A text only fan fiction of Sonichu by Manajerkop posted on Fanfiction.net and Deviantart. A Black Comedy parody that mixes Hate Fic and Dark Fic, the story depicts the actual Sonichu comic book as an in-universe work of propaganda produced by the mayor of CWCville and chronicles the TRUE and HONEST struggles of the resistance organization PVCC to free their homes and the human race from the oppression of the Chus... by any means necessary. The story mainly focuses on the exploits of Kevin Shaw, a young man who travels to CWCville as part of his Pokemon journey and falls in with the Honey Badgers, a team of soldiers fighting for the PVCC.

The story up to Chapter 19 was on fanfiction.net, while the complete story along with bits canon to the story can be found on the author's DeviantArt page, even though the account is deactivated, though much of the content is age-restricted and requires an account to view.

Please remember this is a page only about said fanfic. Anything involving Christine Weston Chandler and things she did that aren't necessary to understand the context behind the story's plot points doesn't belong here and will be deleted.

Tropes present in CWCollateral: A Tale of the Resistance:

  • 0% Approval Rating: The steadily dwindling human population of CWCville universally despise Mayor Chandler for squeezing them dry to support the Chus' lavish lifestyles, the imported mercenaries propping up the regime find the ruling class annoying and are kept onboard by monthly tugboat payments and while the Chus themselves idolize their father with religious fervor they are deeply selfish, craven and will gladly turn on each other for any form of short term personal benefit or gratification.
  • Artistic License – Biology: A major In-Universe plot point — the author goes to great lengths explaining how many sacrifices had to be made to bring a Sonic the Hedgehog-type character into the real world, and exactly how the trope contributes to the chus' Uncanny Valley appearance and Made of Plasticine disposition. An Ancient Artifact that had been turned into a "creation engine" figures heavily into their creation.
  • Author Avatar: Steve Morrison, as admitted by Manajerkop himself.
  • Babies Ever After: The epilogue reveals that years after the Revolution, Kevin and Allie become parents to three children, Matthew, Zoey, and Amanda.
  • Battle Couple:
    • Bubbles Rosechu and Blake Sonichu fight as a team.
    • Sonic and Amy Rose run into battle holding hands.
    • Averted with Sonichu and Rosechu; unlike the other female Rosechus of the Chaotic Combo, she is absolutely worthless in a combat situation, even when transformed into "The Incredible Lioness".
  • Big Brother Is Watching: Magi-chan Sonichu provides surveillance for the Chandler regime via his vast psychic powers. The PVCC manage to hide their bases from him using anti-psychic technology. And later in the story, his illegitimate daughter Aki starts actively projecting Psychic Static to block his scrying.
  • Big Damn Heroes: After Operation Hedgeclipper is complete, the Honey Badgers are pinned down at KCWC Studios by a horde of feral chu larvae and a number of True Blue merc tanks. They call for reinforcements, and are saved by the elite Picklemen squad and Clyde Cash, who soon recruits the Honey Badgers for his and Jack Thaddeus' unsanctioned Loose Ends campaign.
  • The Big Guy: Serge of the Honey Badgers. He is a hulking Russian with a minigun named Baba Yaga, who can survive a Chu's thunderbolt, unlike normal humans, with ease, and he is also a Blood Knight who only goes after adult Chus.
  • Black-and-Gray Morality: Yes, the regime under Chris Chandler is full of corruption, the Chus look down on humans a lot and the EHPF are the living embodiment of police brutality, but the PVCC isn't above committing horrific war crimes against the Chus, like repeatedly murdering their young.
  • Bland-Name Product: As in Sonichu, CWC-Cola, CWCDonald's, CWC-Circuit City, etc.
  • Blazing Inferno Hellfire Sauce: "Break You Dead" hot sauce, a favorite among PVCC members, features Naga Viper chiliesnote  and pure capsaicin extract. It's also a common instrument of torture against feral Sonees and Roseys. The epilogue reveals that the PVCC operative who first made the sauce, Nick Martinez, began selling the hot sauce, becoming a millionaire in the span of a few years.
  • Boisterous Weakling:
    • Some of the Sonees and Roseys are very delusional about their own strength.
    • The PVCC has the BattleAXEs, who are its most pathetic members. To motivate them into fighting properly, Liquid Chris promises them double XP, and it works.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Chandler invokes this on Kevin's cousin, Kel. He also tries this on several women to get a sweetheart. Including Allie.
