Crosswind is a The Legend of Spyro fanfic by Plague Doctor 2035.
The story is set during the timeframe, as well as within the backdrop, of the events of The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning. It focuses on a group of orphaned young dragons who are trying to evade the Dark Army's forces and make it to refuge in Warfang. The fic explores the backdrop of the Legend of Spyro series and aims to expand on the events of the games. In particular, it shows the greater scope of Cynder and Gaul's conquests through the eyes of 'normal' dragons not caught up in the fighting, and how the citizens of the dragon realm's lives were affected by the war. This story is stated to have been at least partially inspired by MissRiverStyxx's Firelight series.

Crosswinds contains examples of:
- Big Brother Instinct: Colreus becomes a big brother figure to the two younger dragonesses and is very protective of them. He goes as far as to fight off apes, dreadwings, and even larger predators in their defense.
- Dying Race: The dragons, in line with the state of their species by the time of the games. Although they are not quite extinct in this, they are mentioned to have gone from a population of perhaps a few hundred thousand to now only tens of thousands of individuals, with the war chipping away at that number. The apes are implied to be systematically hunting and skinning any dragon they come across, with a large bounty put on their scales.
- War Is Hell: The war between apes and dragons has taken a massive toll on the Dragon Realms. Countless towns have been destroyed and lives have been lost on both sides, with the main characters each having lost most of their families to ape attacks on their home villages. The dragon species is on a decline as a result of the war as well and much of the realm is suffering from the apes' subjugation.
