Crystal Judgment
is a Sing Fanfic written by Black Liquid Sorrow.
Set after the events of Sing 2, Crystal Judgment follows Jimmy Crystal as he is forced into the life of a low income citizen. Without any of the privileges he's used to, Jimmy must adapt to a new world.
Crystal Judgment provides examples of:
- Adapted Out: Most of the original cast doesn’t make an appearance, outside of a few cameos.
- Anti-Hero: Jimmy is a type III. He's just as rude as before, but he is willing to (begrudgingly) cooperate with others.
- Anti-Villain: Claudia is a mix of Type III and II. While she is the one who sets the plot in motion by exiling Jimmy, it’s made clear that she still loves him and she’s willing to help him when at his lowest.
- Bittersweet Ending: Jimmy successfully completes his rehabilitation and reunites with Claudia, but his relationship with Porsha is left ambiguous and Buster makes it clear that things will never get better between them.
- Brutal Honesty: Jimmy’s Faux Affably Evil nature has completely vanished and he makes little attempt to hide his true feelings
- The Cameo: Several minor characters from both of the movies make an appearance.
- Cannot Spit It Out: Jimmy is ultimately unable to apologize to Porsha, leaving their relationship on an ambiguous note.
- Cheap Costume: Jimmy briefly wears a bandanna and sunglasses while out in public.
- Cruel to Be Kind: Claudia’s plan for Jimmy.
- Deadpan Snarker: Jimmy quickly becomes one in his rehabilitation. Rick also engages in this.
- Get A Hold Of Yourself Man: Claudia gives a big one to Jimmy at the end of act 2.
- Gosh Dang It to Heck!: Despite the presence of swears, Jimmy doesn’t even use the mildest of them.
- Hair-Trigger Temper: Jimmy’s violent outbursts resulted in him being pulled out of school. His parents refused to give him professional help, which resulted in him just suppressing things. As a result, he became a ticking time bomb of rage.
- Hard Truth Aesop: As Claudia herself points out to Jimmy, people in life are under no obligation to forgive you.
- Horrible Housing: Jimmy and Rick live together in an incredibly cheap apartment in the poorest area of Redshore City
- How the Mighty Have Fallen: Jimmy goes from a powerful CEO to someone forced to buy clothes at a thrift store.
- Obliviously Evil: Deconstructed. Jimmy's inability to understand how heinous his actions are is a big flaw of his.
- Parental Substitute: Buster is said to have become one for Porsha
- Positive Friend Influence: Rick is this towards Jimmy
- Remember the New Guy?: Claudia is treated as if she was always there, when she wasn’t even remotely alluded to in the movies. Handwaved in that she was in Italy at the time.
- Ruder and Cruder: Characters now openly swear, compared to the squeaky clean language of the original movie
- Secret Test of Character: Claudia makes Jimmy apologize to Buster in the climax. After he’s rejected, she tells him the point was to realize that not everyone will forgive him.
- Took a Level in Kindness: Lance and Becky are a fair bit nicer here. Eventually, Jimmy follows suit.