  • Celebrity Paradox: Sonic the Hedgehog and Dr. Eggman exist as characters within the story, yet Robbie is explicitly said to own a copy of Sonic '06.
  • Cold-Blooded Torture: Primarily employed by the heroes. Operation Hedgeclipper in particular stands out: in order to demoralize the chu populace of CWCville, the PVCC sends the Honey Badgers to invade Sonichu and Rosechu's house while Sonichu is lured away, and then video record themselves torturing Rosechu and her children to death in incredibly brutal ways. CWCollateral is in a way a revival of the "Sonee and Rosee Torture Fic", which was a style of fic favored by a subset of the Sonichu hatedom.
  • Commonality Connection: In the epilogue, Kevin and Sonichu talk about those they had lost, Kevin's squadmates, and Sonichu's family. They both share their first meeting in CWCville Mall: how Kevin lost his way, and Sonichu's heroism was twisted by Chris' own agenda.
  • Conspicuous Consumption: The primary reason humans despise Electric Hedgehog Pokemon and PVCC fights to overthrow the mayor; Humans are harshly taxed so that the Chus can live lives of debauched, material luxury surrounded by expensive toys and electronics. Feral Sonees and Rosees in particular are allowed by law to gorge themselves to their hearts' content inside the city's massive soup hotels while the ever expanding homeless population is forced to watch in vain hope of getting the scraps left behind.
  • The Corruptible:
    • Sonichu, once a hero, became a corrupt enforcer of Chris, disappointing Sonic.
    • Kevin himself, after he loses Matt, gets deeper into evil, and horrifies even Allie to the point she gets mad at him.
  • Cute Critters Act Childlike: Sonees and Rosees, the larval forms of Sonichus and Rosechus, are a rare evil example, embodying all the aggravating and unpleasant aspects of immature children, being self-centered, solipsistic tantrum throwers with bottomless appetites, screeching voices and disgusting hygiene. They'd normally be no threat at all, but the humans of CWCville are forced by the Electric Hedgehog Police Force to cater to the larva's every whim under threat of Police Brutality, and the ferals can eat a person if they are in huge groups and starving.
  • Dead Guy Junior: As the epilogue reveals, Kevin and Allie named their children after their fallen squadmates: Matthew Clark, Zoey Francesca, and Amanda Taylor.
  • Demonic Possession: Naitsirhc is a victim of this. Kuri, too, to Ker. Kevin subverts this by volunteering to be in the same body as Graduon.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: Often practiced by the chu populace of CWCville against humans under Chandler's rule. For example, Allie Parker, one of the Honey Badgers, used to be a hot dog vendor in the CWCville slums, but some EHPF officers objected to her selling a phallic food item in what must obviously be an attempt to encourage homosexuality and wreck her cart, burning her face in the process.
  • Dragon-in-Chief: Sonichu is ultimately a much more competent villain than his father and master.
  • Due to the Dead: Kevin manages to give his friend from the Soup Hotel a proper burial, with a plaque he carved himself.
Frank Douglas. 1933-2004. A friend to the end.
  • Ear Worm: In-Universe, larvae are drawn to the sound of the Mary Poppins soundtrack. The EHPF weaponizes this a few times, and so does the PVCC.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: By the end of the revolution, everyone who isn't already dead, Christian himself, True Blue mercenaries, or traitors to the PVCC, have lived long and happy lives.
  • Eldritch Location: A blast from Count Graduon opens a portal that sends the Honey Badgers, along with a few Chus, into the Warp.
  • Even Evil Has Standards:
    • Robotnik and Giovanni, and the latter's son, are evil due to their canon counterparts also being evil, but they still oppose the even worse Chris and his tyrannical regime.
    • Count Graduon is manipulative and dislikes humans, but he still opposes the Chaos Gods of Warhammer.
  • Expy:
    • Most of the Honey Badgers are Expies of the mercenaries from Team Fortress 2. Serge Khitrovo however is a Captain Ersatz, as he is pretty much The Heavy in all but name (and the fact that he isn't bald).
    • SUZI the failed LIESA unit is similar to GIR from Invader Zim, as they're both Cloudcuckoolanders and constantly malfunctioning drones who spout Non Sequiturs, but SUZI is slightly more competent than GIR, as she can easily and accurately mimic the Roseys' twee speak and kill numerous Sonees and Roseys in a short period of time.
