Archer: What are you doing here, le Fay?
Berserker: I just answered that question, silly boy. Your Fairy Godmother is here to make sure everyone gets the happy ending they deserve.

A Fate/stay night fanfic by blindinkpoet.

There are many ways the Fifth Holy Grail War can go. Even when all the Servants are the same, the smallest choices can change everything. The girl Shirou falls for can change who lives or who dies, a few words at the right moment can make everything go completely off the rails, and even something as simple as when the Masters return home from school can alter the entire future.

Or Morgan le Fay can just get herself summoned and start screwing with the War from the word go.

Morgan le Fay, once Morgan Pendragon, still feels guilt for the ruin of Camelot. Seeing all the paths her sister's life can take, she decides to insert herself in the Fifth Holy Grail War, taking the Berserker slot and getting herself summoned by Shirou Emiya. Using her supreme magical power combined with knowledge of the future, she quickly begins manipulating events in her favor, hoping to build a new future where almost everyone can be happy.

The other players in the War are mostly confused, certainly suspicious, and not willing to just go along with a mysterious witch. But Morgan planned for that, and nothing is going to stand in the way of finally making things right.

This fanfic provides examples of:

  • An Arm and a Leg: Despite her rescue and Rin's assistance, Bazett still loses the arm that originally held her Command Seals.
  • Clueless Chick-Magnet: Shirou, of course, as always. Just to start with he's got Rin and Sakura both after him. Morgan knows from the start she's going to end up having sex with him, but reminds herself not to be drawn into his "harem." Artoria doesn't interact with him but Morgan promises she'll end up with Archer (so Shirou from another direction), and Ayako ends up drawn into the War when Shirou saves her.
  • The Dog Bites Back: Lancer, thanks to Caster's Rulebreaker is freed from his forced allegiance to Kotomine, stages a rescue of his original Master, and kills the priest.
  • Intimate Healing: Morgan notes that she'll need to do a sex-as-mana-transfer with Shirou eventually (and is even looking forward to it), but she taps into the local ley lines as an alternative energy source to put that off as long as possible. When it starts becoming more imminent, she asks Sakura for permission first.
  • Odd Friendship: Caster and Rider, spurred on by Morgan's actions, quickly ally. They're implied to have known each other—or at least known of each other—in life, and it doesn't take them long to decide they can work together for the same goals.
  • Peggy Sue: In a variant, Morgan, the one going back in time, had absolutely nothing to do with the original events; the very first change she made was getting herself summoned instead of someone else. She still fills the role, though, as she has full knowledge of the future and uses it to put everything on a more preferred path.
  • Pet the Dog: Technically the entire fic is one big example, as Morgan is trying to make up for her mistakes by maximizing happiness. More specifically:
    • She's rather gentle with Archer, largely treating him as a scared, angry child who just needs to be shown some kindness. Archer is, of course, more than a little confused at this, but Morgan promises that he'll end up with Artoria in the end.
    • She clearly sees a lot of herself in Sakura, and one of her first goals is to get her out from under Zouken's thumb. She also asks permission before doing a sex-as-mana-transfer with Shirou, even though Shirou and Sakura aren't actually dating.
    • Likewise, she sees the parallels between Illya and Shirou with herself and Artoria, and shuts down their first fight before it can even start.
  • Smarter Than You Look: Morgan is surprised when Shirou catches on rather quickly that something strange is going on with her. She mentally notes that she should have known better; he tends to get hyper-focused on a goal, but this is a boy whose primary ability is Awesomeness by Analysis. He is good at noticing small details and putting them together quickly.
  • Taken for Granite: This is how Caster and Rider deal with Zouken. They cut off his presence from the rest of the world via a bounded field around his manor before having Rider turn his physical form into stone. Time will tell if this is a definitive measure.
  • Square Race, Round Class: One of the most powerful witches of all time is summoned as a Berserker. This is canon to Fate/Grand Order, but it was weird there too. The very first thing Morgan does is break the Mad Enchantment on herself, making her a Berserker in name only.
