Sesshoumaru has gone looking for Naraku, and unfortunately he finds him. Naraku imprisons him within his body, trying to break him and finally absorb him into himself.
FanFiction.net story synopsis

Darkness is a Inuyasha fanfiction written by Ankh-Ascendant. Sesshoumaru is lured into a trap by Naraku and then imprisoned, with a moderate amount of gore, inside a diamond cell with Tenseiga's barrier protecting him from being absorbed. Sesshoumaru slowly finds that he is helpless and being robbed of his senses by the imprisonment.

The linked version has no sex scene, but there is another which does.

Darkness includes examples of:

  • All Just a Dream: The ending implies that at least the sexual assault and maybe more of the taunting may have all been in Sesshoumaru's head.
  • Ambiguous Ending: It seems like the situation is resolved and the story is over... then at the very end a voice asks in Sesshoumaru's mind "Are you afraid of the dark?"
  • The Assimilator: Naraku's motivation is to try to absorb Sesshoumaru and his power.
  • Badass in Distress: The entire premise of the story is that Sesshoumaru is captured and helplessly imprisoned.
  • Big Damn Heroes: At the end, Inuyasha busts in and saves Sesshoumaru from his prison. We don't even see the fight, just Inuyasha's sudden appearance.
  • Blood from the Mouth: When Sesshoumaru is impaled, his lungs are hit and he coughs blood onto the diamond spears stabbing him.
  • Bloodier and Gorier: This fic is gorier than the manga or anime; it doesn't avoid mentioning injuries, and Sesshoumaru suffers everything from broken fingernails to multiple impalements.
  • Break the Haughty: Naraku attempts to break Sesshoumaru's pride, to all appearances, by not killing him when he actually has the chance and holding him a helpless prisoner instead.
  • Defiant Captive: It doesn't matter how helpless he is, Sesshouaru never considers appeasing Naraku. It's all death threats and attempts to find his way out, and even after he admits there is none he doesn't bend.
  • Defiant to the End: Sesshoumaru admits to himself that he is in a hopeless situation and he is going to die, but he is determined to resist Naraku until that happens.
  • Deflector Shield: Tenseiga throws up a glowing energy barrier to protect him from being crushed by the diamond. It eventually goes out.
  • The Determinator: Sesshoumaru is impaled by some diamond and runs up its length to attack Byakuya, then rips himself off of it and goes after him without even dealing with the injuries.
  • Evil Gloating: Naraku takes joy in gloating about what he has supposedly done to Sesshoumaru's followers and Morality Pets, just to get in his head.
  • Gone Mad From The Isolation: It's left unclear how much Sesshoumaru's mind was slipping from the isolation and sensory deprivation and how much actually happened. This is what bothers Sesshoumaru most at the end.
  • Healing Factor: Sesshoumaru has some injuries to regenerate from over the course of the story; the speed of it varies with how much power he's accessing. A surge of power closes a gaping chest wound most would consider fatal, but he noticed his broken arm healing more slowly as he conserves power.
    • Good Thing You Can Heal: Sesshoumaru intentionally severely injures himself to get free because he knows he will heal.
  • Human Pincushion: Sesshoumaru is impaled with at least a half-dozen diamond shards all at once.
  • I Die Free: Sesshoumaru comes to the decision that he is, actually, willing to kill himself to avoid being absorbed into Naraku, which given his pride is not a simple decision. It's an empty decision anyway, as being willing to kill himself doesn't do any good - even if he did, Naraku would absorb his corpse and have his power anyway.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Sesshoumaru is run through with a diamond spear stretching from wall to wall.
  • Kneel Before Zod: Naraku doesn't actually make the demand, but when Tenseiga gives out, instead of absorbing him, Naraku freezes Sesshoumaru in a kneeling position with his head bowed, encased in diamond.
  • Major Injury Underreaction: Sesshoumaru breaks bones and hardly seems to notice; he rips himself sideways off of something that's impaling him, then goes on a footchase. Probably justified by the Healing Factor of Sesshoumaru and the other youkai in Inuyasha.
  • Master of Illusion: Byakuya, one of Naraku's offspring, makes at least visual illusions. Sesshoumaru also ascribes him the ability to throw voices and make him think he's smelling things.
  • Power Perversion Potential: The lemon version has Naraku using his diamond tentacles in a very inappropriate manner. As well as Tenseiga, the sword that won't cut.
  • Relative Button: Naraku taunts Sesshoumaru with Rin and to a lesser extent Kohaku to rile him up, at least once. (It's debatable how many of the times are actually Naraku.)
  • That's No Moon: Sesshoumaru thought he was inside a cave in a mountain that smelled of Naraku because he was using it as a lair… He realizes too late that the mountain itself is Naraku's body.
  • Unreliable Narrator: We see everything from Sesshoumaru's point of view. Sesshoumaru's mind is playing tricks on him.
  • Voluntary Shapeshifting: Sesshoumaru changes from his human(ish) form into his dog form at will.
    • Shapeshifter Baggage: Sesshoumaru is a normal-sized humanoid. Sesshoumaru's true form is bigger than a large house and solid enough to shoulder aside stone.
    • Transformation Is a Free Action: Averted - one of Sesshoumaru's transformations is brutally interrupted.
    • The Mind Is a Plaything of the Body: In his dog form, Sesshoumaru is markedly less intelligent and able to plan; his goals are to hunt and kill his enemies, and it takes him a while to realize when he needs to change back. He only has humanlike intelligence in his human form.
  • What You Are in the Dark: This fic might as well be titled "What You Are In The Dark: The Fanfiction". Sesshoumaru gets through it without yielding, though; turns out that in the dark he's as proud and unbending as when he has an audience.
