (one being his best friend), Kallen is pissed off because she's stuck with a guy she considers a traitor to Japan and a dude that just won't stop lying to her, and Lelouch is upset by his companions' sheer hostility towards him and each other when they really ought to focus on survival.
  • The World Is Just Awesome: When they're not panicking about being eaten by the resident fauna, the stranded teenagers will concede Planet 4546B is beautiful.