"I wanna hug yooOOooUU and YOU'WE [sic] AWL GONNA DIE! WET'S PWAY TEWMINATOWR!"Translation:
  • Face Plant: Exaggerated from something which only got a passing mention in Sonichu proper—Sonees, and Robbie in particular, are constantly tripping over their own feet. Chandler genetically engineered this trait into them in an effort to make them cute and appealing.
  • Fat Bastard: Among the Sonees, Robbie is described as weighing 25 pounds and being at least twelve inches tall. His Heart Level is likely the only thing keeping him alive. He is also a spoiled brat.
  • Fountain of Memes: In-Universe, the Devil Trolls and other LIESA units speak in memes.
  • Free-Range Children: Taken to an extreme degree with feral Sonees and Roseys. Sonichus and Rosechus are incredibly fecund and will sometimes simply let their offspring wander off. These Sonees and Roseys are referred to as 'ferals'; ferals have better self-preservation instincts than their "homebred" counterparts, are slightly leaner and faster, and can be dangerous when encountered in large groups.
  • Funetik Aksent: You will hear the Sonee's and Rosey's grating, Elmo-like voices after a few pages. It is by turns hilarious and rage-inducing.
  • Glass Cannon: The Electric Hedgehog Pokemon created by the PVCC's Project Asperchu are very powerful but lack the Chaotic Combo's Healing Factor, making them much more vulnerable to injury.
  • Groin Attack: A common method of torture against Sonichus and Sonees is to rip their dick out of their bodies.
  • Hate Sink: Virtually every main antagonist in the story, ranging from Chris, Sonichu and his family, to the Chaotic Combo, is an example. No matter who you pick, they'll all display several traits: they always try to blame others for things that they and they alone are responsible for, no matter how flimsy the reason may be, calls people who dare oppose them "dang dirty trolls", expects everything to be handed to them on a silver platter; and that's just barely scratching the surface. You will feel cartharsis by the time Chris and the Electric Hedgehog Pokemon's Karma Houdini Warranty ultimately gets revoked by the PVCC.
  • Healing Factor: It's called "Heart level" here, and only those 'chus who are connected to Chandler (i.e. Sonichu, Rosechu, and the Chaotic Combo) have it. Do bear in mind that this doesn't make them invulnerable, just very difficult to kill. It ends up leading to And I Must Scream levels of agony for Rosechu during Operation Hedgeclipper.
  • Heel–Face Door-Slam: By the final battle, Sonichu realizes his evil ways, but he believes he is Beyond Redemption, begging for Kevin to kill him. Instead of doing that, Kevin instead erases Sonichu's form, leaving behind a Pikachu. In the end, Sonichu is long dead, replaced by the Pikachu who he once was.
  • Heteronormative Crusader: CWCville rounds up all homosexuals and sends them to horrific "straight camps" or enslaves them to serve as caretakers to chu larva. Including Heather Inglesias. In a storyline pulled directly from the original webcomic, Mayor Chandler attempts to conduct a global genocide of the homosexual population via a campaign of bioterrorism later in the story. Fortunately, it fails in this version.
  • Gorn: By the truckload. Generally Sonees and Roseys are the victims of it, but sometimes the Jerkops are on the receiving end, as the chus show why they deserve the suffering they get.
  • La Résistance: The Private Villa of Corrupted Citizens is this to Chandler's Police State government. The "True Blue" human mercenaries fill the role of Les Collaborateurs.
  • Lightning Bruiser: The Chaotic Combo are all incredibly powerful and fast, combining the speed of Sonic the Hedgehog with a Pikachu's affinity for lightning-based attacks. The ones besides the true and original Sonichu and Rosechu also have another Pokemon element type in combination with electricty: Water for Bubbles, Flying for Angelica, Grass for Wild, Fighting for Punchy and Psychic for Magi-chan.
  • Made of Plasticine: Sonees and Roseys are incredibly easy to kill, as they are basically waddling, twee-speaking sacks of flab. Even the True Blue admit this. At one point, one of the Honey Badgers kills a Rosey by shoving it into a VCR. At another, Zoey, a Honey Badger, removes her bra and kills a Sonee via nosebleed.
