Echoes of Beljoxa
is a Buffy the Vampire Slayer Fan Fic. A typical Peggy Sue, involving Mental Time Travel, where Buffy and Spike are sent back in time to help the Scoobies face off Glory and prevent the rise of the First Evil by preventing Buffy's resurrection.
This work contains examples of the following tropes:
- Aura Vision: Tara's ability, which is Played for Drama as it allows her to find out something's is wrong with Buffy and Spike.
- Bargain with Heaven: Future Tara makes a deal with the Powers to be sent back in time to help Buffy and Spike. Although it comes with temporary amnesia.
- The Chosen Many: Subverted. Buffy realizes that her original plan to turn all potentials into Slayers would cause an even greater unbalance in the universe.
- Dreaming of Things to Come: Buffy, who now has much clearer dreams as the Powers sent her small visions of the future when she success or fails in changing the timeline.
- Entropy and Chaos Magic: Spike is unnerved about the time travel spell due to the tendency of magic to go wary or do something unexpected and often unpleasant.
- For Want Of A Nail: Because of changes in the timeline, it's Anya who is at the Magic Box when Glory comes purchasing items for her Sobekian transmogrification spell.
- Greater-Scope Villain: The First Evil, of course.
- History Repeats: When Giles finds out Spike has a soul, he fears that it would result in a Angelus-style situation all over again.
- Idle Rich: Spike, who spent centuries purchasing lands and houses and then lease them out. It's how he could
afford his purchases while having no job in canon. - In Spite of a Nail: When Anya refuses to sell magical items to Glory, the hellgoddess knocks her unconscious and trashes the shop to get her items.
- Mental Time Travel: How Buffy, Spike and Tara travel back in time.
- Photographic Memory: Whistler gives this to Buffy and Spike, to ensure that flawed human memory does not mess up the timeline and causes even worse problems.
- The Resenter: Buffy, who's still angry about Giles abandoning her in season six and later conspiring to have Spike killed. It causes friction between her and Giles.
- Secret-Keeper: Tara and Giles.
- Spanner in the Works: Tara before she gains her future memories to Buffy and Spike.
- We ARE Struggling Together: It defines the relationship between Buffy and past Giles.
