Close (But Not Coffee)
is a Pokémon: Diamond and Pearl Adventure! oneshot by Volcanic Lily, It's a Jun/Mitsumi-themed story that's loosely based on Pokémon Black and White.
Set months after the manga ends, Jun is out completing the National Dex while Mitsumi travels with Hareta. Eventually the three decide together to head out to Unova. Jun still has his heart set out on wooing Mitsumi, even if she disagrees.
This fanfic provides examples of:
- Composite Character: Hareta, Mitsumi, and Jun take the roles of the Black and White protagonist and their rivals. They also take the roles of the X and Y characters.
- Continuation: The characters set off to Unova and end up fighting Team Plasma.
- Dogged Nice Guy: Jun keeps on asking Mitsumi out, even after she refuses. He eventually stops asking her for a while, only because he thinks he needs to figure out what he's "doing wrong".
- Exhausted Eye Bags: Mitsumi has faint bags because she doesn't sleep well when traveling with Hareta.
- Megaton Punch: Mitsumi often reacts to Jun's flirting physically. She punches him a lot, but he always tries later.
- Tsundere: The author describes Mitsumi's relationship with Jun as her being tsundere. She does care for Jun but shows it in a standoffish manner
