Daring Do & the Mysterious Mare Do Well: Canterlot Crisis
is a story by Cannon Fodder. As the name states, this features the adventurer Daring Do and the superhero/vigilante Mysterious Mare Do Well paring up to fight an evil organization.
After the kidnapping of Prince Blueblood, and the lost of a friend, Daring Do teams up with the shadowy Mysterious Mare-Do-Well to fight the resurrected criminal organization, HURRICANE, who has restarted its old goal of not only conquering Canterlot, but possibly the world itself.

Daring Do & the Mysterious Mare Do Well: Canterlot Crisis provides examples of:
- Action Prologue: The story begins with Mare-Do-Well racing to Union Jack's rendezvous point in Manehatten.
- Big Applesauce: As shown with Manehatten, which is from the show proper, is described in both its good side and its bad side. As described in the fanfiction:...Manehatten. A city that never slept, the home of corruption and opportunity. A land where anypony could make it big, or hit rock bottom. A city where a risk-taker like Daring could consider a decent place to live.
- Cool Car: Or rather, a cool stagecoach, courtesy of the Mysterious Mare-Do-Well. It looks like your typical stagecoach (mysteriously without any horses), but on the inside, it is an advanced vehicle that has a computer, and is truly a car that's both computer controlled and manually controlled.
- Continuity Nod: The story makes reference to the event when Ponyville was attacked by parasprites in "Swarm of the Century".
- Crimefighting with Cash: Mare-Do-Well is loaded with cash, what with her high-tech suit, a car, a five star underground lair and a computer to boot. Daring Do believes she's more rich than Fancy Pants himself.
- Deadpan Snarker: Mysterious Mare-Do-Well.
- Elaborate Underground Base: Mare-Do-Well's Home Base is this. And it definitely lives up to its elaborate name. The entrance is located one mile below Canterlot, hidden. You then take an elevator down below to the most extravagant suite you have ever seen. As seen in Chapter 2 and Chapter 5, it contains white metallic walls, emerald carpeting, a desk for solving crime, a wall of gadgets, a wall that has a computer behind it, a dark room, an elaborate kitchen, amongst other things. The only thing missing in the base is the trophy shelf.
- Evil Brit: Union Jack, who was born in Trottingham.
- Evil Counterpart: Dr. Giovanni D'Angelo is this to Daring Do.
- Eye Scream: Mare-Do-Well spits chemical in Union Jack's eyes at the beginning of the story, which results in Union Jack getting an eyepatch for the rest of the story.
- It's Not You, It's My Enemies: Mare-Do-Well tells Daring Do as this being the main reason why she cannot reveal her identity.Mare-Do-Well: I already told you, I can't reveal my identity. It may compromise others that I have worked with. My enemies are still out there, trying to find me. And if they know who I communicate with, they'll likely go through them to get to me. Who knows, they could be listening to me right now.
- I Work Alone: Besides the occasional partnership of associates (at leas in Daring Do's case, and implied in Mare-Do-Well's case) both Daring Do and the Mysterious Mare-Do-Well's jobs aren't particularly social, though Mare-Do-Well upholds this troupe the most. However, ever since her investigations into the dangerous HURRICANE, and her team-up with Daring Do, has caused her to consider getting a partner. In Chapter 11, it is revealed that somepony once got mixed up with Mare-Do-Well's work, like Daring Do, but ends up getting killed in the process.
- Mysterious Past: The Mysterious Mare-Do-Well
- The Power of Friendship: Daring Do shares Mare-Do-Well the friendship.
- Names to Run From Really Fast: The criminal syndicate H.U.R.R.I.C.A.N.E. and High Roller, the original, ruthless leader of the group (though since he is dead, he's not the one you have to worry about).
- Shout-Out: When Givonni gives Daring Do his "Not So Different" Remark, he lifts a line from Rene Belloc of Raiders of the Lost Ark. Shoot, he technically is Rene.
- Thou Shalt Not Kill: Subverted, both Daring Do and Mare-Do-Well are willing to kill if necessary.
- You Watch Too Much X: Daring Do tells Mare-Do-Well that she reads too much comic books, as a response to her. Mare-Do-Well is amused.
- You Have Failed Me: The HURRICANE syndicate makes it clear that they will kill anybody who fails their objectives.
