You remember the prisoner's dilemma? There, you have to trust a single guy to not stab you in the back, even though the best solution for you would be to stab that sucker in the back because he blindly chose to trust you. Now imagine having to trust 15 people with your life.
Sasuke Akechi

Danganronpa: Komm Susser Tod is a Danganronpa Continuation Fanfic, written throughout 2021 and 2022 by Wattpad user Reborn4Dog. It is the second installment in a trilogy known as the K.R.D. Chronicles, with Danganronpa: Memento Mori being its predecessor, and Danganronpa: Paradise Lost being its sequel.

Best friends Reiji Suzuki and Mamoru Kurosawa, bonded by their shared interest in filmmaking, are both invited to join Hope's Peak Academy as the Ultimate Cameraman and Screenwriter, respectively. However, they become just two of the latest victims of a trap that ends up with them in the middle of a Killing Game, in which only the one who kills and manages to cover it up will be allowed by Monokuma to leave. The two thus must put their trust in the 14 others trapped with them, and hope it is warranted.

Danganronpa: Komm Susser Tod can be read here.

Danganronpa: Komm Susser Tod contains examples of:

  • Accidental Misnaming: Both Reiji and Mamoru are fans of a Show Within a Show known as Shogun Yamato — with a minor Running Gag being both themselves and others, due to not remembering it as fondly or being unable to focus as a result of the Killing Game, referring to it as Samurai Yamato.
  • Accidental Murder: Nanae, by accident, suffocates Mayu to death while attempting to perform CPR in Chapter 3.
  • A God Am I: After completely losing his mind in Chapter 3, Iori begins to proclaim himself to be a god.
  • Amputation Stops Spread: Ukyo is forced to amputate one of his arms in Chapter 4 after being tricked by Iori and getting it poisoned. This convinces him to help cover for Tetsuo as he kills Iori, and for the rest of the story Ukyo has a prosthetic arm.
  • Ate His Gun: Shuya's execution in Chapter 1 ends with him drunk enough to inadvertently put a gun into his mouth and pull the trigger, blowing his brains out.
  • Breaking Old Trends: Although there are two murders in Chapter 3, this time it is the work of two killers. And the unsympathetic one who killed deliberately manages to get away with it, whereas the sympathetic one who accidently killed is the one that is executed.
  • Broken Bird: Mayu's traumatic past has resulted in her becoming incredibly aloof and pessimistic. Despite Nanae's attempts to help her, she never really recovers.
  • Broken Pedestal: Chie looks up to Usagi akin to a Cool Big Sis — and is thus devastated by the latter turning out to be Chapter 2's culprit.
  • …But He Sounds Handsome: Used to expose a character's relatively minor crimes. Reiji picks up on Mamoru speaking fondly of the infamous hentai artist SHADOWMOUNTAIN and his works, and ultimately finds out that Mamoru was SHADOWMOUNTAIN all along.
  • Canon Character All Along: The big reveal of Chapter 1 is that the masked, justice-loving Tetsuo is Sparkling Justice.
  • Card-Carrying Villain: Sasuke Akechi is quick to brag about his status as the Ultimate Kidnapper and the numerous outright criminal acts he had committed.
  • Cheery Pink: Nanae Mochizuki wears a pink apron, and is quite chipper and upbeat at almost all times.
  • "Could Have Avoided This!" Plot: Sasuke reveals in Chapter 6 that he had handed Reiji his secret of being the mastermind all the way back in Chapter 1, and that Reiji never bothered to read it until it was too late. Realizing that almost everybody died needlessly leaves Reiji shocked for a moment.
  • Cowardly Yellow: Masato, who wears a yellow work uniform at all times, is also a Nervous Wreck unwilling to socialize with others under the belief that they're all out to kill him.
  • Cruel and Unusual Death: Umm, yeah, it's a Danganronpa fanfic, so there'd be this in the executions.
    • Chapter 1's killer, Shuya Sasakura the Ultimate Bartender, has From the First Glass to the Grave. Shuya is held at gunpoint by numerous Monokumas, while a bartender Monokuma tosses him a glass he drinks. The bartender Monokuma continues to serve various alcoholic beverages like vodka, sake, tequila, whiskey and rum, with Shuya becoming more disheveled and alcoholic as time goes on. In the end, he's tricked into putting a gun to his mouth and shooting himself.
    • Chapter 2's killer, Usagi Hino the Ultimate Heavy Metal Guitarist, has Wicker Rabbit Appointment. She is put inside a rabbit figure made of wicker wood, with a Monokuma playing a guitar to the tune of "Sumer is icumen in." Once he begins, a pyrotechnic act sets the wicker rabbit on fire, all the while Usagi flails within the figure. By the time Monokuma finishes playing, the charred structure collapses with Usagi burnt and crushed to death.