  • Massively Multiplayer Crossover: Like the comic it parodies, CWCollateral takes place in an odd combination of the Pokémon and Sonic the Hedgehog universes, as well as Real Life. Somehow, CWCville is a semi-enclave inside the US state of Virginia, but is also near the Kanto region. Even the Warhammer 40k universe shows up briefly.
  • Mind Rape: Chris does it to Kel, making her murderous and obsessed with Naistirhc.
  • Morally Ambiguous Doctorate: Dr. Bill Schwartz (aka Bill the Scientist), a former member of the PVCC that switched sides. What was probably his most heinous act was imprisoning and performing brutal scientific experiments on a young Kuri Tatsuno.
  • Mythology Gag: Being familiar with the original Sonichu comic, and all the Real Life events surrounding it, is necessary to get the most entertainment out of CWCollateral.
  • Never My Fault: The most universal and infuriating trait displayed by Electric Hedgehog Pokemon is that they believe everything in existence is owed to them, that everyone and everything should bend over backwards to provide them stress free lives of mindless consumer luxury just for being so dang special and cute, and anyone who even suggests otherwise is a DANG DIRTY TROLL!
  • No Honor Among Thieves: When they can't get what they want by abusing a human, Electric Hedgehog Pokemon won't hesitate for a moment to betray or abandon their fellow Chus, even direct family members.
  • Not Allowed to Grow Up: At Mayor Chandler's behest, Sonichu and Rosechu have been dosing their children's food with powdered Everstone, ensuring that they would remain at two years old for as long as they keep eating it.
  • Not-So-Harmless Villain:
    • The Feral Sonees and Roseys. Usually they are helpless targets of torture, and very easy to kill, but sometimes, especially when hungry and in large groups, they can dish out brutal deaths as well, even to Jerkops.
    • Chris himself. He may be hilariously incompetent and stupid, and his decisions often lead to him being useless or outright harmful to his side, but he still can call upon the powers of the Chaotic Combo, many of his personal victories in Sonichu aren't retconned, and he personally beats the main protagonist, Kevin himself, when the latter pisses him off too much.
  • One-Steve Limit: Weaponized by Kevin. Aware he is sharing the same name with a Jew who was once Cera's playdate, he pretends to be a grown-up version of the other Kevin which allows him to properly plan Hedgeclipper.
  • Original Character: While the villains and the PVCC leadership already existed in some form or another (whether drawn from Sonichu or another work, or from the real life mythos surrounding the original comic), most of the other characters, including the Honey Badgers squad, were created for the fic.
  • Pay Evil unto Evil: How the PVCC operates. The chus oppress the humans viciously, and act a lot like Nazis, while their young devour humans, both dead and alive. So, the PVCC makes sure to brutally torture them all to death.
  • Playing with Fire: Allie. She has an almighty flamethrower, Trogdor, and later she becomes a Rosechu that can breathe fire.
  • Politically Incorrect Hero: The PVCC hate all chus with a passion, with few exceptions, and feel no remorse torturing them. Their reason is that Chandler is creating an apartheid between humans and chus in favor of the latter.
  • Politically Incorrect Villain: Chandler and the chus are all bigoted towards non-white ethnicities, but homosexuals bear the brunt of their institutionalized prejudice. There are even "straight camps" in which Chandler's regime tries to force homosexuals to become straight.
  • Potty Failure: Tends to happen to Sonees and cloned Sonichus (and Chandler himself) when they are "stressed" or frightened. A case that stands out involves Bionic being forced to shit himself after being struck by a curse.
  • Powerful, but Incompetent: Chris. A gibbering moron with weird priorities, he is a terrible leader most of the time. He also has little fighting skill and once shoots himself by accident. But he is probably the strongest character of the story, as even after he can no longer use the powers of the Combo, he still takes teamwork to go down and barely does.
  • Precision F-Strike: Sonichu, the Chaotic Combo, and all Sonichu and Rosechu clones were genetically engineered with a "self-censor" by Chandler, which automatically replaces any curse words with bleeps. When Sonichu's self-censor breaks down upon witnessing Chandler's failed resurrection of Cera, it's a sign that he's having a complete mental breakdown.
  • Propaganda Machine: The mayor's office runs a hilariously ineffectual one glorifying the Chu species, demonizing PVCC as well as the wide variety of things (alcohol, tobacco, owning Pokemon and homosexuality, among others) banned by the mayor and and portraying larval chus as lovable Ridiculously Cute Critters that everyone should be happy to love and cherish. No one's buying it.
