One night, after closing up, Peppino gets bitten by a strange toy. Unfortunately, it's only the start of his problems.
Peppino Spaghetti is your average struggling business owner just trying to make ends meet. However, after getting attacked by a pair of plastic teeth, he starts to... change, in a way that proves to be both funny and frightening.
I Was A Middle-Aged Weretoon is a Pizza Tower AU series by Horologiium (as well as a few other creators) dealing with the idea of Weretoons: werebeasts that transform into cartoony versions of themselves.
I Was A Middle-Aged Weretoon contains examples of:
- Adaptational Gender Identity: Peppino is a trans man in this universe.
- Body Horror: In spades, particularly with how Peppino's toonification is described.
- Four-Fingered Hands: A disturbing variation, since Peppino's middle and ring fingers fuse together to form these.
- Magical Profanity Filter: Any curse word a toonified character tries to say is censored by the game's taunt sound effect.
- Mirror Reveal: Peppino doesn't realize the full extent of his transformation until he catches his reflection in a bathroom mirror.
- Our Werebeasts Are Different: Weretoons are humans (and animals, in Brick's case) that transform into exaggerated, cartoony versions of themselves at night.
- Too Fast to Stop: Rocketing home sends Peppino slamming into the wall beside his bed and instantly knocking himself out.
- Toon Transformation: The main feature of the AU involves realistic versions of the Pizza Tower cast becoming their toony in-game selves.
- Voice Change Surprise: Peppino attempting to swear in toon form is cut off by the taunt sound, much to his shock.