    • Chapter 3's first killer, Nanae Mochizuki the Ultimate Baker, has The Way the Cookie Crumbles. She is grabbed by a crane and dropped into a bowl of liquid chocolate, causing her to drown in it as she gets covered by it. Monokuma then pulls out a giant electric mixer, slowly inching it closer to the poor girl, shredding her off-camera but leaving the sound audible. When it's done, Monokuma has a plate of chocolate chip cookies made out of the mix of chocolate and Nanae.
    • Chapter 4's killer, Tetsuo Garcia the Ultimate Luchador and the real Sparkling Justice, subverts this with his execution, Last Battle of Sparkling Justice. He's pitted up against multiple Monokuma wrestlers, all the while his identity as the vigilante is revealed to the world as he has to fight for his life. However, he ultimately gets the last laugh, as he not only defeats the Monokumas, but pumps his fist in victory, his body refusing to yield when succumbs to his wounds.
    • Chapter 5's killer, Kira Aozaki the Ultimate Clockmaker, has Hickory Dickory Death. She's surrounded by 13 doors, all the while a giant clock starts at midnight. Each time the clock strikes an hour, a spear is launched to impale her. When 12 spears are launched at, the 13th door opens to have her friend Asuka there to comfort her, though she still succumbs to her wounds, dying in a pool of blood.
  • Dead Guy on Display: The courtroom's ceiling in Chapter 6 is decorated with the bodies of all the prior victims and killers.
  • Deathly Unmasking: Tetsuo Garcia takes off his luchador mask for the first and final time shortly before his execution in Chapter 4.
  • Died Standing Up: Tetsuo's execution in Chapter 4 ends with him succumbing to his injuries while standing up, denying Monokuma the satisfaction of giving him a humiliating death. Monokuma doesn't take it well, needless to say.
  • Driven to Suicide: By Chapter 3, Mayu cannot cope with the trauma of both being raped and the Killing Game, and after being given a Suicide Dare by Iori, hangs herself in her bedroom. Her best friend Nanae cuts her down and attempts CPR, but suffocates her in the process.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: The epilogue has Reiji run into a Straw Nihilist at a graveyard — the latter is revealed in the sequel Danganronpa: Paradise Lost to have been Junpei Ichikawa, a participant in its Killing Game.
  • Enemy Mine: As befitting the chapter's title, it occurs in the Chapter 3 Class Trial, in which Sasuke offers his aid to Reiji to try and bring Iori to justice. Sasuke even spells it out:
Sasuke: He's your enemy, he's my enemy, and my enemy's enemy is my friend.
  • Expy: Chie Midoriyama is The Baby of the Bunch, has a Verbal Tic of attaching animal onomatopoeia to the end of her sentences, and displays affection towards a Companion Cube. All of these traits give her away as having been inspired by Gin Ibushi from Your Turn to Die.
  • Eye Scream: According to Sasuke, the reason why he wears an eyepatch is due to losing one of his eyes as a result of Police Brutality when he and a group attempted to kidnap Sayaka Maizono. Much later, he confesses that he never lost it at all.
  • Gleeful and Grumpy Pairing: Nanae is a very chipper girl, and her constant companion Mayu is rather morose in comparison.
  • Hates Being Touched: Mayu Ikezawa's bio notes that she is averse to physical contact, and she's quick to refuse a handshake from Reiji upon introduction — a clear side-effect of her Rape as Backstory.
  • Implied Death Threat: Happens at the end of Tetsuo's first Free Time Event, with him warning Reiji that should the former consider the latter's soul to be "a black flame", it will be extinguished. With the later reveal of Tetsuo being Sparkling Justice, it's heavily implied that Tetsuo was in a position to make good on his threat.
  • Ironic Name: The boy named Masato Oda, his first name meaning "greatness" and his surname harkening back to one of Japan's greatest and infamous warlords, is a worker at a Burger Fool completely aware of how insignificant he is in life.
  • Jack the Ripoff: Shuya's murder plot in Chapter 1 involves him dressing up in a costume akin to Sparkling Justice whilst killing Mamoru, in order to frame Tetsuo for the crime after Shuya discovered his secret of being Sparkling Justice.
  • Karma Houdini Warranty: Iori survives Chapter 3, despite having killed Shouko with no remorse, much to everyone else's dismay due to Nanae's Accidental Murder of Mayu happening first. The very next chapter, as soon as he gets the chance to, Tetsuo kills him in return.
  • Kill the Cutie: Sweet, bubbly Nanae Mochizuki is executed in Chapter 3 after accidently killing her friend Mayu Ikezawa. And to make matters worse, Iori Jabami mocks her as the rest reluctantly sentence her to die, nearly all of them broken by it.
