Go To

"After much loss in the life of the young Kensei Amagiri, it looks as if things still haven't stopped getting worse. Trapped on an island where your only option is to fight for your lives against the creatures you are pitted against and the monsters who forced you into this harsh lifestyle. Do you just stand around and just do as you're told? Or do you fight back and take your fate back into your own hands?"

DxD - The Last Amagiri is an OC centric AU fanfic written by HolyKnightX. It entails the start of Kensei Amagiri's struggle to survive the life-and-death battle he had been thrown into at a young age, but it isn't just his life he is concerned for, but also his adoptive sister, Claire Belial, and close friend, Alice Evangelista.

DxD - The Last Amagiri provides examples of:

  • Action Girl: Almost all the important female characters in the Last Amagiri fit this, ranging from Sacred Gear users to magicians, and supporters.
  • Age Lift: In DxD canon Kunou is a first-year middle school student (as of Volume 22) making her around 12 or 13 when first introduced. Here, she's 15 by the time the story catches up to DxD canon.
  • All for Nothing: Taro Aoyama planned on creating an underworld fighting venture, where he gathered children or supernatural children with special powers, and then made them fight against monsters. However, this ended when those children fought back and stole the money made from the Gehenna Tournament.
  • The Alliance: The Kibou Alliance, is the literal definition of this.
  • All Men Are Perverts: Kensei is one to some extent, but he has much more control over himself than most canon characters.
  • All Women Are Lustful: Almost all the girls in Kensei's harem are quick to want to show their affection, often most in private, being more lighthearted out in the open.
  • Amazingly Embarrassing Parents: Some parents can be a bit too embarrassing, ranging from the parents of Hisui, more so her doting father, Ichirou; Zane's doting mother, Anne; and Ravel's mother.
  • Another Dimension: The Gehenna Tournament uses the Gaming Fields from the Rating Game for this, and this is used by the Kibou Alliance too.
  • Arc Villain:
    • In Volumes 1-2: Taro Aoyama and the Gehenna Guard.
    • In Volume 3: Marko, the Demon Eater.
    • In Volume 4: Niðhöggr, a legendary Evil Dragon.
    • In Volume 5: Zekram Bael, the orchestrator of Cleria and Masaomi's death, then Claire's attempted assassination.
    • In Volume 6: Hakki, an artificial demon.
  • Ascended Demon: Claire is the half-breed daughter of a High-Class Devil Woman and an Exorcist; while being able to use demonic power through her mother's genetics, in addition to the light powers from her Sacred Gear, as a result of her father's human blood.
  • Alternate Universe: The Last Amaigiri takes place in an alternate universe, where the events are much different compared to that of the actual canon.
  • Badass Adorable: All the important female characters are beautiful and powerful at the same time.
  • Badass Army: The Kibou Alliance is an unusual combination of special power users, supernatural beings, and half-breeds.
  • Bait-and-Switch Lesbians: During them having a threesome with Kensei, Claire and Alice kissed.
  • Balanced Harem: Kensei cares and loves the women in his harem, with all the women involved agreeing to share him without fighting over him.
  • Battle Couple: Any of Kensei with any of his fiancées and lovers counts.
  • Battle Harem: If you're the fiancée of Kensei Amagiri, then you're bound to be adept in combat to some degree, even Minako, an Idol who learned martial arts from him.
  • Barrier-Busting Blow: Kensei and co. broke through all the barriers placed around Niðhöggr's corpse, to erase the explosive spell Loki placed on his corpse.
  • Berserk Button: Never mess with Kensei's family or friends, he doesn't care about your species, gender, or status, he's all but prepared to throw down the gauntlet against a god.
  • Big Bad:
    • The Yami Organization, established on Hagun Island three years after losing the Gehenna Tournament after the "Hagun Island Rebellion". Yami consists of members related to Hagun Island and those who felt abandoned by their respective factions or species and now seek to wreak chaos across the Human World.
    • Amatsu-Mikaboshi, the Primordial God of Evil in Shintoism described as the source of all demonic entities and spirits from the Shinto Faction, is one of the main antagonists in the story. He seeks to possess Kensei as his host.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Pretty much all the children on Hagun Island have this.
  • Fight Magnet: Whether because he inherited dragon blood or becuse Amatsu-Mikaboshi wants him as is host, but no matter his initial plans, Kensei always gets himself caught into a battle of some kind.
  • Hate Sink:
