Golden Apple Slices
is a Friday Night Funkin' fanfiction written by Bopple McNuggets that focuses on the Dave and Bambi mod, specifically its Recursive Fanfiction, Dave and Bambi: Golden Apple Edition. One month after the events of Week 1 in D&B, Dave has suffered heavy villainization from those close to him after his accidental near-Apocalypse How, forcing him to confide in his friend Bambi in the hopes of coming up with a potential solution. When his Power Incontinence is suddenly pushed again, however, he and Bambi have a whole new problem on their hands - surviving in the Eldritch Location that is the 3D world and getting to know the beings that inhabit it.
Golden Apple Slices provides examples of:
- Absolute Xenophobe: Expunged retains this trait from Vs. Dave and Bambi, given that its first instinct upon seeing Dave and Bambi in the 3D world is to try and kill them.
- Adaptational Species Change: Sart Producer is 100% robot in the original Dave and Bambi: Golden Apple Edition, while this story depicts her as a human fused into a robotic body.
- Belly Mouth: Expunged has an unusual case of this in Chapter 2, as it detaches its leg and creates a mouth at the bottom of its torso when it tries to eat Dave and Bambi.
- Big Damn Heroes: Bandu pulls this in Chapter 2, saving Dave and Bambi just before they are eaten by Expunged.
- Body Horror: Sart Producer has been given an extra dose of this, as her transformation into her robotic form involves her human body being pierced by metallic threads and fused with her new mechanical body.
- Heroic BSoD: Bambi suffers one throughout the entirety of Chapter 2 when in the presence of Expunged, completely freezing up to the point of paralysis and requiring Dave to speak for him. Chapter 3 reveals this is due to him having an existential crisis over his and Expunged's similar appearances.
- Intentional Engrish for Funny: Bambi retains this from his mod of origin, though it pops up much more often. As his vocal patterns are taken from Bambi, Expunged also speaks like this.
- Mood-Swinger: Bambi is very quick to go from calm and attentive to furious the second he learns Dave's life has been threatened in Chapter 1.
- Mood Whiplash: Bandu is introduced when he knocks Expunged away from Dave and Bambi with a dead-serious expression, acting like one would expect a typical stone-hearted savior...only to shift just as quickly to his usual demeanor before even speaking.
- Offscreen Teleportation: Invoked a few times by Bambi, who has the ability to teleport whenever no one is looking at him in order to grab things.
- Running Gag: Bambi's apparently infinite stash of phones, which he throws on the ground and at people with reckless abandon.
- Slasher Smile: Just like in its mod of origin, Expunged is described as having one that never leaves its face.
- Trauma Button: Tristan appears to have become this, as Bambi offhandedly bringing up his name is what causes Dave's emotional power burst that sends them to the 3D world.
- Wham Line: Anyone familiar with Dave and Bambi: Golden Apple Edition will recognize the line at the end of Chapter 1 as the sign that a certain Humanoid Abomination has just entered the scene.Expunged: "M̵̞͝Ỏ̸̭̳LD̵̬̊́Y B̵͎̏͜E̸͓͠ Ḷ̶̀̅I̸̻̒K̷̯̲̓E.̵̱̓"
- What the Hell, Hero?: No one involved is impressed with Bambi taking out his fright and anger by beating up Bandu in Chapter 4, especially not Ringi, and all of Chapter 5 and 6 are spent with Bambi trying to make up for it.