  • Knee-capping: Shouko's escape attempt in Chapter 1 is punished via Monokuma snatching her own baseball bat away from her and then repeatedly hitting her in the knee with it.
  • Light Feminine and Dark Feminine: Cheerful and bubbly baker Nanae, dressed in bright white and pink, and gloomy, subdued Go player Mayu, wearing dark purple and black, are rarely seen apart.
  • Masked Luchador: Tetsuo Garcia fits the bill: wearing a mask at almost all times, his Hispanic heritage, and his talent outright being the Ultimate Luchador.
  • Mysterious Purple: Asuka is associated with light purple, and is a constant source of mystery throughout the Killing Game — to the point that Reiji's narration at the beginning of his first Free Time Event with her notes that "Asuka was a girl of many mysteries."
  • Not Me This Time: Two murders are attributed to the infamous Vigilante Man Sparkling Justice. The first time, in Chapter 1, it really wasn't him and was the work of a Jack the Ripoff who knew his secret. The second time, in Chapter 4, it turns out that yes, Sparkling Justice killed the victim.
  • Obfuscating Disability: Midway through the final Class Trial, Sasuke admits when confronted with his police mugshot that he lied about losing his eye to Police Brutality, "for sympathy points" in his words. After unveiling himself as the mastermind, he takes his eyepatch off to reveal a functional, if red, eye.
  • Prisoner's Dilemma: Sasuke likens the Killing Game to the prisoner's dilemma at the beginning of Chapter 1, pointing out that everyone has to trust everyone else with their life, even though it would be in their individual best interests to escape through killing someone and getting away with it.
  • Red/Green Contrast: Protagonist Reiji wears a red shirt, and his best friend since childhood Mamoru wears a green jacket. Both of them have contrasting personalities to match — Reiji being rather serious at all times and Mamoru being laidback.
  • Seven Is Nana: In a darkly humorous coincidence, Nanae Mochizuki becomes the seventh casualty of the Killing Game, being sentenced as Chapter 3's killer.
  • Shout-Out:
    • Monokuma's first nighttime announcement has him in a Slouch of Villainy and with a glass of wine. Reiji hypothesises that Monokuma was thinking of the students as "miserable little piles of secrets" in response.
    • When Reiji and Mamoru are discussing an author of sexually explicit mangas known as SHADOWMOUNTAIN, Mamoru brings up that the author quoted the "I'm not gay, Greg." meme when explaining why only women are featured in his work.
    • Mamoru is bludgeoned to death with a shield to the chest by Shuya in Chapter 1 — just like how John Walker killed Nico.
    • Shuya Sasakura's execution is titled "From the First Glass to the Grave", which also shares the tagline of a particularly noteworthy political cartoon from the Temperance movement also known as "The Drunkard's Progress", and also works in a similar fashion: the more Shuya drinks, the more haggard and unkempt he becomes, and just like the vagrant in the cartoon, he commits suicide, albeit tricked by Monokuma into doing so.
    • Usagi Hino's execution at the end of Chapter 2, via being locked into a giant wicker statue that is set on fire, is a direct homage to The Wicker Man (1973), bolstered by Reiji's narration noting that Monokuma was playing the melody of "Sumer is icumen in".
    • The pose Tetsuo Garcia remains in at the end of his execution in Chapter 4, dying on his feet with his fist raised towards the heavens, is an obvious reference to Raoh's iconic death from Fist of the North Star.
    • The epilogue has Reiji comment that after the Killing Game and returning to her ordinary life, Asuka was approached to lead the development of a Video Game Remake, with his remark about it being considered the "densetsu no kusoge", or "legendary shitty game" all but stating it to be one of Hoshi wo Miru Hito.
  • Snakes Are Sinister: Iori Jabami, capable of using his talent to control and aptly associated with snakes, turns out to be one of the most unsympathetic killers, gleefully proclaiming his godhood and mocking Nanae as she is sentenced to execution.
  • Verbal Tic: Chie often ends her sentences with a "ribbit" or "croak", fitting for her childishness and association with frogs.
  • Video Wills: Mamoru leaves Reiji one, with the end of Chapter 1 being Reiji watching it shortly after Mamoru's murder and Shuya's execution for it.
  • Vigilante Man: Tetsuo is revealed in Chapter 1 to be one, eventually killing Iori for his actions in the preceding chapter in Chapter 4. And he's no mere vigilante — he happens to be Sparkling Justice.
  • White Hair, Black Heart: Sasuke Akechi has white hair. He is also a shameless kidnapper who frequently antagonizes Reiji and the others, and turns out to be the mastermind of the Killing Game.
