"call it what you want" is a Modern AU Fic by Eevee and Rainewritesfanfics based on The Untamed. It follows Jiang Yanli, who, after Jin Zixuan suddenly has some realizations, finds that the life she's planned for herself has been upended. Yanli is suddenly forced to figure out how much of her life is the one she wants, and how much is what her mother has planned for her.

- Adaptational Sexuality: Jin Zixuan, who in the series proper marries Yanli, is gay.
- Yanli, meanwhile, is queer as well, though whether she's bisexual or a lesbian is left unclear
- Amicable Exes: Jiang Yanli and Mianmian.
- Deadpan Snarker: To a degree, most of the Competent Adults, but Meng Yao takes the cake.Meng Yao: Zixuan and I might have the same birthday, but I think spiritually I’m the older brother. What with being able to hold an extended conversation with another adult, being secure enough in myself to explore my sexuality without fleeing the country, and also having a real job.
- Feeling the Baby Kick: When Wen Qing kisses Yanli's stomach, she feels the baby move in response. Aww.
- Last Het Romance: Not that there was much of a romance, but Jin Zixuan and Jiang Yanli are mutually this for each other.
- Law of Inverse Fertility: Downplayed. Yanli and Zixuan have broken up and have only slept together a couple of times when Yanli finds out she's pregnant.
- LGBT Awakening: Jin Zixuan has one early in the fic. It had something to do with Ryan Gosling as Ken.
- The Loins Sleep Tonight: Alluded to.Yanli: I only fucked [Jin Zixuan] like three times. Maybe four if you count our first time, which I don’t. There were some technical difficulties.
- Only Sane Man: Song Lan is the only sane one in his polycule, compared to the slightly scary Xue Yang and the clueless Xiao Xingchen. Neither of them are invited to the Competent Adults group chat.
- Polyamory: Song Lan, Xiao Xingchen, and Xue Yang.
- Shipper on Deck: The entire Competent Adults group chat are very on board with Wen Qing dating Yanli.
- So Proud of You: Yanli's grandmother.Grandmother Yu: You have surpassed my every expectation. I spent a very long time being afraid for you, and now I know that I never had to be.
- Sticky Fingers: Xue Yang, who often shows up either stealing something or with other characters concerned that he will steal something.
- There Is Only One Bed: Early on in the fic, Wen Qing's apartment only has one bed. She and Yanli keep insisting the other take it. The Competent Adults Group Chat finds the situation hilarious.
