Fanfic / Cazador (Worm)

Go To

Cazador is a Worm and a Fallout crossover written by Nemo the Unknown.

After his Transportalponder malfunctions, Courier Six finds himself in Brockton Bay. Then he proceeds to do his thing, to the aggravation of many.

The fic can be read on Spacebattles and FF.net.

The story is currently on hiatus, but the author said that he is still working on it, even if slowly.

This work contains examples of:

  • Adaptation Name Change: Instead of Skitter, Taylor's cape name is Cazador.
  • Almighty Idiot: The Courier definitely qualifies, seeing as how he wandered around Brockton Bay for about a month still thinking he was in his home universe.
  • Aluminium Christmas Trees: In-Universe: Hookwolf identifies the Courier's Thermic Lance as Tinkertech.
  • Armor-Piercing Attack: Six uses several armor-defeating weapons against Hookwolf: First with an Industrial Hand, which doesn't work; then with a Thermic Lance, which does.
  • Badass Longcoat: Fittingly, Six's signature Elite Riot Gear wouldn't be complete without one. Later Taylor also gets one to augment her costume, handwoven from spider silk.
  • Bizarre Human Biology: In the very first chapter, Panacea gets a quick glance at his unique biology and freaks out. She claims his bionic and genetic modifications make victims of Bonesaw look tame.
    • When Panacea takes a closer look at PRT headquarters, she discovers that Six literally isn't human. His genetic code deviates from standard humans by about 5%. note
  • Bounty Hunter: Courier Six's cape persona is one. Since the PRT is currently is overwhelmed, and there are a lot of capes who have proven to be hard to capture, they are willing to pay for any successful capture. Although to Six's dismay, they only pay for alive captures, so he has to keep that in mind.
  • Born Lucky: According to Word of God, Six has 10 Luck in SPECIAL terms. This is why, for example, he was just in the right place in the right time to save Dinah from Coil's mercenaries.
  • Bottled Heroic Resolve: In preparation for rescuing Uber and Leet from Bakuda, and with Armsmaster's insistence that he avoid lethal force, Six takes at least one hit from all the different drugs he has on him.
  • Dies Differently in Adaptation: Early on, Hookwolf gets into a fight with Courier Six, who uses a thermic lance to pierce his armour and impale him.
    • Later Bakuda is killed by Courier Six as well, using a plasma grenade.
  • Dramatic Irony: The PRT assume that Six's Lobotomization was his Trigger Event, rather than just another wacky thing he's been through. They also assume that he's working for the Think Tank, rather than the other way around.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Six may not have a problem killing people, but he is constantly shown that he is unwilling to hurt kids.
  • Extended Disarming: When the Courier wanders into PRT headquarters for his meeting with Armsmaster, he first triggers an alarm with all his weapons. Then he triggers another alarm with all the weapons he tried to sneak past the checkpoint. Then he triggers another alarm with all the poisons, venoms, toxins, and hazardous materials he forgot he had on him. Then he triggers another alarm with all the radiological contaminants he emits by existing. Then he triggers another alarm-
  • The Fool: The Courier's M.O., much like in the game, is essentially wandering around the worst parts of town, lending a helping hand and/or picking a fight. He gains (slightly) more direction after signing on as a bounty hunter with the PRT.
  • Healing Factor: Though not as potent as Lung or Alabaster, Six can recover from some pretty severe damage given enough time.
  • Heal It With Fire: While trying to heal Cricket after the ambush, Taylor brings this trope up. Six then explains that although it is a possibility, it hurts like hell, so it should only be used as a last-ditch option.
  • Murder Is the Best Solution: Coming from the Mojave wasteland, Six is a major believer in this, when it comes to dealing with enemies. This gets him into trouble with the PRT at first, though no actual consequences result, as he can plausibly claim self-defense.
  • Named by the Adaptation: Uber is named Jake Kellogg, while Leet is Andy.
  • One-Word Title: Courtesy of Taylor's new cape name, which was given to her by Six.
  • Outside-Context Problem: Downplayed; Six's abilities aren't especially earth-shattering in the cape scene. His Energy Weapons are, because they aren't Tinkertech, and thus can actually be mass-produced. Armsmaster notes that even the spare Microfusion cells the Courier hands out like candy could be the key to a new technological revolution.
  • Refuge in Audacity: Upon entering Armsmaster's lab, Six offers to buy his halberd. When Armsmaster turns him down, he offers to trade one of his proton axes for it. Armsmaster is privately tempted for a moment, but still refuses.
  • Screw the Rules, I'm Doing What's Right!: The Courier's generally willing to abide by the Unwritten Rules after registering with the PRT, though not without some grumbling. Bakuda, however, is vile enough that he's willing to risk it to take her out, though he does stage it like she blew herself up to avoid being Birdcaged.
  • Student–Master Team: Instead of joining the Undersiders, Taylor becomes Six's partner, who has decided to teach her various techniques, like how to fight hand-to-hand, how to provide first-aid, and how to survive life in general.
  • Wild Card: Just like in the game Six is this in the cape scene. Officially, he is a Protectorate aligned rouge, who works as a bounty hunter, but he is also known for dealing with lesser villains, like the Undersiders or Uber & Leet. His main goal is to find a way back home, since he is the current leader of the independent New Vegas, and he doesn't care about the consequences of upsetting the balance of power between Brockton Bay's gangs. Tattletale even compares him to a sledgehammer, and everyone who recognizes that fact is trying their best to either get him on their side or take him out.
