Growing up is hard.
Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III thought he had a tough time of it until he and Astrid found themselves blessed with a set of fraternal twins named Finn and Adrianna. But as their children grow up, they realize that maybe, just maybe, they'd had an easy life all along.
Fearless Finn Haddock, heir to the chiefdom, takes after his grandfather, Stoick. Tall and muscular, he certainly comes off as your typical Viking. Which means he and Hiccup definitely have their differences. Adrianna Miracle Haddock, the slightly younger twin, is her brother's opposite in almost every way. Gentle, affectionate, and quite creative, she is definitely her father's daughter.
But, of course, this is a fanfiction. Things can't possibly go smoothly in a fanfiction. The Haddock twins' lives are constantly plagued with misfortune, from Adrianna being kidnapped as a toddler to Finn being sold into slavery. Nothing about their childhood is remotely normal.
But that's all part of growing up... right?

This fanfiction provides examples of:
- An Aesop: Every single story has a moral. Some are more obvious than others.
- Bittersweet Ending: The authors seem very fond of this trope, as almost none of the installments have a solidly happy ending yet all but one leave on a hopeful note.
- Bloody Horror: There are several instances of this, most notably Benen's death, which involves him being impaled with a wooden beam and Erick having his foot ripped to shreds in Growing Pains.
- Book Ends: Hiccup begins and ends every installment except the first with a "this is Berk" segment, the second of which always ties into the first and expands upon the moral of the story.
- Break His Heart to Save Him: Adrianna does this to Erick after she is threatened by Brandyn.
- Child by Rape: Adrianna's baby.
- Childhood Friend Romance: Erick and Adrianna are a classic example.
- Cock Fight: Erick and Brandyn have one, but it's broken up fairly quickly.
- Coming of Age Story: This whole series, really.
- Cry into Chest: The authors love this trope:
- Adrianna breaks down sobbing in Hiccup's arms after her kidnapping.
- Both Finn and Adrianna cry on Hiccup after Stoick's death.
- Finn cries onto Astrid twice, once when Benen died and again when he finally realizes how out-of-control he's been in Growing Pains.
- Adrianna cries on Finn's chest after destroying all of the gifts Brandyn ever gave her.
- Adrianna breaks down in Erick's arms just after telling him that she is pregnant. She does this again with Hiccup 2 chapters later.
- Dance of Romance: Erick and Adrianna have one during the Snoggletog party in Nothing to Fear.
- First Kiss: Erick and Adrianna share this on Snoggletog.
- Foreshadowing: The authors love to throw in little asides that end up being gigantic plot points later.
- Give the Baby a Father: Erick proposes to Adrianna much sooner than he would have if she weren't pregnant.
- Heroic BSoD: Hiccup after Adrianna is rescued but still won't let him near her.
- Mouthy Kid: Adrianna, though not quite as sassy. Sometimes Finn counts as well.
- Pregnant Hostage: Astrid in the first story.
- Puppy Love: Erick has a crush on Adrianna from Taming Hearts onwards. The two end up engaged, so it certainly seems to work out for him.
- Running Gag: Hiccup and Snotlout have a slap bet, which Hiccup wins. The authors appeared to have forgotten about this for nearly a year before they abruptly brought it back 2 installments later.
- Shout-Out:
- Quite a few. The slap bet is a likely reference to How I Met Your Mother. Cliff and Taryn's conversation is reminiscent of a conversation between Sans and Toriel in Undertale.
- A subverted one is that this was where Cliff from The BOSSA Jacksepticeye Fangame came from.
- Team Mom: Taryn, but sometimes Adrianna.
- Teen Pregnancy: Adrianna, though the time period makes this a lot less scandalous.
- Unable to Cry: Hiccup after Stoick dies. He eventually does break down some time later.