  • Punch-Clock Villain: The True Blue, cops working for Chandler. Nobody is loyal to him, they are all for the money.
  • Released to Elsewhere: Chris does kill the Asperpedia Four in this version, and the retcon that they were sent to the Amish is just his propaganda.
  • Right Hand Versus Left Hand:
    • Happens within the PVCC later in the story: Clyde Cash and Jack Thaddeus undertake a mission without prior approval from Mary Lee Walsh, to rescue Naitsirhc for Giovanni.
    • Happens among the chus as well. Magi-Chan has his own agenda, separate from Chris, which puts the two at odds with each other close to the end. Chris Prime averts this with their Magi-Chan, though.
  • Sergeant Rock: Steve Morrison, one of the Honey Badger leaders, is tough but fair.
  • Shout-Out: Allie's flamethrower is named after Trogdor the Burninator from Homestar Runner.
  • Spoiled Brat: Electric Hedgehog Pokemon larva were designed from the ground-up as vicarious recreations of Mayor Chandler's perception of an ideal childhood. As such, they are self-centered, endlessly greedy gluttons with zero empathy whom the citizens of CWCville are forced by law to coddle and indulge.
  • Take a Third Option: The 'chus try to pull this all the time whenever they are given two choices. The third option usually comes in the form of Bread, Eggs, Breaded Eggs, and it never works out for them.
  • Team Pet: Sugarplum Fury, an actual honey badger, is the mascot for the Honey Badgers squad. She often takes out Sonees and Roseys like the others.
  • Time Skip: Kevin and some of the Honey Badgers get pulled into a portal to the Warhammer 40,000 universe, and while they're only there for a short while, several months have passed when they come out.
  • Took a Level in Badass:
    • Kevin. He starts as a mere redshirt, ends up an One-Man Army that can fight just as well as Sonichu himself.
    • The Rosechus. In the final battle, Chris makes all of them Lionesses, causing them to surpass their male counterparts for once.
    • Sonichu turns into a Metonic towards the end of the story.
  • Uncanny Valley: This term is used to describe the fused eyes of Sonichus and Rosechus (but not the real Sonic and Amy Rose), and the eyes of Sonees and Roseys, which are described as having "reptilian" slit pupils. Their "armstubs" and "stumpfeet" are simultaneously seen as both grotesque and pathetic.
  • Urban Segregation: Electric Hedgehog Pokemon are the protected and ruling class in CWCville, living luxurious, idle lives tax free while humans are squeezed dry until they wind up in Soup Hotels and are forced into raising the massive numbers of larval chus.
  • Villainous Breakdown:
    • Mayor Chandler rants and throws a massive fit in Chapter Seven Part C, throwing threats like candy at the PVCC after they cull the city of Sonees and Roseys. Kevin and Allie get to watch it from their base.
    • He does it again, and it's explicitly defined as such by the PVCC, after the complete success of Operation Hedgeclipper.
  • Violation of Common Sense: Rosey "skirt-a-chutes" (i.e. parachute skirts) only function as such when attached to something as unnatural as a Rosey.
  • Wave of Babies: Kevin has a vision of the final end of Planet Earth, eaten alive by a tidal wave of Sonees and Roseys, led by Sonichu's children, and left a dying, polluted husk, with not even Chris being safe. This is a warning from Graduon about what will happen if the chus win.
  • Weak, but Skilled: The common Jerkop operatives have no powers whatsoever, the only reason they can fight the EHPF is that they are much better trained and can use guns.
  • "Where Are They Now?" Epilogue: The final chapter ends with description of what happened to the characters after Mayor Chandler's regime was at long last toppled.
  • Wrap It Up: Manajerkop eventually decided to write the ending of the fic as a quick summary based on his notes.
  • Your Terrorists Are Our Freedom Fighters: While the word "terrorist" is a little advanced to be in the vocabulary Electric Hedgehog Pokemon this sentiment runs strong in both sides of the conflict, as the Chus have no sympathy for the (admittedly pretty brutal) resistance movement, which in turn enjoys near-universal approval from the oppressed humans of CWCville.
  • Zerg Rush: 'Feral' Sonees and Roseys are capable of this in large groups.
