Hearts Aflutter
is a Worm and Yandere Simulator crossover where Taylor becomes Ayano's Senpai.

Hearts Aflutter provides examples of:
- Adaptational Heroism: Zig-zagged due to the multiple routes of the game, but Hearts Aflutter!Ayano is this to a murderous canon!Ayano. She's still killing people, but her targets in this case aren't innocent girls who just happened to like this one boy, but brutal bullies who'd been relentlessly tormenting Taylor for years.
- Ascended Extra: Gallant, who is killed off early into Worm during Leviathan's attack, has a more prominent active role in this story due to his emotion-reading powers being very relevant to the situation involving Ayano Aishi. He gets his own interlude, for example.
- Asshole Victim: All of Ayano's murder victims are Taylor's bullies, as well as an armed mugger.
- Berserk Button: Don't try to hit on Taylor and definitely don't bully her. Ayano will make sure you don't live long enough to regret it.
- Big Brother Instinct: After hearing from Lisa that one of his little sister's friends' is a dangerous killer that is targeting her next, Brian walks Aisha to and from school acting as her bodyguard her whether she likes it or not.
- Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: Ayano can act like an nice, innocent schoolgirl while still being a dangerous Serial Killer and Stalker with a Crush.
- Brainwashed and Crazy: Madison when she kills Emma.
- Broken Bird: Madison and Ayano's father Hizashi are this. Madison is forced to confess for crimes she committed while Mastered, while Hizashi is married to a yandere he legitimately doesn't love but can't leave and has resigned himself to his fate. When Sophia's viewpoint rolls around, it turns out that she has shades of this herself.
- Bully Magnet: Taylor is this at Winslow which some meet a bloody end at Ayano's hands.
- Creepy Child: Maiko and Sophia see Ayano as this, which Taylor will deny.
- Cute and Psycho: Ayano is willing to go extreme lengths for her goal of having Taylor and is sometimes described as adorable.
- Dramatic Irony: Taylor at one point in the police station fears that Ayano could be the killer's next victim, completely unware that Ayano is the murderer.
- Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Sophia/Shadow Stalker is really torn up by brainwashed!Madison's murder of Emma, her best friend. She becomes even more ruthless and engages in much Villainous Self-Deprecation, further distancing herself from the other Wards.
- False Friend: Ayano is this to Aisha and many of her victims.
- Green-Eyed Monster: Ayano is intensely jealous of anyone who might take her precious Taylor away from her (looking at you Brian). Emphasis on the "Monster" part since she's a Serial Killer.
- Hidden Badass: Ayano makes herself appear as plain as possible, so that she would be Beneath Suspicion.
- Karma Houdini: Ayano manipulates events to point the evidence accusing Taylor of killing her bullies onto Madison, who is also killed, letting both of them get away without any consequences.
- Love Interest: Taylor is this to Ayano. Not that she knows it.
- Manipulative Bitch: Ayano murders most of Taylor's bullies, then forces Madison to write a letter pinning it on herself and kill Emma, which results in her own death. Ayano—and Taylor, who had come under suspicion for the murders earlier—get off Scot free.
- Nothing Is Scarier: While Taylor is in police custody, she meets a teenaged member of the ABB, who asks what she's in for. Taylor explains what the police found in her diary, which detailed all of the things she would've liked to have done to the Trio in Revenge. While we are not told what she fantasised about doing, it's enough to scare a gang member into sitting as far from Taylor as possible in the cell.
- Only Friend: Ayano is this to Taylor, unaware she wants to become more than friends.
- Pay Evil unto Evil: What Ayano did to the Trio was certainly horrible, but considering how maliciously they abused Taylor, it's not like it wasn't unwarranted.
- Psycho Lesbian: Ayano is madly in love with Taylor and is actively killing off anyone who dares threaten her or tries to "steal" Taylor from her.
- Revenge by Proxy: Ayano uses Madison as a proxy to murder Emma.
- Secret Diary: When the police investigate Ayano's murders, they end up finding Taylor's diary which records everything the trio has done to her. Just as quickly, Taylor becomes a major suspect.
- Serial Killer: Ayano Aishi is this.
- Sherlock Scan: Lisa's powers, which tells her that the person behind the brutal murderer is someone with a good reputation who no one suspects... and shares a class with one of Lisa's friends.
- Stalker with a Crush: Ayano is Taylor's stalker who actively tries to be as close to her as possible and is madly in love with her.
- Terse Talker: Taylor describes Ayano as this when they're talking about Emma's murder.
- The Unfettered: There's nothing Ayano won't do in order to keep her precious Taylor to herself from the bullies — murder, torture, kidnapping, threats, the works.
- Unknown Rival: It seems Ayano sees Brian as a potential love rival to Taylor, who has no idea that Ayano has a crush on her.
- Villain with Good Publicity: Ayano Aishi and her mother are this.
- Villain Protagonist: Granted, Worm practically ran on these, but while Taylor was a reluctant villain with standards, Ayano is an unapologetic murderess who kills anyone who gets between her and Taylor.
- Yandere: Ayano and Ryoba, of course, only this time, Taylor is the one Ayano pines for. There's also a chart on the fic's thread that indicates which characters are also yanderes. According to it, Amelia is also one and she pines for Victoria as in canon.
