Despite The Snow
is a Pokémon X and Y fanfiction series. It is a shipping fic, focused on X/Y's primary antagonist Lysandre, and Gen VI Professor, Augustine Sycamore.
Set before the events of the game, it details the initial meeting and fall into sometimes violent obsession as the two men immediately become enamoured with one another. It is a story in three parts, the initial fic (7 Days in Lumiose City) covers the meeting, the second (The Kind Deceivers) their obsession, and the "never to be written sequel" (Fragments of a Love Affair) shows the "happy" couple in their more or less natural state.
Despite The Snow features examples of:
- Deceptively Silly Title: For a very long time, the series as a whole was referred to as "The Sad Boners Saga." .
- Destructive Romance: The entire series spends exceptional amounts of time detailing just precisely how destructive, indeed.

Jerkass Woobie: By the end of the The Kind Deceivers, you will find yourself unsure whether to feel very sorry for Lysandre or to just shake him a lot. Particularly after the Red Chamber and the reveal of Lazare's history of abuse and the cycle that it continued into as he raised Lysandre. - Love at First Sight: Seven Days in Lumiose City is effectively one long love-song to this trope.
- Love Martyr: Sycamore certainly considers himself one.
- Mood Whiplash: Particularly in the outlined sequel, for obvious reasons relating to the condensed style. But in any given chapter you can expect to run the gamut from sex and violence, humour and heart wrenching sobbing, etc.
- Parental Neglect: Lysandre's father never looked twice at his son slightly subverted, and it leads to one of the most gut punching plot twists in the Saga
- Ridiculously Cute Critter: There are many, as this is a Pokemon fanfic, but Theo and Beckett especially.
