Gets Wrecked
is a short The Magic School Bus fanfic by madamerenard with The Magic School Bus Rides Again elements.
The plot is simple: What If? there was an accident while on a field trip?
While out with the class one day, the schoolbus gets hit by a truck. None of the kids are hurt but Ms. Frizzle is left with mild brain damage. She can't remember her students at all anymore. The rest of the story concerns her amnesiac state.
Gets Wrecked provides examples of:
- Amnesia Episode: Ms. Frizzle becomes amnesia and has to slowly recover her memories.
- Dark Fic: Mildly so. It's not anything above the series' level, but the plot is more serious than the norm. There's almost never any real danger in the cartoon.
- Easy Amnesia: After getting into a car crash, Ms. Frizzle can't remember much besides basic skills. She suffers from Identity Amnesia. Over the course of several weeks she eventually regains her memories.
- Hurt/Comfort Fic: The plot revolves around Ms. Frizzle trying to recover her memories.
- Patchwork Fic: it takes place during the original series but features Valerie's sister Fiona from the 2010s cartoon (who subs for her sister while she's recovering).
