Gold Light, Green Light is a She-Ra and the Princesses of Power and Green Lantern crossover story by Kung-fu Blaziken, in which a Green Lantern ring finds its way to Adora after Etheria is dragged back into the universe. Now Adora must find a way to control the ring's power and get it to cooperate with her inherent She-Ra powers if she wants to save the people she loves.

  • Author Tract: While the writing itself makes it clear the author's opinions on Shadow Weaver, he takes a moment in the author's notes of Chapter 9 to really vent.
  • Berserk Button: DO NOT hurt Catra around Adora. Just don't.
  • Betrayal Insurance: Sinestro, not being an idiot, knew that the people he was planning on recruiting tend to not play well with others. Thus, he designed his ring to have an override function to get past the natural Clingy MacGuffin nature of power rings, allowing him, and later Soranik, to remove yellow power rings with ease.
  • Big Bad: Horde Prime, naturally, at least for the initial arc. The following two arcs don't really have one.
  • Big "WHAT?!": Adora, when she finds out exactly what Mogo is.
  • Clingy MacGuffin: Adora's Green Lantern Ring is seemingly damaged when it reaches her, so it firmly resists any attempts at removal. The author's notes imply that part of the reason is a malfunctioning security measure meant to prevent just anyone from taking a ring off of a Lantern. Adora notes that seems to become even more firmly attached to her after the Sword of Power is reforged, implied to be due to the mixture of Lantern and She-Ra energies.
  • Death by Adaptation: The backstory for the Green Lantern Corps here has them rebuilding by the time Adora gets her ring. Several crises have whittled down their numbers, but particularly the Blackest Night, during which Sinestro and most of the Earth-based Lanterns go down fighting Big Bad Nekron.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: The main characters go through more or less everything in canon and then some. Despite this, the story ends happily, with Angella rescued and Catra successfully proposing to Adora.
  • The Final Temptation: A Yellow Lantern named Romat Ru tries to lure Catra in with the offer of a Sinestro Corps power ring. Catra is tempted but rejects his offer, slashing him across the face for good measure.
  • Fusion Fic: The story operates under the idea that Etheria is a world in the greater DC Universe. References outside of Green Lantern lore are sparse, mostly things like name-dropping Kryptonians, or having Lobo show up, hit on Catra, and get his butt handed to him by Adora for his trouble. Lex Luthor is the main villain of one chapter, wielding an orange power ring, but that is the largest of non-Lantern references.
  • Hearing Voices: When Catra and Glimmer are both held captive by Horde Prime, Catra reveals that she hears a single voice. It appears to be her conscience, telling her when she's doing something wrong or that Shadow Weaver's abuse isn't right.
  • In Spite of a Nail: Despite the ripple effects that the Green Lantern Ring arriving on Etheria caused, Catra still stays behind to ensure that Glimmer can escape Horde Prime, although the exact events are very different.
  • Mindlink Mates: Played with. Due to how the events of the Heart of Etheria played out, Catra absorbed some of the She-Ra/Lantern fusion energy, then her mind helped Adora's reboot Etheria via the Heart. It's complicated and never fully explained. The link comes afterward, with Adora and Catra maintaining a 'sense' for each other that goes beyond closeness as a couple/childhood friends. Occasionally, Catra's eyes will glow the same green-and-gold that Adora's does as She-Ra. The practical upshot of this appears to be not quite a psychic connection, but definitely an empathic one, which can be leveraged to increase combat effectiveness, better deal with arguments, and sense when the other is in danger and find them.
  • Power Incontinence: Adora initially has a lot of trouble with the ring, due to the energy clashing with the mystical imprint of She-Ra still in her. It's not until she uses the ring to reforge her sword that the two energies start to work in concert.
  • Power Limiter: When Horde Prime brings Glimmer back to Etheria as part of his plan for the Heart, he uses restraints that keep her from effectively harnessing her magic.
  • Strategy Versus Tactics: Catra vs. Adora, respectively. Adora was skilled at tactics in her Horde classes, making plans for an immediate goal that she could adjust on the fly. In contrast, Catra was much better at long-term than Adora was, having the ability to figure out what was needed overall to fulfill a singular goal. As Adora puts it, she is good at fighting battles, while Catra is good at fighting wars.
  • Spared by the Adaptation: Mara's a ghost now.
  • There Are No Therapists: Averted HARD. After the war, both Adora and Catra get some, and while we don't see any of it, and it clearly does them a world of good.
  • Villainous Parental Instinct: In Soranik Natu's backstory, she spent much of the Sinestro Corps War as a POW, where she learned that Sinestro was her biological father. She came away with mixed feelings about the man, compounded by both his clear protection of her from his minions, and that after his death in the Blackest Night, she inherited his yellow ring.
  • Violently Protective Girlfriend: After the war ended, there was apparently one assassination attempt on Catra. Emphasis on ONE. What happened? Adora happened. She apparently still gets twitchy when assassins in general are mentioned. Others who learned the hard way that Catra is not to be touched include Horde Prime, Shadow Weaver, Stinkor, Lobo, and several Sinestro Corpsmen.
