"Heart's Burial" is a Devil May Cry and Kill la Kill crossover Fusion-fic written by Convulsion. It can be read on FanFiction.Net here and Archive of Our Own here.

During his quest for power, Vergil receives a letter from an anonymous sender, inviting him to Honnouji Academy to prove his strength. After arriving at Honnouji Academy, Vergil is met with humans who have surpassed demons.

Tropes contained in Heart's Burial:

  • Absurdly Sharp Blade: Vergil's signature katana Yamato, when sufficiently imbued with power, is so sharp it can cut through dimensions; Vergil can cut through any object regardless of its size and just like in canon it can separate a man from a demon, which Vergil does to Cavaliere-Rank student who absorbed Cerberus.
  • Adaptational Context Change: Instead of Goku Uniforms, high-ranking students wear Angelo Armors which are imbued with demonic power.
  • Adaptational Wimp: Vergil doesn't possess his signature summoned swords or Devil Trigger, He unlocks Devil Trigger in chapter 5.
  • Bare-Fisted Monk: Even unarmed, Vergil is still an unstoppable killing machine. Even after losing Yamato Vergil was able to take down a Behemoth and kill more than five hundred demons in a single night.
  • Cool Sword: Satsuki's sword Bakuzan can withstand clashes with Yamato and generate blue flames.
  • Devour the Dragon: Before fighting Vergil, Cavaliere rips Cerberus in half and absorbs it to unleash the armor's full power.
  • Establishing Character Moment: Chapter 8 introduces Ryuko who enters an abandoned tunnel giving no shit about the fact it is infested with demons, and then she proceeds to trash talk Phantom, a being who thrived in fires of hell before giving it a brutal beatdown.
  • Hellhound: Cerberus, even though it is still a cub.
  • Horrifying the Horror: To say that in its final moments, The Phantom was terrified of Ryuko is putting it lightly.
  • Made of Iron: Satsuki Kiryuin is the living embodiment of this trope. She can endure an insane amount of pain and punishment. She got her shoulder dislocated, fell from insane height at a breakneck speed, received a kick that would have ripped a demon's head off, and got slashed in the shoulder deep enough to some bone to peek out, got stabbed in the chest, And even got hit with the Judgment Cut.
  • Offscreen Moment of Awesome: Vergil killed more than five hundred demons in a single night with his bare hands.
  • Sanity Slippage: Eating demon flesh causes this as Vergil becomes more unhinged and starts feeling unsatisfying hunger to eat more demon and human flesh.
