Claire the Kind is a Trollhunters fanfic by Apex Primus

For over a thousand years, the Amulet of Daylight has chosen the mightiest warriors to become the Trollhunter. However, the newest Trollhunter isn't a warrior or a troll, she's just an ordinary, human girl. Claire didn't know why the amulet chose her, all she did know was that it did, and now she has to fight a millenia-old war to keep two worlds safe.

Claire the Kind provides examples of:
- Accidental Misnaming: Claire has a habit of mispronouncing Jim's name before quickly correcting herself.
- Badass and Baby: The first time Claire, Mary and Darci encounter Bular, Claire had picked up Enrique from her dad. Because of this, Enrique was caught up in the whole troll hunter problem and winds up going with them on their first trip to trollmarket after nearly getting killed by the gumm-gumm prince.
- For Want Of A Nail: With the difference in Chosen Ones, events that happen to Jim most surely happen to Claire and things will change.
- Instead of Toby becoming Jim's accomplice, both Mary and Darci end up meeting Blinky and AAARRRGGHH!!! instead.
- In Spite of a Nail: Same reasons as described in For Want Of A Nail.
- The Trollhunter armor is far less believable when Claire wears it to auditions instead of Jim, especially when it appears on her against her will due to nerves.
- Bular still chases after the troll hunter and their human friend(s). It just so happens to be Claire and her two girl friends (plus Enrique) this time.
- Parental Neglect: It is established pretty early on that Claire's parents are not always there when she needs them.Claire: Um, mom?
Mrs. Nuñez: Yes, Claire? Is there something you need?
Claire: I, uh... was wondering if you could pick me up later on Thursday?
Mrs. Nuñez: Claire, you know we'll be at work all day.
Claire: I know, I was just-
Mrs. Nuñez: And why do you need to be picked up later?
Claire: You don't remember?
Mrs. Nuñez: No, I can't say I do. - Police Are Useless: When things get especially horrifying for Darci (like Blinky and AAARRRGGHH!!! barging into Claire’s house or Bular chasing after them), her first instinct is to call her detective father, only for something to shoot it down (either by one of the others taking her phone or talking her out of it). Justified, considering that local law enforcement would be in no way equipped to deal with trolls, and it would make them sound insane if they even tried.
- What If?: What if Claire Nuñez found the Amulet of Daylight instead of Jim?
- You Are Better Than You Think You Are: A minor one when Claire thinks she won't get the part in the school play.Mary: Hey, Claire! No anxiety! Got it?
Claire: I can't help it.
Mary: Yes, you can! Who are you?
Claire: Uh… Claire Nuñez?
Mary: That's right! And what grades do you get?
Claire: A's?
Mary: Who do the boys swoon for?