    • Taro Aoyama. The guy appears to be a somewhat generous young man, but in actuality, he is a selfish, greedy, and cruel individual without a conscience of his own even when it comes to using children if it means he could succeed in his goal. After discovering that the supernatural was real, he fell into despair before he eventually used all his family's money to the point of bankrupting them to build the Gehenna Tournament.
    • Hayashi Namikaze. He appears to be a blind and calm old man, but he is a rather cold-blooded mercenary who does whatever it takes for money even if it means kidnapping numerous children.
    • Wu Jun. Befitting his imposing looks and nature, he has the typical warlord mindset, desiring to bring down all the Chinese Gods to become the new Emperor. In doing so, aside from stealing treasures, he takes the "pure" daughters of the men he defeats, then "teaches" them what it means to be his wives, so that all of them could give birth to strong children. Afterward, he also hands off the "impure" women and wives of all of the men who work under him as a reward.
  • Meaningful Name: The Gehenna Tournament, where children with supernatural abilities regularly fight against vicious monsters, is named after a valley near Jerusalem where children were sacrificed to Baal.
  • Polyamory: It's a High School D×D fanfic, so this is to be expected. Kensei's harem is confirmed to have Alice, Claire, Hisui, Kunou, Yasaka, Lu Lingqi, Sarah, Minako, Koneko, Kuroka, Ravel, Amaterasu, Brynhildr, Rossweisse, and Ophis.
  • Punched Across the Room: After Zekram Bael, tried killing Claire like her parents and peerage, Kensei broke into his home, and punched him across his room in retaliation.
  • Rank Scales with Asskicking: In the Kibou Alliance, the leaders are the Numbers and strongest members, given their ranks based on when they became a Number. In addition to this, all of them surpass the strength of High-Class Devils and some of them can reach that of Ultimate-Class Devils.
  • Rape Is a Special Kind of Evil: Wu Jun, the leader of the Black Dragon Alliance takes the "pure" daughters of the men he defeats to be his wives, then hands the "impure" women to his loyal subordinates. Each of their men would rape them for their pleasure, with Jun raping his "wives" in front of them to break their pride as women and turning them into nothing but living dolls.
  • Story Arc: The story is split into different "Volumes" that are seven chapters each, much like the main series.
  • Wuxia
    • Volume 1 (Chapters 1-7): The Last Amagiri on Hagun Island
    • Volume 2 (Chapters 8-14): Rebellion on Hagun Island
    • Volume 3 (Chapters 15-21): Chaotic Reunion in Kyoto
    • Volume 4 (Chapters 22-28): Journey to the Norse
    • Volume 5 (Chapters 29-35): Divulgence of the Truth
    • Volume 6 (Chapters 36-42): The Troubled Phenex
    • Volume 7 (Chapters 43-49): Encountering the Heroes
    • Volume 8 (Chapters 50-56): Harbingers of Darkness
    • Volume 9 (Chapters 57-63): Amagiri Summer Training
  • Superpowerful Genetics:
    • Kensei Amagiri, through his maternal lineage (Amagiri Clan), gives him unique genetics meant to adapt to the supernatural, Ki/Spiritual Power Manipulation, Elemental Powers, and martial art talent; and from his paternal lineage (Uesugi Clan), aside from sword skills, he had inherited the dragon blood/power from his father who drank an Evil Dragon's blood.
    • Claire Belial, through her maternal lineage (Belial Clan), is a half-Devil who inherited their demonic power, Worthless, and from her paternal lineage she inherited his skill as an Exorcist, which goes alongside her Sacred Gear, which has an Angel sealed in it.
    • Minako Kushihashi, inherited their general innate Wood Element Attribute from her paternal lineage. A unique case, where she has two mothers, the woman who conceived her, then the surrogate mother who carried her to term also happens to be one of the most important Shinto Gods, Konohana Sakuya-hime, making her a half-Goddess.
    • Lu Lingqi, although not much is known about her maternal lineage. Her paternal one consists of the descendants of Lü Bu, who inherits his unique constitution, bestowing even women potential superhuman physical prowess; unique to the Main Lu House, Lü Jie, The Ageless, who underwent cultivation to ascend into a Shouxian, who has divine power and the ability shapeshift into a White Tiger, granting their lineage greater potential.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Taro Aoyama, the man who created and ran the Gehenna Tournament, does not hesitate to physically and/or emotionally hurt any of the kids under his "care". The Old Devils who sponsor the tournament count as well.
  • Wuxia: There are elements in the Last Amagiri, which take some elements from the genre. This ranges from the Ki Manipulation (Cultivation), Supernatural Martial Arts, Action Girl, Heir to the Dojo, Implausible Fencing Powers, Master Swordsman, Sword and Sorcery, etc.. Aside from the elements included in the DxD Series, these were added due to there not being much mentioned about the other parts of canon Ki Manipulation, Spiritual Power, and Senjutsu.
